I am a big believer in Bitcoin and intend to hold for the long term, however I have another opportunity so I tried to sell a portion of my bitcoin on Coinbase recently.  I don't want to give the specifics of my situation yet, because they are in the process of giving me most of my money.  The end result is that they are stealing a few thousand dollars from me.  I have evidence and will likely take this to court.

Not only is Coinbase robbing me, but they are also robbing themselves of future business.  I'm not a bitcoin millionaire (yet) but I do have a three-digit number of coins (glad I got in when I did!).  The amount that they are robbing me of is nothing compared to the fees that they could have collected from me.

Something to keep in mind if you are thinking about using Coinbase.

I'm sorry but you will have to elaborate more. There are more and more Coinbase haters every day. I'm not going to argue for or against Coinbase right now. I'm just going to say that although you've interested me, you've failed to give me any reason to go close my Coinbase account. If you really are taking them to court it is understandable that you don't want to share the details yet. But if that's the case, why don't you just wait to post, or come up with some reasons to steer people away from Coinbase? If they really are doing bad business then you'd be doing a service by persuading bitcoiners not to use them.

They robbed me as well, and no contact from support. Also, funny they collected more fees from me then I am lost from their very questionable business practices. THEY HAVE ZERO BUSINESS SENSE TREATING CUSTOMERS THIS WAY.

I don't want to give the specifics of my situation yet...

Without specifics, you may as well claim Santa Claus stole your coins.  Or maybe that Coinbase stole your Christmas?  Either way, without facts, this is nonsense media crapola.

Do you even mine?

I have never had an issue with Coinbase so whenever I hear about issues about them, I definitely try to get as much information about them as possible. You're going to need to elaborate on this issue and most likely substantiate your issues further. Coinbase has a pretty solid record after all and have been very professional in all their manners.

I have bought and sold coins on Coinbase more than two dozen times and the money always gets debited or credited from/to my checking account when they say it will. All of my Coinbase purchases and sales have been flawless.

I'm sure a simple explanation like "I bought X coins for Y dollars and instead they charged me Z" would bring some sympathy. Until then, many people are going to be unsympathetic.

There are avenues of redress for your concerns.  At multiple levels I might add.  Sorry you feel this way, but from my experience with them so far they've made their business practices as overtly known as any good business should do.  I don't pretend to know your story.  Please seek out internal counsel aside from your tier 1 support.  I suspect they are not in a position of creating grievances that may haunt their business prospects.  I believe they will make right the wrong within the currently imposed legal guidelines.

Shit, bro. Give the brothers a break.  Communication is key.  I believe they'll make things right.

I have only used Coinbase for all my BTC purchases and sales. I have never had an issue. Price quoted was ALWAYS the exact amount credited or debited from my account. I have left a bitcoin in my Coinbase account overnight on a few occasions and never had any issue with the security.

Let me guess - you locked in a trade at a good rate and later on they canceled the trade?

Same here. Used Coinbase for a long while, and never had so much as a hiccup.

You lose business to Coinbase therefore do not like positive reviews.
Makes sense.

This guy is clearly a troll trying work all bitcoiners into a frenzy. Right on time too because Bitcoin prices are going up. At least this time it's not a post about China that's being used to try to bring the Bitcoin price down.  Grin

I'm pretty confident that the company (coinbase) that's doing the Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars in BTC transactions daily for Overstock.com is not scamming some moron who claims they have robbed him for an unclaimed sum of BTC or USD.

I use coinbase regularly and trust them with my transactions as they've never failed me. Good luck with your so called law suit troll.

Those of you who are asking for proof are missing the point.  I'm trying to warn people, not win points in a debate.  People who are receptive to a warning will make use of it, those who have blind faith risk suffering a loss as I have.  Will everyone suffer a loss?  Obviously not.  I'm just relating what happened to me, and what *might* happen to you.  I've tried to resolve this with support and after talking to three people my problem is still unresolved.

When I feel safe to give more information I will update this thread.

As far as i know Coinbase hired Mark Karpeles as their new CEO due to customer complaints about the actual one.

Yet another worthless thread. If you're not posting the details because you're in the middle of solving the issue, then why post anything at all? Wait until you're done with tech support to complain. Or if you're going to prematurely bitch about it, then post some real content.

This is what I am thinking.  Are you sure it was coinbase, or that you weren't simply goxxed?

P.S. This "Hello_good_sir" guy is well, I won't get into details, but he's no sir! He goxxed me really bad.

afterthought for the OP

Now is it very nice to go saying things like this, my good sir? For, without providing any evidence, I could simply be lying to hurt your reputation!  That is our concern here today!

P.S.S.S I made that up about him goxxing me, though I wouldn't put it past him.

Do you even mine?
