I think this depends on how you view gambling as a whole. Majority of the people who gamble view it as a money-making venture and they end up being disappointed when they see negative results.

If you are someone who wants to profit by gambling, then expect all the negative circumstances as it may end up badly and against you. Sure, you may win/lose but the chances of you losing is higher when you are stuck in the cycle of winning and recovering your losses by gambling.

Everything under moderation seems fair. Whether it is gambling or some other activity. This will keep ourselves remind on to what extent we can gamble and sets the limit. Yes, it really depends on the person playing it. Gambling is actually fun if we use it just for fun, not to make money or double money. Maybe OP's father has a bad habit of using most of his money for unhealthy gambling and cannot limit his spending on gambling so perhaps OP is experiencing economic difficulties caused by his father so he doesn't want other people to have the same fate as him.

Totally agree on this. Personally, I see gambling as a form to escape problems and stress because it brings fun and entertainment on me. And besides, before you enter or engage into something, you should know the risks that comes with it. Like for what was mentioned above, we all know that drinking alcohol is bad for our health but we still enjoy it anyways. So, what we are doing is to drink with moderateness to avoid such health problems and other effects of it like aggression and harm to others if not controlled.
And that can be the same thing in gambling. We just have to know our limits, and that we should know when to stop. We can discuss what the OP said in this thread.
