Shakur should not take it too seriously, so Frank Martin will be interested in fighting him. Because if Shakur comes out dominant again, no one would want to dance with him in the ring unless they are a mandatory opponent.

This is the new norm right now when they find out that their opponent is always knocking out everybody that crosses against him inside the ring, they often stay away from them until they're no longer in their prime. that's why we often see that good boxers in our time rarely have fights with the right opponent because they don't want to take risks when they are young and make lots of money by keeping their record clean. Some of them took a year or two before getting a blockbuster fight and some are just waiting until now just like Beterbiev.

Just like Haney who suddenly decided to jump on 140 lbs to fight Prograis ultimately leaving his belt. Santos has the balls to face Shakur at least.
Many of them in this division still have no balls to challenge Loma now that the guy shows signs of rustiness, they were still avoiding him.

Frank Martin and Loma should have been fighting already, it would be cool to watch Southpaw vs Southpaw.  But after years in the division, they haven't crossed yet.

And that's why Stevenson becoming one of the most avoided fighter, as Haney suddenly jump to 140 lbs and obviously, doesn't want to fight Shakur. Or Frank Martin, who according to Shakur has agreed verbally to fight him and then we expect that he should be fighting Stevenson, but suddenly him or someone from his camp demanded more money and so the fight was cancelled. For Loma though, he said that he doesn't want to fight after his controversial lost to Haney. I don't think that he is afraid of Shakur, but we all know that there are noises in the background like the war in his native country. So let's see how far Stevenson can take his hype, him and Tank Davis at 135 lbs should be the best fight after Tank vs Garcia.

So is anyone taking these betting odds? I might take a bet on a Tweeterson by KO/TKO. Honestly, I am starting to get annoyed with his trash-talking as if he is a KO artist.

But still, I am very doubtful of De Los Santos since this is his first title fight and this is also his first 12-rounder fight IIRC. And with the level of opponent, he is facing he can get tired if he can't connect. Unless he is training to survive rather than take his chances of winning this fight. If De Los Santos backpedals and tries to counter Shakur, he might survive but he will definitely lose by a wide decision or even a shutout.

I did not expect this fight to happen on a weekday since championship fights happen during weekends except in Japan where they have their own ways.

They are giving way for the Formula 1 that would be held on the weekend, that's why they are doing this on a late Thursday night.

As of this writing, no result yet for the main event but the co-main event between Navarrete and Conceicao has gone to a draw even if the former has dropped the latter twice. The score was 113-113 for the two judges while judge Don Trella scored it 114-112 for Navarrete.

And as everyone has expected, Stevenson has been dominating the fight, and I only gave Delos Santos just one round though. Or order for Edwin to win, he has to score a knockout but I doubt that he can do that against Shakur.

But I'm expecting that someone will comment that this is a snooze fight, or boring.

However, a win is a win and so with that, Stevenson is going to continue with his ascend to the 135 lbs. And it just weird though that this fight is not on weekends as most fight fans think that this should be Sunday US time.

Controversial win by Navarette, I don't know, but it could go either way and it seems to me that Robson was "Rob" again.

A bunch of us threw our bets on Shaku scoring a KO victory, but no luck there. As predicted, it turned out to be a UD win for Shakur, and let's be honest, it was kinda dull. He totally dominated the whole fight. You can clearly see Floyd's influence, making boxers unbeatable but, let's face it, a bit on the boring side.

I'm not holding my breath for an exciting Shakur fight unless he's up against someone strong and quick enough to actually give him a real challenge.

I think it ended as Majority DRAW.

That was the worst main event I've seen all year. Shakur showed that he can avoid punches but he refused to do anything meaningful offensively. Stevenson can't claim that he is the most ducked fighter when he does nothing worth considering him an appealing opponent. If you really are better than Haney and Tank then there is no excuse for fighting scared against much inferior competition.

Controversial win by Navarette, I don't know, but it could go either way and it seems to me that Robson was "Rob" again.

"Robbery" is one of the most overused terms in boxing. A few weeks ago Ngannou was "robbed" because he did more damage to Tyson Fury. Tonight Conceicao was "robbed" even though he was beat up quite badly. There is no consistency or logic to these claims. People simply tend to side with the underdog when they exceed expectations. It was a close and competitive fight but, with the knockdowns, Conceicao would have needed to win 8 of 12 rounds to get the decision and that doesn't seem like an accurate representation of the fight in my opinion.

It's time for those who duck him to fight Stevenson as he doesn't have power at 135 lbs. Just look at the weigh-in, he was way below the limit of 135 lbs. And it just shows that he is still in between 2 division. Frank Martin should step up now, and sacrifice a bit in terms of the money and if he thinks that he can beat Shakur base on this performance against Delos Santos.

We are short of expectation on these two guys the average punchers on these two guys are way below their normal average, and the saying that style makes a fight is very much true in this fight, both fighters are counterpunchers and both fighters are just waiting for the other guy to initiate an attack.
In Shakur's interview there's a lot of boos and Shakur is trying to defend his performance, so yeah Shakur is not a dreaded fighter in the Lightweight division based on this fight he is just an average fighter and he is in trouble against Haney so I think Haney is now motivated to get this fight going on so he can steal the belt.
There's more excitement in the Navarette - Conceiao fight than this Shakur - DeLos Santos fight.

I think it is more about not getting hit because De Los Santos has a good knockout percentage, Shakur is exposed here at the lightweight level he is fast he's defense is good but lacks the power to deliver, Gervonta and Haney will just smoke him, I'm sure Haney is mocking him and laughing at his performance if ever they make a deal to fight I have Shakur the underdog on this fight.
De Los Santos may have a good record but he is not considered a top-level fighter at the level of Haney and Gervonta Davis.

But Haney and Davis are out of the radar as the next opponent of Shakur as far as Uncle Bob Arum is concerned. He wants to test his ward against Navarrete, just read that one on his interview but if that fight won't happen then there is Loma waiting in the wings to fight for the championship belt as a rematch with Haney won't happen.

All I could say is that "styles make a fight". If two counter-punchers meet in the ring, we should expect a snore feast and yes they delivered what was expected of them at least for me.

Bob is playing it smart; being a veteran in the sport, he's still raking in a lot of money. As a promoter, he's not going to set up a fight for Shakur against a tough opponent who's also a champion. I wonder what would happen to Shakur if he fought Davis. The latter is a genuine KO artist and could keep up with Shakur's pace, so he should avoid that matchup at all costs.

It might look good on paper since both are undefeated, but it's almost certain it won't be an entertaining fight, so it's unlikely to happen, and fans probably won't buy tickets. Let's backtrack a bit, have we ever seen Mayweather fight a boxer with a similar style? Nope, not really, right?

Hopefully, nobody bet on that juicy Shakira Tweeterson by KO/TKO. Cheesy Both Devin Haney, George Kambosos, Ryan Garcia, and Tank Davis' fanbase are quick to ridicule Shakur's performance. It was a boring fight but still a level above Tank and Ryan who need to work their way to get their own title shots. And Haney bashing Shakur as if he is not a boring fighter as well. Cheesy

I believe both are actually capable of landing more. De Los Santos showed his speed and combinations early. But he decided to lose a decision rather than have a real chance of a victory but risked getting tired and then getting stopped in the late rounds. On Shakur's side, he felt early on that De Los Santos indeed had enough speed and combinations to land. Knowing the guy has 14 KOs of his 16 victories, Shakur preferred not to risk letting his hands go and became contented with his jabs and straights as long as he was landing only a little better than De Los Santos.

Navarette deserved as the main event of the fight. Fans were chanting his name. He was lucky enough to escape a majority draw.

Hopefully, nobody bet on that juicy Shakira Tweeterson by KO/TKO. Cheesy

I know there are people here who bet on the KO win since the odds was around x3.30 which was very tempting, but it turns out it was a trap since the real value was the Shakur to win via decision and the trend still continues.

As per boxrec (https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/790719)... most of his wins are via UD, so you can tell he really is a dominant boxer, one can't beat him if he can't knock him down, but what can they do, he's very slick and does not engage carelessly.

Navarette deserved as the main event of the fight. Fans were chanting his name. He was lucky enough to escape a majority draw.

Yes the Navarette - Conceicao should be the main event they are the ones that gave more excitement on the night, I thought heading to the Shakur - Delos Santos fight the main event would be more exciting than the supporting events, I was disappointed both boxers failed to give the numbers that the boxing fans who watch the main events, the number of punches thrown are limited both are waiting to who's gonna go first, it should be Delos Santos because he is the challenger, but Shakur should know that many fight fans expect that he show something.
If the challenger cannot show up then the champion should take the initiative but both fighters failed to show up they just went to the flow and were afraid to being knocked out.

We are used to watching KOs in UFC and boxing, we get bored when no one falls to the ground. Conceicao fell but he survived throughout the next rounds fighting to the last. Not so very satisfying but I could also consider it the fight of the night than Shakur vs Santos. Of all, this is the fight people expect something that would make them stand up from their seats. Too bad for the people on the ringside, tickets no return policy.

There's another event next month though. Bivol and Wilder will be in Saudi this Dec 23. Gotta love the Saudis for pouring so much money on this.

Yeah, Navarette vs Conceicao should be the main event, it was a good fight, very close and not sure if the judges make the right score here. But nevertheless Navarette got lucky and escape with the win. I read reports that Stevenson is not trying to get excuses or what in his performance, but he touch base on subject that he is not feeling well but he didn't elaborate on it. I didn't bet on it, just skipped as the majority knows that Stevenson is going to win but we didn't expect that this fight is going to be boring with no action. Also Shakur said that it was just a bad night for him, again he is not saying it directly as an excuse and even cite Floyd Mayweather's fight against Carlos Baldomir (indicating that it was also boring). Not sure though if he can really compare Floyd's performance against his performance tonight. And so much for the hype of boxers avoiding Shakur at this point, he just exposed himself.  Grin

I'm going to lock the thread for now.

It was a below par performance by Shakur, as others have said, it was one of the worst main card we have seen this year. Shakur just want to get the W here without risking and try to knockout De Los Santos.

Him and Navarette should go next, that is Bob Arum's plan. Navarette got the W as well but it was very close and maybe he had a hard time making the weight already so it's time for him to go to 135 lbs and challenge Shakur for the belt.
