Altcoins for trading are much riskier than Bitcoin but also more profitable, so other potential altcoins can be used instead of choosing only Bitcoin for trading.  Trading risk is something everyone has to accept if one wants to trade be it altcoins or bitcoins so I don't think trading should be limited to only bitcoins.  But if one wants to make a long term investment then Bitcoin should be the first priority. However, trading is entirely a personal matter, so it should be up to the individual to decide which crypto to trade.

I believe that for trading you can use any asset in which you are well versed. If it's a highly volatile altcoin, then there's nothing wrong with that, but I don't like altcoins for long-term trades, for that you should only use Bitcoin. It makes sense to monitor several assets because they can pump at different times. But I also like trading Bitcoin.

Trading is usually done by people in different coins but if one wants to invest in long term plan then he must choose Bitcoin. In terms of trading, other coins in the market always increase quickly due to excess volatility and decrease quickly, so some traders prefer other coins for short-term trading. People often buy bitcoin and keep it for longer time and at the same time they continue to trade other coins as bitcoin will give them profit after years but altcoins can give you quick earning in little time but the risk is also very high.

If we talk about the best investment in crypto then the answer would already be Bitcoin. Especially if we talk about long-term investments. But what the Op is talking about is about trading in bitcoin. According to him, trading in Bitcoin is much safer and perhaps this is because the risks are not as high as the risks of trading in Altcoins. Bitcoin is a strong project and we can make profits if we know how to analyse and enter the market, we can always make profits that would earn us a good living. You need understanding of the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem because if you don't have the understanding then their is going to be a problem. And it is as if we are learning every day their benefits you get from bitcoin that others don't give even with the nature of instability. To my knowledge till date no trader has lost his money by trading in bitcoins rather he has successfully made good profits. It's a matter of risk and profit. If you're concern with the risk, let us say you are afraid of losing your money, also you're not emotionally stable and prone to stress then it's prefer to choose Bitcoin over alts because Bitcoin is the most promising cryptocurrency even though the profit potential is not so high. But if you're not concern of losing, like the money you trade is just your extra money or doesn't matter so much to you then it's ideal to invest with Alts because there are people who invest with alts became a millionaire. You just have to choose very well which alts is good to invest by doing research for that coin.
