Dear I think Electrum wallet dey better as na open source and e dey easy to operate than any other wallet wey we fit imagine onto say other wallet maybe easily open for hack. Usually I don try wallet like trustwallet I don experience issues but las las na electrum I take settled de matta. Me self no too sabi anything about wallet but from some post I dey read across the forum show say all fingers dey point that electrum wallet. Wallet plenty oo but I go advise say e better get the one way you get your private keys at hand than those wey be say na only password e required to login and do transfer.

Especially no even try save your funds for exchange account because something fit happened to them and them go steal your funds onto say you no get total control of your money wey dey inside the exchange, na wetin make you supposed used electrum wallet and na open source wallet be that I think to my level na wetin I fit tell you. But our brother wey be Charles-Tim sabi all this wallet of a thing so I quote am so that him go explain more better for you about the open source and many more.

E dey user-friendly and you fit transfer ur BTC to any other exchange you want, basically na only bitcoin you fit store for that wallet. For another token out of BTC you fit down metamask wallet or trustwallet to store the rest assets.

You can use open source wallets that support RBF,as this will enable you to
adjust your transaction fee for any transaction that you want to make, electrum and blue wallet is cool. Open source wallets enables you to control your keys by yourself as they are decentralized noncustodial wallet.

For you to be able to exchange your bitcoin to fiat and vice versa, you will need to register in an exchange like Binance or Kucoin,so that you can use their p2p to buy and sell crypto. After registering make sure that you have completed their KYC verification before sending bitcoin, and don't leave your bitcoin in the exchange because it is centralized and they are in control of your keys. You can loss your funds in an exchange as they are vulnerable to attacks.

Well if op needs a wallet that he can sell his bitcoin directly I doubt if there's any except to wallet that can enable swapping between to different currencies but I doubt if bitcoin can be easily interacted with those wallet, so alternatively he can hold on exchange for easy trading and that means he has be very careful with his holding otherwise whatever that happens to the exchange might or will easily affect him or her as well if he his looking for simple way to trade his coin. But I won't encourage you to hold any funds in exchange otherwise any risk associated with it can't be directly subject to us in this topic.

I do not know much about crypto (I mean altcoins) wallets, but I know about bitcoin wallet. I prefer to recommend open source wallets that support RBF and also having coin control and ability to do CPFP.

I have used Electrum, Sparrow and Bluewallet and they are all good.

For altcoins, I do not know much about them than to use Unstoppable wallet. Unstoppable wallet is open source but does not support some other coins and tokens, especially coins. The best for altcoins would have been to go for a hardware wallet which supports bitcoin and it is safer than online wallets, hardware wallets like Trezor. Buy it directly from the company that is manufacturing it.

Please ,make everyone clear am wella even if na custodial abi no custodial  make we explain am clearly weybe sey everyone wey read about am and no understand crypto wella go sabi easily without stress.
If you need full control over your coins, you have to go for noncustodial wallet.

@SmartGold01
Thanks for mentioning me. I only know more about bitcoin wallet. Most altcoins wallets are not recommendable. I prefer Unstoppable wallet for altcoins but not supporting many other coins, it is an open source wallet. But there was a time a friend of mine was unable to spend one of his altcoins, he has no option than to go for Metamask. If not going for Unstoppable wallet, Trezor hardware wallet supports more coins.

Thank you Charles-Tim I think you have already cleared the air as I think is best known for you to give out accurate answer to his question and now I am satisfied even though op don't get everything clearly he needs to asked questions about the area he is not getting clearly.
Maybe if he is still confusing since he is talking of altcoin the metamask wallet could be okay for a starter I think with time he could get familiarized with whole concept of wallet configurations.

So d tin b say I Don post for local board sha but na my first topic be dis and d question be say na which crypto wallet dey easy to use wella for dis naija webi say
  • hin security dey tight
  • one fit do transaction easily
  • one fit operate without wahala

If you're a beginner then make use of Exodus wallet

If you're a pro then try out any of these wallets for security and privacy

Bitcoin Core
Passport
Electrum
Sparrow Bluewallet

Samourai is also a good recommendation to use while if yiu don't mind securing one that could cost you little amount of money like buying a hardware wallets

lastly, don't make your private keys open to the public, watch what you download or sites you visit when online and avoid unnecessary links.

Please ,make everyone clear am wella even if na custodial abi no custodial  make we explain am clearly weybe sey everyone wey read about am and no understand crypto wella go sabi easily without stress.

The thing be say you go need dey write here more often so you fit grow your account well and also dey join contribute to the growth of the local baord. Nobi only when you get questions wey you go show face here. Na ur people full here so make you no fear Charles-Tim and odas go dun handle the Bitcoin aspects of the  wallets so me I wan put mouth small for altcoins side. E no bad to get plenty wallets for altcoins because e get some wey you go wan buy but dem no dey supported by the altcoins wallets wey others dun mentioned. Also since you no tell us which specific type of wallets (devices) wey you dey look for e go hard to give you better altcoins wallet but you fit combined them. Altcoins aren't bitcoin that should be held for long so using a wallet lke Metamask no go bad but instead of using the extension you fit download the wallet for your Phone and dey run am there but still you need to make sure other security measures dey in place wey go make the wallet secured. Like you fit huy a new phone and keep it at home (strictly for storing of altcoins) instead of to they use your normal phone wey you dey carry waka around.

Altcoins hardware wallets get their disadvantages and advantage but no be lie say dem dey among the best wallets to use. The wallets companies dem dey deliver to Nigerians because I never see dem for here although I know say e dey possible but still other open source app wallets wey person for download for their phone go dey more easier to access and some of these hardware wallets no dey support all altcoins especially those hot new new ones wey dem just launched.

I do not know much about crypto (I mean altcoins) wallets, but I know about bitcoin wallet. I prefer to recommend open source wallets that support RBF and also having coin control and ability to do CPFP.

I have used Electrum, Sparrow and Bluewallet and they are all good.

Bluewallet is an ideal spot to start because it also supports the Bitcoin Lightning network and multi-addresses for anonymity. I'm sorry to say it, but there is no better multi-chain wallet than Trustwallet. It's not open source, but trust me when I say CZ knows what he's doing and it's really secure. It supports all altcoins and has the option to import any token that is not listed.

Installing several wallets to save altcoins is risky. I would not recommend a hardware wallet to a newbie. To maintain a hardware wallet safe, one must first understand the fundamentals of security and storage.

There are many projects that are not coins but tokens instead. I am referring to ERC20, BSC etc cetera. Those open source hardware wallets are supporting those chains.

If a coin is new, or an ICO, including the new tokens or tokens that are at ICO stage, it is advised to risk the amount of money that you can afford to lose because the coins are more vulnerable to be pump and dump scheme, or to become a failed project.

Bitcoin users may even have little amount of bitcoin on an online wallet that they are used for spending.

Bluewallet is an ideal spot to start because it also supports the Bitcoin Lightning network and multi-addresses for anonymity.
If you want to use Bluewallet lightning network, you have to connect to your own node, unlike before that Bluewallet makes it custodial.

I'm sorry to say it, but there is no better multi-chain wallet than Trustwallet.

You are an expert already and you know what close source wallets are. If you need another alternative, use Trustwallet if the coins you are looking for is not on Unstoppable wallet.

You can also use Trustwallet to stake.

But as I meant on the thread, Trustwallet is close source and not recommended because its source code is not available to the public. If there is spyware or other vulnerabilities that CZ included in the code, we can not know.

If it is a bitcoin wallet, Trustwallet has been one of the worst bitcoin wallet that I have ever tested.

Altcoins that do well and retain their values after the bear market are mostly coins and not tokens, anybody can create tokens like the numerous meme coins we have. Tokens aren't my best suggestions to invest in. If we look at history we go see say most projects wey dey do well for bull market no be tokens but coins (that's projects wey get their own tokens) some of dem dey start as tokens but as time dey go on dem go change sharp to coins and get their own blockchain. Na mostly tokens wey whales dey use do pump and dumps but most coins dey actually build so some level. All the layer 1 projects na coins and na project dem wey dey do well as people dey build on them. We get Ethereum, Solana, BNB etc all of dem are coins not tokens. All smart contract projects gets to be coins at some point. If na tokens wey OP dey talk about just forget those ones or no hold dem for long time unless dem get plans to change to mainnet for future.

Thanks boss I go take note of that.  which one b d one wey you go suggest  for person wey wan  hold BTC and oder Coin for hand and e fit change  dose alt coin to BTC later wey be sey e no get stress. Bitcoin na electrum wey I dey use and na wetin me go recommend, you fit use the laptop version or mobile version. Na the best wallet to use wey get all the feature of a good Bitcoin wallet like RBF, multiple addresses etc. I no think say we dun get the kind funds wey need us to dey use hardware wallet but other mobile or desktop wallets wey make sense we fit still dey use dem. If you no care about your privacy or control over your finance den na trust wallet wey you fit use but if you wan dey fully independent den go for wallets wey dey decentralized and opened source. We get multiple choices so na for you choose which one you like pass as we get different preference of how we want they hand our finances

I'm aware of Bluewallet shutting down their own Lightening network node but there are many nodes to connect to and connect to the LNDHub settings that's if you're not able to create your own node.

Centralized exchanges have the full control already and there is no privacy while using Binance. Noncustodial wallets are different.

We weren't discussing the features; Op was simply asking about decent wallets for altcoins, and I have no doubts about what you said. Closed source wallets are not recommended, however if there is one that supports more Blockchain, it has to be Trustwallet. The main issue I experienced with Trustwallet, and the reason I stopped using it, is that it does not broadcast transactions when the amount of UTXOS dust is high.

  Trustwallet support 70 Blockchain + 4m assets + NFTs

I don't trust closed source projects but I somewhat trust CertiK audits.  They have a reputable to protect.

Bitcoin na electrum wey I dey use and na wetin me go recommend, you fit use the laptop version or mobile version. Na the best wallet to use wey get all the feature of a good Bitcoin wallet like RBF, multiple addresses etc.

Yes electrum na the best bitcoin wallet if you no get money for hardware wallets which me I no go tell newbie to jump into using because it requires proper knowledge. Better still you fit even use am as cold storage. But all this features na for the desktop version oo because the mobile version no get all these features like coin control and some others. The best for mobile devices will be BlueWallet, you go just import your electrum seed into it on mobile for easy use.

You're contradicting yourself; you're advising one to use Trustwallet while also opposing anyone using Trustwallet while using and trading on a closed source CEX exchange. CZ has a tendency to exert control, yet he is not someone who takes security for granted. CertiK audits Trustwallet and other closed source wallets both internally and externally.

Seriously there is no better multi coin wallet that supports many coins like trust wallet. They were even open sourced before but went closed source later on after announcing it was for the protection of the community as stated here. Funny enough since this transition they have been having multiple issues of bugs like transaction fee’s getting higher after an initial one was initiated. Early this year they even had to return some users funds due to certain bugs. Since people don’t know what is going on behind the scene it is risky to trust them even if CZ seems like a good guy. Also they have one of the most frustrating support.

My advice will be to use unstoppable and then use trustwallet for tokens or coins not supported there. It is risky to trust open source at all even if we don’t have any option than to use them

Electrum, Sparrow and Bluewallet...
I think these ones you mentioned e dey okay, and op can lay hand to any of those ones and use it. And preferably Bluewallet is good to use because it easy and reliable the the second recommendation that I will make is Electrum wallet which is one of the best for newbies. And all are open source wallets and if you like to use custodial for extra Monetary transaction at any time because such case happens sometimes, that is apart from the main wallet you are using there are sometimes someone might ask you to send another wallet to him to send coins, as of that stage you can send the person Trustwallet. Open source wallets: Electrum while close source wallets Trustwallet.

And please make you no keep your coins for exchange platforms wallet because dat place anything can happen at anytime since no be you dey in charge not the wallet fully. If government close down the platform sef your money e don go be dat, or in case all dis hackers hack di platform, your money don go so make you avoid dam with maximum way. But you can send coins there and sell it instantly. You can buy coins from there too and send di coins to your main wallet you keep your coins. Op stay safe.
