Smerit is different from ur main merit in your merit count

For each 2 merits you earn, you have 1 sendable merit, and when you send out that one, it won't affect the 2 you have earned, but the sendable one will reduce that if you have more of it. Only your S merit can be reduced, not your earned merit.

As you have 2 merits, you have 1 smerits. If you have 4 merits, you will have 2 smerits. Your smerits is the halve of the merit that your have been sent. You can send the smerit to anybody's post that is helpful for you.

Click on the merit on the post that you want to merit, it is beside quote. Read what is there before sending the merit and all your questions are answered there.

Please take the time to look around the forum for answers before making a thread for each question you might have or at least put all your questions in 1 thread.

Use the search feature as well, that may help you locate answers faster.

If you cannot locate an answer to your questions, feel free to make a thread

Your merit question has been answered.

As you have 2 merits, you have 1 smerits.

He might not have 1 sMerits, as out of those 2 Merits he got 1 today and the other 1 might have been airdropped. What _act_said is correct for every 2 merits you reciiyou would have 1 sendable merit. @coinfunda, to check how much sMerits(sendable merits) you have follow these links.

*Go to your profile > Click Merit
You will see your merit Summary and look above Merit Summary for [YOURNAME] you can see...

*Bitcoin Forum > Merit > Merit summary for 1993jochico

In there you can already see your sMerit and your merit summary.

Dear members,

If I send sMerit to someone if I noticed some deserving post, then it will be deducted from my merit balance?

There’s a separate balance for available sMerit which is separate to your total merit. Your sent merit will be deducted to your sMerit balance while your total merit will still remain.

You can get 0.5sMerit per 1 merit received and sMerit decay on certain amount of time so make sure to share it to deserving post and never hoard any of them. Don’t be afraid that you will lose merit when you send merit to someone.

What you send is sMerit, sendable merit, not merit so logically you won't lose your merit, what you lose is sendable (sMerit) but you don't get any benefit by holding your sMerit.

Read more to understand more about merit system.

You can always try to click on Merit to see the message
Quote
You have received a total of X merit. This is what determines your forum rank. You typically cannot lose this merit. You have Y sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people. There is no point in hoarding sMerit; keeping it yourself does not benefit you, and we reserve the right to decay unused sMerit in the future.

Use the search feature as well, that may help you locate answers faster.

OP created his/her account in July, 2018 which is after introduction of merit system and it's not possible that he/she has received airdropped merit.
The forum displays the merit received in the last 120 days and if you want to see the full list of received merit, you can use loyce.club* or BPIP.

*The merit history on loyce.club is updated weekly and that's why you don't see the merit coinfunda received today there.

Why not try, and yes it will be deducted from your balance.

Just to be clear: it will be deducted from your sMerit balance, not your received merits counter. The "Merit" counter below your profile won't be changed.

I assume OP asked this because he doesn't want to decrease his 2 merits lol.

It’s likely something many people wonder at some point, until they find out how the difference between the Merit counter (clearly visible) and the sMerit counter (somewhat subtly visible when you proceed to Merit an account, or go to Profile-> Merit -> Merit from the path structure, leading you here).

Back in the day, I created a small poll on Beginners & Help to precisely see how readers there saw the matter. The poll didn’t really get that many answers, but it did exemplify that some people were unaware at the time. I count myself amongst those in the early days of the Merit System. What can I say …

You should not be upset that such is happening. Mind you, even the Op realized it's a silly question that he/she asked but they did anyway. Some of these users don't know how to navigate their way round the forum and feel the best way to blend is to create threads, no matter how irrelevant or pointless it might be.
Well, to the Op I believe your question has been answered? Please kindly lock this thread if you may.

Your earned merit won't be deducted when you send a merit to someone else. The only thing that will be deducted is your smerit. For every merit you received you also receive 0.5 smerit therefore when you receive 2 merits then you will also have 1 smerit. It's better to send your smerit than to hoard it as it is useless if you only keep it and never sent to other forum members who deserves it.

Merit and sMerit are different things. Merit is something you get from other forum users for your quality posts or contributions. sMerit is something you can give others if you think their posts are worthy. Once you earn a merit, it's not going to vanish. It will always be there, no matter what. You will not lose any merit. For every merit you earn, you get half of the sMerit.

(OP, you should now lock this topic as you got enough answers.)

Dear members,

If I send sMerit to someone if I noticed some deserving post, then it will be deducted from my merit balance?
If you will get 2 merits then you will have only one smerit  (sending merit). This means if you will get 10 merits then those merits will make 5 smerits  that you can send to others. But you are asking if your merits will be reduced if you will send merits to others. The short answer is no.

Because as I said before, you get 2 merits that make 1smerit. And the 2 merits that you have received will not go anywhere. They are registered in your profile and the merits that you will send, not be deducted by the merits that have been tagged in your profile.

But yeah, you can not send someone endless merits because if you wanted to send smerits then you must have earned some merits too then you will be able to send merits. The best practice that you should perform in this case is, do not start to do merit farming in thinking that you can now send merits to your other account. Because that will not be tolerated.

Please take the time to look around the forum for answers before making a thread for each question you might have or at least put all your questions in 1 thread.

Your merit question has been answered.
I didn’t want to respond to this thread as I feel no further value could be added to what is already said but,

Your sense of politeness or approach to the behavior and thread is something worth noting or commending.
As a legendary, while most would just be direct in response to the matter, you took a rather gentle approach and seal the deal.

I hope the deal is sealed though and OP understands what needs to be done in other situations rather than creating threads for just a single line question.

Be curious and sort means to satisfy your curiosity but, don’t abuse privileges. In essence, be creative with your approach @OP.

Dear members,

If I send sMerit to someone if I noticed some deserving post, then it will be deducted from my merit balance?

When you send one smerit to someone then you won't have it anymore, but that won't impact your merit balance. Your merits are yours and no-one can reduce those from your profile. When someone sends you 2 merits you'll gain those merits on your profile and you'll gain 1 smerit that you can send to someone else, and sending of that 1 smerit won't affect your profile merits at all.

that won't happen, in fact, if you look and read the message that appears when you want to send sMerit to a post, you will find the answer. that you get total Merit in your account. and you have different sMerits that you can send to other users. this is something different. you will only lose your sMerit when you share it on other people's posts. it will not reduce the Merit in your account. and when you get Merit, it will also add sMerit to your account.

I don't think there will be any development of other answers that will satisfy you. I hope you can lock your thread

In addition to what everybody have said, I will like to throw a little light on this topic of discussion that "smerit" is a product of merit, and as such it increases directly proportional with an increase in the original "merit" which can only be given from a different forum member, that can never decrease no matter the circumstances unlike the forum rank feature which is object to both "Activity" and "merit". And as such there are certain merits a user need to attain to arrive at certain rank, that is;
1 merit = Jr. member
10 merits = Member
100 merits = Full Member
500 merits = Hero Member
1000 Legendary Member (i.e that last rank)

I hope the deal is sealed though and OP understands what needs to be done in other situations rather than creating threads for just a single line question.
Often, the problem with this type of thread is that OPs ask these obviously needless questions but immediately disappear from the scene, making one think that they're not after answers to the questions they ask. I said OP's question was "obviously needless" because OP shouldn't be asking a question like that, having been registered on this forum in 2018. I bet not many who responded here knew OP isn't a noob account. This account was here the same year the merit thing was introduced in this forum.

Dear members,

If I send sMerit to someone if I noticed some deserving post, then it will be deducted from my merit balance?
Merit once added to your account will never be removed from your account. sMerit can only be given to other users if you like other users' posts. sMerit disbursement will not deduct any merit from your account.
Earn 2 merit=1sMerit
That is, if you earn two merits, then 1 sMerit will be added to your account.

OP this your question is not straight to me, but from what have read about merit, if you send any amount of merit to any member with a deserving post, the merit you send won't be deducted from your main merit but it will be deducted from your Smerits. Smerit which simply means sendible merit. Like you know, you have the right to use your Smerit the way you feel like.

Perhaps the OP thinks that asking this type of question will show his interest in the forum, and some generous members will pour some merit into it. I saw recently that Meta has been flooded with new topics asked by newbies or accounts below member rank. Why suddenly do the demands for merit spike up with lots of newbie accounts creating silly topics in meta and bitcoin boards?

If you really think this is an error or perhaps of zero value - then report it to the moderators instead of replying. I'm not sure the OP doesn't know exactly how the merit system works when referring to his signup date - but something could still be considered true especially if the account has changed hands to another newbie.

It is very possible for a beginner who is still learning not to know how the merit system works - but conversely, some users may feign ignorance just to attract attention. It's all about possibility - not an accusation, but honestly this isn't a really necessary thread.
