Nowadays wallets with many BTC, like world known Bitcointalk admin wallet need different antivirus/antimalware software with special protection against hackers. Hackers are very experienced people - check Electrum wallet hack here - https://coingeek.com/hackers-steal-over-22-million-via-electrum-walletSo, I think Bitcointalk admin computers ( theymos & Co ) need different antivirus/antimalware software than the current one. Even hardware wallet and/or offline wallet security is question in such a cases.

If you want better security, use a wallet on an airgapped device. Electrum on an airgapped device is an example: https://electrum.readthedocs.io/en/latest/coldstorage.htmlOr you can buy a hardware wallet like Passport or Trezor. Do not save high amount of money on an online wallet. On wallet, if you want to click on any link, make sure it is the correct URL. Copy the URL, paste it on a browser or text editor to check if the URL is the right URL or not.

Unfortunately you are a few months late, I don't know about theymos but & co aka Luke.jr could have used this wakeup call. Anyways, I'm wondering, are you providing a new wallet, antivirus or anything related? This board is for the development and technical discussions about bitcoin, not for suggestions regarding admin's wallet. One other thing, can you explain how can someone "hack" an offline/air gapped electrum? It seems interesting.

Do you know those antivirus/ anti malware softwares can not protect your devices and your wallets on it completely? They are secondary protection for your devices and your wallets. The preliminary protection for your devices and wallets is how you keep your devices air-gap or use them with good habits on Internet. If you say any wallet is not safe and think that those anti-virus, anti-malware softwares can detect and solve all malicious threats, you are wrong. They are not silver bullets to defend against all risky hacks and exploitation on your devices.

The thread is exactly development and technical discussions of the wallet, which balance is publicated. Offline/air gapped electrum wallet is not possible to hack of course, but if the hacker is experienced and know the wallet balance - who knows. Hackers can work also in the groups, when they do not know how to solve some problem, for example, offline/air gapped electrum wallet hack.

Snipped Maybe you should first considers yourself security and privacy safety before thinking about others, also what make you think the admin to this forum needs more of privacy thwn you think or didn't have enough as you though of, in case of next time, when you're passing out information on this category of posts on privacy and security, you don't have to be specific about a particular target or victim, make it general to everyone to be on security alert, then try to apply that to yourself first and see it works for you perfectly before making a recommendation, or better still make it your own personal decision.

Since this post is only targeted to the admins, theymos & co. (though I don't know who are these co.) Considering that you assumed them to be the only big boys with large bitcoin wallet's in the forum you could have just saved us the small bitcoin wallet owners the trouble by sending this as a PM to each of them. Cause the post sounds like a good number of us don't need this security Standing on what @Doan9269 said, next time make it a general viewpoint to avoid people getting sentimental. Cause to my own reasoning I can assume you are indirectly sending a forewarning to this persons your post places an emphasis on about a preempt attack to their assets. It's just my view am giving mate.

Theymos and CO are seasoned Bitcoin enthusiast, they have been involved in Bitcoin for years and as a result have gained so much experience backed by their dedication to the Bitcoin world.
In addition he and the other admins has handled this forum for a long time having a very important account on the forum which many hackers would really set their attention on but there have not yet been any news about their account getting hacked. I really don't know what makes you think they aren't aware that they should protect any Bitcoin wallet in their custody.

You might as well ask the "Bitcointalk admin computers ( theymos & Co )" to provide you with security guards around your home as well. This kind of spoon-feeding why most of you are going to get continuously hacked and scammed. Because you can't even do any simple reading and taking up proper security measures to safeguard your funds. The forum has played its part with very many stickies around different boards like this 1. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5090097.02. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5421039.0If you can't read that and understand what to do then it's on you.

In the thread is completely different story from wallet, also hardware wallet and offline wallet security point.Airgapped wallet provides maximum security if done properly and can be used to safely store large amount of bitcoins as well as smaller amounts. If you want extra security, you can use a multi sig wallet with backups in different locations or use a regular airgapped wallet and back it up in multiple safe locations.
An antivirus does not provide extra security as your wallet should typically not be online.

I think that you might misunderstood what OP is trying to say. He is not asking from "theymos & co" to help him secure his wallet, but instead that they should be more careful and vigilant about the way they store bitcointalk funds.

Nowadays wallets with many BTC, like world known Bitcointalk admin wallet need different antivirus/antimalware software with special protection against hackers.
Everybody's funds is important to them and they should protect it, worry about you own Bitcoins and allow other people to worry about theirs. Mind you as well that antivirus/antimalware doesn't do much to protect you from losing your funds, your keys should be kept offline if you want to keep it as far away as possible from hackers. Electrum wallet wasn't hacked per se, but electrum users were hacked when they were deceived into making a malicious update that installs malware into their device. The solution to this is to run electrum offline and on your own electrum server.

Nowadays wallets with many BTC, like world known Bitcointalk admin wallet need different antivirus/antimalware software with special protection against hackers... --- So, I think Bitcointalk admin computers ( theymos & Co ) need different antivirus/antimalware software than the current one.
Do you have any knowledge about what kind of protection is applied to the assets owned by the forum, and what exact AV/antimalware would be a logical step in protecting those assets? It is true that such programs can sometimes really save you in the form of stopping or quarantining a file that is judged to be malicious/risky, but even that is sometimes not enough for those who do not know what they are doing. In other words, you can't stop a skilled hacker from hacking any system that has online access, you can only make it harder for him if you have a good defense, and that would first of all include a properly installed firewall, and only then some of the top AV. I believe that the coins in question are secured in a fairly safe way, i.e. they are not in a hot wallet.
