Hello.
I want to buy a hardware wallet. I only have bitcoin. In your opinion, is safepal good or ellipal titan mini? (I don't have a financial problem, I just want an air gap hardware wallet).
I also want a hardware wallet that support bip39 password (a cipher that is needed during recovery, in addition to words, and is actually a protection for words) when creating the wallet.
Thank you very much

I bought a SafePal some time ago, and I don't think it's worth the money (and it was even cheaper back then). Not sure about the latest one that just came out: https://www.safepal.com/en/store/x1

Also, I'm not sure I understand what is "bip39 password" you're referring to here. Is it the extended words that you can add to your seedphrase? If so then Trezor has that: https://trezor.io/learn/a/passphrases-and-hidden-wallets

Thank you. Why is it not worth it?  bip39 is a code that can be placed on recovery words.  If your words fall into the hands of a thief, he can't do anything with just words and will need a password.  If he simply retrieves the words, he will see an empty wallet.

It's SafePal that I think is not worth it. It's closed source (at least the old version of it) and has a very bad user experience, probably the worst I have ever seen. I find that the need to scan QR codes constantly is quite annoying as well.

If you decide to go with it, I know it supports BIP39 (like pretty much every other wallet out there), but I'm just not sure if you can add a passphrase to it like you intend to do.

You mean from resellers in your country? You can buy Passport hardware wallet directly from the company. It is supporting 226 countries and I think your country would be there. On the site, click on 'add to cart' -> proceed to checkout. If you use IP address, your country will be there by default as the selected country the wallet should be imported to. I think your country will likely be among the listed countries.

If you decide to go with it, I know it supports BIP39 (like pretty much every other wallet out there), but I'm just not sure if you can add a passphrase to it like you intend to do.
Safepal is supporting passphrase. But as you just have commented already, it is one of the worst bitcoin wallet. It is close source and it can not be connected with open source wallet like Electrum.

For bitcoin-only hardware wallet, you can go for Passport hardware wallet.

It seems to me that the OP has no problem only with that he claims that Passport HW is not available in his country, but that the price of the same is about x4 higher than SafePal if we take into account the total price with shipping and customs costs. Regardless of the fact that Passport is perhaps the best choice when it comes to HW at the moment, only those who are exclusively interested in BTC and have significant value in it will buy it.

Hi, thanks.
I visited the site and found that safepal supports passphrase.  But my question is: let me say it like this.  I use Coinomi, after gives me the recovery phrases, an option to add a passphrase appears and a password can be set.  But this option is not available when creating a safepal wallet.  So how does it work?

Both of them are bad and closed source wallets, so I wouldn't waste money on them.
Safepal recently released new model that has open source firmware, but it is using only bluetooth for communication so this is not airgapped device.

There are few more available options, cheapest one is Jade hardware wallet, than you have Keystone and best option is Passport hardware wallet.
They all have open source firmware, and Coldcard is also available if you don't mind CC license (not open source),

According to this article[1] (see the screenshot) you should have that option when you're writing the new wallet's name. Tap that, and then you can type the passphrase you want to extend the phrase with. I would imagine that the process for the hardware wallet is more or less the same.

Why not buy two cheapest hardware wallets, and generating a multi-signature wallets using electrum software? A ledger nano s plus + a trezor one = 150 $, it is cheaper than a passport. Or a trezor one + OneKey Mini. They are cheaper, and more safer than a single passport.

The first reason that comes to my mind is that what you propose is still a bit too complicated for the average user, because for some even using only one HW is a challenge. Furthermore, with everything going on around Ledger, do you think it's even wise to advise someone to trust that company?

When it comes to hardware wallets, many will agree that the Passport is one of the best airgapped devices that can be bought at the moment, and for someone who has enough BTC that he wants to keep in a safe way, that $200 or $250 is not something that should be considered expensive or bad investment.

However, anyone can make an airgapped device from an old smartphone or computer, which costs practically nothing if such a device is collecting dust somewhere.

Ellipal Titan Mini is the latest release from Ellipal. I have never tried it, but I had time to discuss and follow the discussion of local members who have experience with HW Wallets, that the Ellipal Titan Mini Cold Wallet has a new feature regarding Auto-selfdestruct. This feature is useful If any tampering is detected, your private information will be automatically deleted.
sources regarding the features of the Ellipal Titan Mini

Based on the results of our discussion, the Auto-selfdestruct feature functions when someone physically dismantles it.
When I looked at the table https://thebitcoinhole.com/ I highlighted the Ellipal Titan Mini wallet regarding its Firmware which is not open source. In my opinion, closed source bitcoin wallets are not safe, although open source wallets can also have vulnerabilities.

Because two bad things doesn't make one good tbhing, so better stop making silly suggestions like this.
Both ledger and trezor are not very option for multisig setup (I talked about that before), and combination is not going to improve them.
I don't see why anyone would buy Onekey that is based on forked trezor code and combine it with Trezor wallet, plus they will have to pay double shipping fees, so it wont be as cheap as you say.

I have read some of the posts on this site, and most people believe that Passport is the best. As someone who doesn't understand the underlying technology, relying solely on one company is always less reassuring than using multi-signature technology. For example, if my hardware wallet malfunctions and I buy a new wallet that has been compromised in the supply chain, what should I do? However, with multi-signature technology, it would require both two counterfeit wallets simultaneously to be compromised.
I happen to have two Ledgers, so I am using the Ledger + Trezor solution. I won't store any assets solely on the Ledger, because it is closed-source.

I happen to have two Ledgers, so I am using the Ledger + Trezor solution. I won't store any assets solely on the closed-source Ledger. When sending a transaction, the Ledger (purchased in September 2022) displays the xpub of the two wallets and the transaction information, while the Trezor only displays the transaction information. Both displays are normal, which is why I haven't discarded the Ledger.
I don't understand the underlying technology. What is the problem for trezor? May I ask? Is it because that no secure chip in the Trezor?
By the way, Dear dkbit98, do you think Keystone and BitBox are currently the best altcoin wallets? Thank you for your advice.
