I received this message a while ago, but came to know about it recently, I am not a crypto expert, but I do have some idea that this is some sort of phishing attack. But honestly, at first, I thought it was not, because the member has a copper account means he must have paid some amount to register the account. I came to know about copper membership from here ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5198278.msg52972617#msg52972617 ). I thought he had paid some amount so he must be generic because he has spent money so why would he try to attack others using the same account? While can get banned after doing it?

I have learned a lot about this forum, and also learned a lot about crypto from it too. But I think we should all avoid these types of messages. But I thought I should have shared it here for confirmation purposes and to warn others about these types of scams. I hope I am not posting something that is already been discussed. TY

If you haven't reported him already, do it now as sending unsolicited PMs is against forum rules, especially since he included some scammy/phishy website like in your case.

Regarding him using Copper Member, he probably got that so he can lift some newbie restrictions like inability to share images.

100% scam, don't click on the link, or you might lose control of the wallet, which you will attach or link with the link the scammer has sent you. If earning money would be that easy then why would people work hard, why would he be sending you the link, why would he not claim that for himself? Actually, he is trying to lure you into clicking that link so that a second thought of skepticism will not come to your mind and you will abruptly click on the link and attach your wallet and end up losing your wallet access.

You did the right thing in avoiding this link, and I hope after seeing this topic someone will report that person, even you can report him. I doubt if he is banned, because he is not active from long time, but still, it worth to report him.

You gave a good advice to avoid such links, because if someone is telling you that you can make free money by just attaching your wallet with the link then believe me this is nothing but a scam. Recently, when Vitalik's twitter account were hack then, scammers posted a tweet in which they asked the fan following to link their wallets to this link in order to get some NFTs. And at the end, they all lost their access to their funds once they connected their wallets. You can learn more about it here:

You have to spend capital to convince potential victims, buying Copper Member status is one of the strategies used by Scammers to get a larger amount of money than they spent when buying the Copper Member position. Ignore all messages from Newbies for your convenience while active in the forum and is very effective in preventing you from getting caught in the traps set by Scammers. In this message, the scammer asks you to visit the site provided, fortunately you quickly realize that the message is a kind of phishing attack.

Thanks for reporting this, and yes, it's an obvious scam. Nowadays, 0.005 is a significant amount of money already. When converted to USD at the current price, it's $132.9. So, it's too good to be true for a site to be giving away such a large amount just for signing up with them. If there's a link, don't automatically click on it, as sometimes it will redirect to a different URL, probably a phishing site. This is just some basic information to protect our crypto assets, and it's imperative that we all know this.

There's a link sent thru pm so I guess that person have evil plan to you and its good that you ignore him since no people will give you easy money thru pm so think so many times about link sent to you. Much better if you ignore all of it especially those unfamiliar links and entertain only the links where you know you engage with or sent to you by legitimate people. To many scams happened by clicking those dangerous link so don't let yourself included on their victim list.

This is definitely a phishing attempt, you should report this message so that he can't send such messages to other members. The SuperPad user has been offline for a long time, which means that his purpose for coming here may have been fulfilled. Because his actions seem like that. He might come back again with some new phishing idea to try to scam forum users.

It is definitely a phishing attack, you can see that the forum warns against just message. Don’t be carried away with the copper membership account he purchased, scammers can invest a lot to get their target. Also this is a forum account that can easily be hacked and the hacker could attempt a scam with such account so in general if you receive a message from anyone even if it is high ranking member containing a link i would just advice you not to click it. If it is something important I notice that prominent members would rather create a thread about it rather than sending unsolicited messages to anyone

You should not take copper or paid accounts as for granted or to trust someone. If you really wanted to differentiate that either you should trust this dude or not then simple before clicking on any link, use your common sense, like why would he want you to make money. If I can show you, my twitter, and other social media accounts are filled with such phishing message in which they try to give your many offers, like free nudes, free money, free burgers in your area etc. etc. They are just trying and making attempts on newbies, because they know that newbies don't know that much and they might fall for their shit.

I am relieved to know that you did not clicked on any link. And reported the person here. I am sure that many members will have reported the person till now and I am also going to do the same and I might give him red trust or negative feedback using your pic's reference. But I think that's won't be needed if he will get ban.

A quick advice for you OP.

It is not uncommon for scammers to spend their money on anything or anyone to gain your trust, and if you are someone who believes getting things for free is normal then you will end up paying back more than they have given.

Occasionally, I receive messages on this forum from newbies, and there is always a link included in the message. Since I am not new to the internet, I know what scammers do to lure their next victim.

In my opinion, no high rank member on this forum will attempt to scam you because they realize it will put their account at risk, and they realize how hard they worked to get to the high rank. Be more concerned about newbies, stay away from them at all costs, because their accounts are brand new, even if they are copper accounts, they have nothing to lose.

When someone sends you a PM with a link, they're up to no good. Use common sense.

It's unsolicited PM, deserves to be reported and banned.

The information is too generous, with 0.005 BTC to claim for each user. That platform must be very rich to run such give away, first in bitcoin, and second with very good value to claim. Rules to claim, no rule at all, it's easy and very sensitive for cheating.

Many red flags including the warning you see with their website as posted by one member.

Snipped

If a newbie send you a message, it will show a warning in such regards because some of them are not sending PM on important cause, just as we expect a user to have been experienced on the forum before he may have anything to do with sending other people PM, such content newbies send could be physhing, malicious or spam, if you don't know or have an important thing to do with a member, then always disregard their message, if you engage on any deal with any user, you're doing that on your own risk.

@Dictator69, apart from the fact that you can (and should) report such PMs by clicking on the "report to admin" button, you can also protect yourself from receiving such messages from newbies by simply blocking them from sending you messages.

Profile -> Personal Message Options -> Allow newbies to send you PMs. (uncheck)

Of course we know that such links from newbies are automatically removed in public posts, the question is why are they even allowed to send such links through PM?

Hopefully there are no victims of this kind of fraud, the method used by the perpetrator has violated the forum rules because he has included a phishing site that can harm other people.

6. No linking to phishing or malware, without a warning and a valid reason. [e]

Always be careful with PMs like this and don't get caught up in the Copper Member status of the perpetrator, he deliberately bought it to make it easier to post content containing images. If there are any suspicious elements, report the issue to the Scam Accusations board.

TY

Yes bro, He bought copper membership to use it for phishing attack as a newbie cant send the PM's as fa r I know, well i haven't encountered such PM yet but if in future i could than firstly i will report it, as our seniors said you should report it, there is no doubt left now that it was a phishing attack.

I am surprised this guy isn't banned yet, but he will be soon if enough people report his messages to moderators.
My rule is to never click on any links I received inside message, even from so called trusted members, it's easy way to get your account hijacked or get redirected to some phishing website that steals your data.

Thanks to all for responding to this query, I am glad I made the right choice of not clicking the link and I have reported the message to the admins, and let's see if the person gets banned or warned. But I wanted to thank all of you, for your valuable suggestions and guides, I have come to learn some things related to messages and some message settings, like not receiving messages from newbies thanks to Lucius. All of your replies were valuable and thanks again I will keep your suggestions in mind.

Newbies can send PMs but it is restricted to one in an hour and max of two in a day. These numbers can not be used to spread phishing links, so the user had to purchase copper membership to be able to send more PMs to more recipients and hop that at least one of them clicks on it.
