There's no standard of placing bitcoin symbol in a number/decimals. The same for other currencies.
That's not true (though I'm not sure if by "currencies" you mean cryptocurrencies or are including fiat ones).  I often see people writing USD amounts like this: 1$.  The standard is to place the dollar sign before the amount--that's true in the US, and since it's the US's currency and the US's standard, it should be the standard.  I just used USD as an example, but my thinking should hold for any country's currency.

I voted for putting BTC before the amount, but honestly I'm OK with either and I think I've written bitcoin amounts both ways.  But in any case, it's no government's currency, it's not controlled by any person or group, so even if somebody could set the standard for symbol placement, everyone would still do as they please.

Why is this even being debated?  Lol.  A much better discussion is the one about units, e.g., sats, mBTC, etc.  Even then people are still free to do whatever they like.

I've seen amounts written in words like 1BTC 1 BTC but not like BTC1 BTC 1 so that's easy.

I'm asking if the best place for symbol's at the beginning or end of amounts. I've seen both styles. If you're writing amounts where's the best place supposed to be BTC1.23456789 or 1.23456789BTC. Which way do you prefer using the Bitcoin symbol.

I don't use the Bitcoin symbol so I don't care. I usually write 1 BTC or 2 BTC. This is what I'm used to do.
Is this the most important thing in the world, when it comes to Bitcoin/blockchain technology/crypto adoption?
I'm sure that there are way more important topics regarding Bitcoin that we should be discussing.
You can write the Bitcoin symbol wherever you want. Before or after the BTC amount. It doesn't matter.

Putting the symbol where you want makes it a personal choice. I've used the symbol both ways in the amount. I know there isn't a fixed rule so I've used btc BTC and BTC some times.

Why is this even being debated?  Lol.  A much better discussion is the one about units, e.g., sats, mBTC, etc.  Even then people are still free to do whatever they like.
Like when ppl say they'll send 700 sats instead of saying 0.00000700BTC or when you ask for 5 mBTC instead of 0.005BTC. Isn't that discussion settled?

Never thought of this, well I used to get confused while writing any amount in USD as $15 or 15$.. same is the case with my local currency PKR.. But I think what matters is not the placement, most people follow the standard, and most of them don't. For other currencies, there can be standards I'm sure but for Bitcoin whatever you like, you can use because I haven't acknowledged from anyone that this si a particular standard for writing valuation in Bitcoin.

TBH, I was expecting such of the question, a few days ago similar kind of topic on why Bitcoin's total supply is 21M was posted and I was like I haven't thought of it as it's, not the principle that everything must exist on logic, I know specifically for the phenomena it should but for the things like why your name is ABC.. it really doesn't make sense that there would be logic,his/her name is ABC because his parents wanted.

Well, just what you explain, most people used the left one, and there are some use the right one of placing currency sign.
Which i've come up that there is no standard of placing it in numbers, it's just preference.

In some countries it's fine to place symbols both ways in some they're stricter. In this forum we aren't following any thing it's every one using BTC or BTC in places they're comfortable.

It makes BTC ideal if it's limited in supply so Bitcoin's capped to 21M. There are theories but we don't know why Satoshi chose 21M. It should've included reasons in the whitepaper but Satoshi didn't add it.

It just depends on your habits: in my language (I'm Italian) the currency symbol would go after the number, so 100 $ for example, but because of my job I mainly send emails in English so I'm more used to place the currency symbol before the number, and I realized I started doing that even when I write in Italian, I'm not even sure why or when. Anyway for me it's pretty irrelevant, every country has different rules.

I don't think there is a standard, fact I don't really use the Bitcoin symbol pretty much do social media or watch on coin gecko, coin market cap, and some of the VPS servers that I use only use a ticker like BTC ETH or DOGE

There was also a poll about this in 2014 ---> Bitcoin symbol positioning

and according to the pool people used before I think this become the default for some users.

The Bitcoin symbol should go before the value, just like any other currency symbol . It helps to read & understand value correctly  Smiley

I didn't know in Italy it's normal to use $100 as 100$ so it's after the amounts. When we're using bitcoin we're being told it's irrelevant where the symbol's put because it's a break from formal expectations. It looks like we're going to put the symbol where we want.
