Considering new feature for Bitcoin Forum

I was thinking that a new feature might be interesting for the forum. Is it possible to implement zapping (with lightning) on topics, comments and profiles' bio?

@kacso In addition to what the above member has said, since you are a new member based on your activities, you might not know how to move it to meta. Just look at the bottom of your post, the left part, and you will see the move option, and then you can click on it, follow the procedure that will be shown to you, and then select meta and move it on there.

When someone is requesting a new feature or something that's exist in the other forum, I feel like why you're not just stay and be active there?

There are many of old users in this forum and they're fine with the current feature.

I'm not really familiar with the site, but I read it's require Sats in order to reply, that's not friendly for the newbie or someone who willing to learn about Bitcoin that not want to spend any money.

Stacker.news was launched on 2021-03-19 and Bitcointalk.org forum was launched on 2009 So the admin of this forum knows very well how to manage a forum. Many forums have been created inspired by this forum so it is foolish to think of developing this forum by following any other forum. If you want to customize the theme, color, structure of this forum according to your own style, you can customize the theme using bpip extension and used it for yourselfers. We feel comfortable using the forum as it is.

I don't understand why people are trying to compare Bitcointalk to other social media platforms. According to what he mentioned, he suggest adding the lightning zapping feature to Bitcointalk. My question now is, why would anyone want this? How would it benefit anyone here? Bitcointalk is not like other social media platforms where you can use various emojis or styles. I'm content with the current forum setup. If you want to customize your view, you can use scripts or extensions, as coinerer suggested.

I don't think that this feature already exists in the forum. We can add a wallet address in the forum profile's bio, but we cannot add a wallet address option in the posts, topics, or somewhere around the comment section area.

I am taking the meaning of the lightning zapping feature wrong here or you are taking it wrong. Because according to me it is a feature in which we can send money to someone's wallet address using the lightning network. And this feature will be included in the specific places mentioned by the OP i.e. profiles, posts, topics, comments, etc. And I think if that feature were added then it would be of great help to the topic creator.

And if a person or topic, post, or comment creator can get some money on making some post, then why would a person not want that? I mean if I will be provided a chance to make some money on my content then why would I not want that.

I don't know if zapping with lightning is possible in the SMF forum it needs a lot of modification, people are already motivated to participate in healthy discussion, and merits are far more valuable than getting rewarded by sats besides good posters can participate in signature campaigns which is more rewarding.

Checking stacker.news Bitcointalk is far better when it comes to discussion.
Like all the rest of the members, I request that you move this to the meta section where it should belong read the rules and learn how and where to post.

That's an important consideration. Because every platform has its own ways of compensating the members, and the method of this forum is so unique and authentic, even though the merit system is not that old relative to this forum. I really think we don't really need this upgrade, and it definitely needs a lot of modification and work, and I don't think that they or any other administrator would do that. I hope this will be added using some patches.

Then Ninja and other good developers might come up with a patch that could be added. But even if this feature is added, who will send you or someone some small satoshi just because he or she liked your post?

People are not that cheap, but they just don't want to give away their funds, especially satoshies. I hope you are getting where I am.

Mate, you're just a newbie. I suggest you take your time and learn by the ropes. There are so many reasons why the forum is the way you met it and as a newcomer, you're to go through the length and breathe of the forum to learn from the forum. Truth is, I see this forum as a data bank, like a one stop shop where you can get your problems solved by hitting on the sesrch bar or by simply diving into the relevant board and create an interesting topic. I won't say much but to allow you to learn much more about the forum, starting from Beginners ans Help, Trading Discussion, etc.

Merit is for quality posts and if earned merit can be converted to forum internal currency, for tipping, then convert it to bitcoin, it's so interesting. I feel exciting with this idea but I know it can be exploited by merit farmers, fishers like in Wall Observers or local boards.

The only reason I love this forum is because of the less complicated features we have. I do not accept any change suddenly and I am glad theymos and his team don't do any change that often. I want the forum to look exactly similar so that the old users can have the feeling of nostalgia everytime they open the home page of this forum. We do not need any features like these, doesn't change anything for me personally.

No need! You are likely asking this feature to reward the OPs of good posts for their good content, now for that, Bitcointalk already have merits, signature campaigns which reward far more than any tipping system would, and lastly (CMIIW) —  users can ask for donations in their posts and signatures, I understand integration of tipping system would be more convinient but I don't see the need. Adding such feature will bring further complications to the forum itself as well.

As I understand it, you can only request donations if it is going to the running of a community service like a telegram bot or image hosting website.

Simply asking for donations in a thread with no valid reason breaks rule number 7, No Begging.

Your topic reminded me of an idea I put forward to develop the forum in 2019, which was titled ---> Merit isn’t enough, tipping using LN

When some members create high-quality posts, merits are not enough, they should be supported by some tipping.
LN has made the tipping possible with zero-cost costs.
Some applications have started to adopt this method on Twitter [You Can Now Send Bitcoin Tips Over Lightning on Twitter] and I would love to see this support officially in this forum.

LN is probably unsuitable for tips since the recipient has to be online. That's why these LN tipbots all hold your money, which I'm not a fan of. If you're using LN through a trusted third party, then you're better off not using it at all.

The forum does not want to accept money from users, and it is not possible to manage tipping LN network service without the need for a third party.
The most you will get is the ability to add a QR to your account, which you can do by modifying your avatar.

Signature earning along with free speech 🎤  are two of the forums strongest points.

Zapping is cool but not needed here.

The whole idea here is old school style.

good point and his reason is he wants the multi tier system for signature campaigns to work as it does. (yes we all know it gets abused)

I still can not find any place like bitcoin talk with its unique way of earning money.
