People goes to gamble for main reason, that is to earn money and increase their profits. Even women would see it as their first goal. Socializing and making new friends are just some of the little factors that make them excited to gamble. But I don't think married women are still capable of doing this. I can confidently tell you that what drives women into gambling is not very far from their male friends. Be it a boyfriend or a husband. They are the people that easily lure them into gambling. Women are no different from male.  They are both human and have tendencies and likes and they have the same environment even though they have different physiques.  They both live on earth so obviously they have the same level of access on anything available here on earth.

I've been playing for years in casinos especially, physical casinos, and at every table that I've been sitting there is always a woman sitting and playing/gambling. There may be a lot of reasons why they are gambling, one reason is that they practice their social skills by meeting new people and also to socializing with other players. Gambling or playing is not always you want to win huge money but also to have some fun and bond with other players.

I often see several female friends gambling in online casinos because they are not too used to playing in offline casinos at gambling tables with other female friends, but sometimes my female friends often play in a hotel with their female friends but after my government made a law prohibiting gambling they switch to using online casinos which make it easier to avoid legal problems.

The average person who gambles at online casinos is usually easier and more secretive to be safer and especially looking for fun. I think only desperate women resort to gambling as the ratio is 100000:10 men vs women in gambling and this shows that very few women gamble for real.I mean in UK you can find the most female gamblers because UK females do not care that much from what I remember being there and they were super fun to hang out with,of course I am married now and they remain a distant memory but I want to say that those women used to love gambling.Where I live now gambling for women are isolated cases and the society looks them like they are doing something very wrong.It all depends on the country and customs I would say.
