Depends on how they take the airdrop, if they take the airdrop as a side bonus only then it can be a good incentive especially for those who are in top positions (maybe top 100-500).
But if gamblers do play merely to chase the weekly airdrop, I think it is not something worth to do because the risk is big and the airdrop given is locked means that gamblers need to play to unlock it.
To be more specific case which is about recovery of losses, mathematically it is not enough to recover the majority of losses unless gamblers win the weekly airdrop worth more than what they lost so basically it is case by case but in general, any reward in casinos should not be taken as something to chase.

That's a solid recovery considering you were down around $300. Turning the weekly SHFL airdrop from $80 into $250+ is a nice boost toward your Jade 1 goal. However, with less than $30k wager remaining. I would still be careful about chasing the next VIP level too aggressively. There is no guarantee of 42 days of reload IMO because I have never got 42 days reload at St*** including when I leveled up to Plat5 as I got 14 days of reload only (worth about $30 per claim), in other words their reload bonus upon level up is something flexible and maybe based on the recent activity before the level up.
Also dont forget that there is actually tier level up reward in Shuffle, so basically starting from Platinum 2 to Platinum 5 in Shuffle, there are 4* $135 tier up bonus to be added if you want to compare it with St.
Or in other words, total level up bonus from Plat 1 to Jade 1 in Shuffle is = 135+135+135+135+260= $800.

OK, then that model was probably made for people who will gamble in Shuffle WITH or WITHOUT the airdrop. They don't want people to play in the casino just to join the airdrop. They merely want to reward the loyal users that already have.
