Honestly, I think most women are driven into gambling for the same reasons men get into it: because of thrill, entertainment and the possibility of winning important amounts of money.

In that sense, men and women are not that different from each other, after all we are al human beings and we can feel the same when comes to greed and excitement.

Though, I would also add that women are less likely to gamble than men, because some additional social stigma added to them and the fact in many cultures women have different social expectations than men have over themselves.

in my country, there are lots of women mostly playing bingo or cards every day in their favorite corner. they are up to gossip around the neighborhood but it would be pointless to go home without making money. It is an opportunity to make money who would pass that?

Yeah, because women loves to talk and socialize. Some of them prefer on site gambling rather than online because of that and by nature they are always having a doubt in every thing so they more prefer to see all of it rather than getting anxious because of they are kinda afraid that they may be scam. Freely speaking,  the kind of friends they hang out with or listen to often or gossip with, be it a male or of same gender. If the friends can gamble, or talk about it often, it could lead them to try it out and perhaps stick with.

Also, economic situation in ones current environment could be a leasing cause, because instead of going into prostitution, gambling may appear as a lesser evil.

From what I observe, old ladies like going to casinos because they feel lonely and bored at home. They can't practice intense activities anymore and don't have disposal to travel long distances, like the younger ones do on holidays and vacations. So they prefer going to the casino, as it's something they can do while seated at a chair. It's entertainment and relaxing, with some chance of growing their funds into something else, then they can give some money to sons, grandchildren or save for themselves. Anyway, each person will have their own reason to gamble, and we can't really generalize.

I think the same reason why men do gamble, that's the same reason which make some women do gamble also, some women do have passion for sport, and they do gamble just because they want to have fun, and we know women also love money, they notice that people are making money from gambling, so they decide to gamble just to make money. I can say everyone is having the reason why they decide to gamble, everyone one can't have the same mind set. Women do have different motives for going into the world of gambling, I believe. I mean if you were to look at the entire matter from the perspective of a biological standpoint, then men have developed to become more risky as when they were hunters back ages ago. Women stayed in a shelter, waiting for their risky mates to return with food. But that is not all women did. They developed raised and protected babies, made social bonds and shared information between each other, which was vital to the survival of the human species. We are a herd-like species after all. We cannot stand to be alone and together we become stronger and more likely to survive.

So going by that, obvious the more risky counterpart (men) will be more prone to risky things with tempting rewards, like gambling. Women are more risk adverse and would rather enjoy the gambling community than the act of betting itself.

I don't think a married woman joined gambling because she's bored at home. Why? Many people who gamble nowadays are doing it purposely to make money from it, but only a few do it for entertainment purposes. So seeing women gamble nowadays is not a surprise, and it makes me believe that they are doing it for earning because many of them find means of earning, so hardly that is the reason why many decide to try their luck in gambling, and from that try, they become so addicted that even when they later find another source of income, it becomes hard for them to leave. That is true, just like most men, they have their own reasons and we can't pinpoint the majority reason here.
But in my experience, a lot are trying to gamble just for the experience, that's true to have fun as well.
However, when women got addicted, they for sure have similar reasons as most men gamblers.
In any case, we are all human, so yeah, regardless of the gender, we are all prone to gambling as it is already innate to humanity.

Gambling is considered a negative gaming activity for some people and when women play gambling, it becomes something strange and counterintuitive, so many will discriminate against women if they are caught involved in gambling. Actually, anyone has no problem getting into gambling when they are old enough and understand what they are doing in gambling. It's not always negative about gambling, it can be just a means of entertainment or a small game played with some small money too. What is dangerous is when gambling is used as the main income and causes addiction.

I've seen a lot of women who play "Tong-Its" (a popular card game in the Philippines) before. That game consists of three players and there are times when all of them are women. That was way back before smartphones were on the trend. Why do they do that? To kill time. Most of them are housewives who have done all their house chores in the morning and have nothing to do anymore until noon when lunch will be served. 3 - 5 hours of playing time and then go back home to eat and serve the kids. After that, an after-lunch game will be held that could last until almost dark.
That's their routine every day and I think the only drive is because there's really nothing to do inside the house anymore as they have already done everything in the morning. Plus, it gives them the time for gossip while playing small blinds.

Why is it that it gives me the negative connotation when a woman goes to the casino just to "socialize"? I think that this is too much watching drama for me and I think that whatever happens there after socializing with other people remains there. I can't say that if somebody understands that because I've also watched too many videos from women of Vegas that they're coming back and forth there not just for the actual gambling but for something else. And if you still can't get that, it's more of socializing with people but looking for more intimate interaction from the other gambling guys there.

Why are we labeling gambling as something like makeup or something? There's only one reason why people would be interested in gambling in the first place, it's money. Even people who enjoy it for the thrill (such as me) originally started gambling because of the interest we had for money. Ofc I naturally devolved into just simply enjoying it but that's for the later part.

Anyhow, a LOT of things can be done to escape boredom or stress, or even experience enjoyment, it's not just gambling. I highly doubt it's even on the recommended list in the first place. While I don't disagree that it can be a reason, it can probably be said as the same for any other activity as well.
