I live in an underdeveloped country, but I work remotely for a fairly good web development agency. We don't have a lot of financial services/wallets here, so we had to go circumvent a lot of obstacles for me the money to get to my local bank account. This whole process took a hefty fee, and time. And the worst part is the currency is absolutely shit and deteriorating (even compared to other fiat currencies),

Recently, I convinced them to start paying me in BTC. I save what I have to save, and convert the rest to fiat via P2P trading. Its so quicker and I get great deals, no more bullshit. I think this has been a great benefit of crypto for underdeveloped nations.

I have been accumulating bitcoin from a long time from my freelance work, but getting paid in it by my regular work feels awesome!

How will you spend this bitcoin to buy grocery ? You still have to convert to local currency with extra fees. Unless, you are saving all the money , it does not make lot of sense.

This is a small power of Bitcoin which bypasses all the obstacles and give you a straight way. BTC always help its users what if there is no Bitcoin,  you will face all the difficulties that come to you but with the help of BTC you are now getting your payment through a straight and safe route and you will change it through P2P when you need it. In underdeveloped countries I see for the time that a company support Bitcoin transactions and payments to their employees in Bitcoin. They are going against the laws of the state because you are living in an underdevelopment country and I think Bitcoin will be banned there if the company makes payments in btc, the company violates the laws and takes a great risk. But my suggestion to you is to be more serious about it and take care of your security and privacy so that the government will not do anything to you and your company.

Skilled freelancers can earn an average of $1,500 to $10,000 per month. As you are a freelancer your income is expected to be in this range which is a good amount. You are very lucky as you have convinced the company to accept your salary in Bitcoin. However Having clear communication and documentation is of course important when it comes to paying in Bitcoin. Having a system to track exchange rates at the time of payment and having a clear understanding of how any disputes will be handled will be beneficial to both employers and employees.

Payment flexibility in jobs is something that to me is not further taken care of by employers, cause compared to better wages and more serious problems it's something that would get overshadowed most of the time, but goddamn is it so sucky sometimes when you get your payments delayed cause the banks are closed and all that stuff. It seriously fucks with your budget especially if you're someone who's working for a company that pays just enough for you to get by.

Props to you OP for actually standing up and asking for more from your employer, I'm guessing this is because you've been with them for a while now cause I doubt that they'd do this if you're just a newbie or someone on probation. But whatevs, hope this awesome streak keeps up.

So how's your journey now OP, are you doing good while getting paid by your employer with Bitcoin? It's been a month since you've posted this thread and you've been logged in a few days ago.

I guess that you're enjoying it since you don't have to spend a lot of transfers when you want to buy Bitcoin because your employer is doing it all for you.

With fees now, is your employer complaining about it or it's deducted on you?

Good that you were able to convince your employer to pay you via BTC but it won't be easy for most of us and almost impossible if one is employed at a large corporate or organisation as they have their own financial system and everything is automated as they cannot pay you in any other mode except the fiat as it looks impossible to me that an organisation needs to first buy BTC or pay to the seller by sharing your BTC address and there are countries where dealing in crypto is still taboo.

But for freelancing, projects and services you can always request payment via crypto of the payer is familiar with crypto else getting payment through crypto is not feasible.

In situation like the current one who bears the transaction fee where it's way too high?

That's the "multi-million dollar question". Unless the OP lives in a country that uses USD as its national currency, he would be out of luck. The only way would be to sell BTC for Fiat through a P2P exchange, hoping someone makes the transaction. It's easy enough to pay for everything using BTC if the country you're living into has adopted it as legal tender. People in El Salvador and Central African Republic won't have any problems with this.

At least, the OP is off to a good start. Accumulating BTC is way better than accumulating Fiat. Who knows if someday BTC becomes the dominant force of the world economy? Cheesy
