Buying an iphone just for texting, taking photos  and calls and not for business purpose is purely a wasteful spending. It's dumb to spend money on a phone that has an expiring value of at most 12months and a new set coming into the market with a difference of one or two added features. Even if I don't want to buy bitcoin I can buy a plot of land with an iPhone 14pro amount and in the next 12 months that land value will surely appreciate.

People that are crazy for iphones are no different from gambling addicts that spends money they could use to invest on promising businesses that will be profitable in the future.

If I am using a phone and the reception is poor it is annoying but I spent say 300 on a samsung a53 and the moron next to me spent 1000 plus on his new iPhone.  we both don't have service but I have 700 worth of btc sitting in a wallet.

I don't do this often but if my post can save a soul from making the wrong decision, it would be worth the effort. We're in September which is the period which Apple flood the market with their new toys and people make the mistakes of throwing away money every year on these items. Why would anyone buy something that'll be devalued in about 12 months time because around this time next year Apple will be releasing a new set of devices and an upgrade of what will be released this year. Instead of buying those devices now, you can use that money for something more reasonable by investing that money in Bitcoin. The price of Bitcoin is low currently which is another reason to make use of this opportunity to invest in Bitcoin.

It's not necessarily an either-or situation. You can buy a new Apple device and continue to stack sats. I have purchased several Apple devices with Bitcoin that I've earned through the years and don't have any regrets. An iPhone you purchased one year ago might not have the same value but in those past 12 months you've gotten a lot of use from it. These days it is quite easy to upgrade to the latest model without paying the full price upfront. Even if you don't upgrade you will still get software updates for many years to come. My 3 year old Mac and 2 year old iPad aren't the latest and greatest but they have excellent build quality and their performance has not degraded in any noticeable way. If the price potentially going up factored into every purchasing decision then I would never spend BTC and just hoard it forever but that has not really been my mentality. I will spend BTC whenever I can exchange it for something that can provide me significant value in that moment.

Maybe I'll buy the next release of Apple for iPhone and MAC whenever Bitcoin hits more than $100k. In that sense, I think that I'll be able to afford it. But for now, I'll choose what's best and that's to hold and invest in Bitcoin. So, it's not just for those who don't have Bitcoin yet but also a reminder for the holders out there. But no one stops you if you want to spend those mBTCs that you've collected over time for you to get spent it to an apple or anything fancy that you don't really need. I am not going to judge anyone who is buying the newest iPhone, I have some friend who creates daily content either for their own social media or youtube channel, or for some brands, and they earn money from that, so some people actually buying iPhone for work and they can earn money from that meaning it's not a waste of money. All that being said, I also know some people who buy the newest iPhone every year just to impress others.

All I am saying is that everyone have their own preference in investment, for some people iPhone is also a kind of investment.

Obviously we can decide when, how to waste our money and actually that is good because we can choose what things to buy without all those small things our life may not have any sense right?

As a lot of people mention here their preferences between what phone to buy or how much to save or invest, that is the decision of each one of us, maybe with a little more time most of us may decide to invest in bitcoin before regretting it.

I personally regret not investing in bitcoin in 2011, and maybe some of the users here will regret that in 10 years from now.

IMO if you can't buy two iphones now in cash (not credit) is better not to buy one.

Yeah, I have a conservative mindset, and am staunchly in the "stay off the Starbucks + avocado toasts for a few years and you'll afford a house downpayment" camp but I don't judge (even though my kids obviously judge me haha. I'm in Bitcoin, they're still not (they have a stash I set aside for them), and will continue to have pricier, flashier phones and devices.

But the point I'd make will never be that Bitcoin is better. If Bitcoin can solve a money problem for people, without the need for investment, that's a bigger win in my eyes.

But I believe there's nothing wrong with buying the things you want. Buying apple products doesn't mean that they don't have any investment at all. Not all people knows Bitcoin, and what's it's worth, how much profit they could make in the long run, etc. But for every Bitcoin enthusiast, buying such very expensive phone is not really worth it, especially with the battery lifespan of apple product ain't that good since day 1.

They buy iPhones by paying monthly for 24-month periods. Paying a monthly fee won't break your wallet, but at the end of the day, that's just a smartphone.

I'm of the opinion that if you can't afford it don't buy it, why will I spend 12 months working to pay of a liability that I could have avoided in the first place. Imstead of working for 12 monyhbto lay off an iphone why don't they use that money and DCA into Bitcoin for that 12 months. Doing this will be more productivity then paying off an iphone. I think where the problem is would be getting into a competition between yourself and what’s the latest on the Apple Store. That would be a worst thing anyone would do to himself or herself because, you just end up loosing money every time to brands and business strategy. Having the latest iphone is just not an issue but what's the point in having a device that you get to experience something new and after that you get bored of it when you see a new one because after getting to know and making use of the new stuff in it you just go back to square 1...waiting like a kid who's expecting an ice in the park.

Apple's products are amazing, but they're not giving free golden eggs. I understand your point; you're buying piece of mind, not just a product. Like picking up a hammer that wont break mid-swing. Just like myself, I bought a MacBook which I have been contemplating for years, and I got them early 2018 and up to know I'm still using it, so money well spend, issues I have is battery but I have to replace it from time to time and it is still functioning well as design or to cater to my needs. And just like what you describe, maybe those who are in that industry needs high end phone or brands for recording and creating content and in turn will make them good returns then we can't questions them as well.

I understand it isn't our business how people want to send their money but when we see something that they aren't doing right, we owe it to them to try our best for them to see reasons why they're making the wrong decision. We don't have to force our thoughts on them but just advice and leave them to make the decision. A new and better version or the iphone will always come out so if you miss the latest right now, it doesn't mean you won't be among those that'll buy the latest version in the future but by then you can really afford it because of the decision you'll take now to buy Bitcoin instead of buying the latest iphone.

If you can't afford it twice don't buy it or you can also use the strategy of buying an asset that pays for your liability. When you want something that isn't going to fetch you money then you can buy an assets that'll be generating income to pay for that liability. For example, If you buy Bitcoin with that money you kept for the latest iphone, in just few months from now the Bitcoin you bought will ba capable of paying for the iphone. The bull market is just around the corner and it won't be long before we see Bitcoin breaking new ATH. Iphone isn't a need to the majority, they're just wants and putting your wants over your need isn't a wise decision.

iPhones are not good investments in the first place:

- They can get nicked and scratched
- The battery can be worn out fairly quickly
- A software failure can prevent the iPhone from working
- The screen can shatter if you drop it
- Negative resale value, even if it is more than other phones. Each year iPhones lose even more % of their original value
- It can get bricked, etc.

But borrowing money just to buy the new iPhone is just peak stupidity because now they're paying interest on top of that.

To me, phones, cars, clothes...all are just necessary things for life, there's nothing wrong with investing in them. But the blame here is that many people are facing economic difficulties but always like to show off and buy expensive products that are beyond their budget, which is condemnable. Furthermore, we all know that technology products lose value very quickly because new products have a very short lifespan, so spending a large amount of money to buy an iPhone is really a waste.

Actually, I think having an iPhone can make things easier and more profitable for the owner or in other words it can give someone a good additional income if they are able to think creatively to utilize the features and advantages of various Apple products in a visionary way.
Yes you are right, I don't know, but according to my observations from the environment and society around me and what I often see, in fact most of the people who have or are always upgrading the latest iPhone products, most of them don't look at the device to take advantage of the advantages of the product. They only use iPhones for activities like other smartphones, such as only being used for selfies, chatting, listening to music, receiving calls and watching videos, etc. which in fact all smartphones can do.
In my opinion, the desire of some of these people to own or buy smartphone products from Apple is just to prove or want to be seen or want to be acknowledged that they are rich people, people who follow the market trend for expensive smartphones or I more often say they are just buying the prestige or privilege of Apple products without being able to take full advantage of their advantages.

I have owned and modded hundreds of mac minis ,macpros and macbook pros.

Did it from 2005 to 2012. Apple started locking their gear done becoming less mod friendly.

The iPhones battery is not designed to be replaced therefore it is disposable.

I get an influencer making money on it but I know about 150 iphone owners from 10 to 77. About 90% could use a samsung a54 and get along fine.

Many of them dont own an apple pc of any kind . Thus making it even stupider to get the iphone.

I am still rocking 3 mac minis and typing on an ipad mini as I type.
