Preev.com is Down ?

I tried to open Preev.com to check the btc rates but i get the error. If i remember correctly, it was working fine a few days back when i last checked but now the site shows DNS error.

Does this mean that the site domain is expired and the owners did not renew it ?

Not sure what the issue might be, but here are a couple of alternatives:

I also face same issue, preev.com had suffered this problem many times, so I think the best is to migrate to other alternative.

No, the domain will expire in 2025 it still has over a year the one that expires is the host, the admin of Preev.com should renew the host for the site to be up again

This is the third time that the site has been down the last time the issue was the domain the admin renewed before the grace period expired and before that, the web host expired just like what's happening here Preev.com - DNS hosting service has expired. and this is just July of last year, it looks like the admin is not receiving a notification if the host is expiring even if the domain or he is aware but do not have funds to renew it.
But we have a lot of alternatives that people can use and they are as dependable like Preev.com.

All I remember was seeing a post about it in r/Bitcoin 10 years ago, and it was an instant success. Still to this day all I know for it's creator is that his username is "turtoise" on Reddit. Most probably it's still owned by the same person. Perhaps he's too busy enjoying his early bitcoiner life to fix it instantly, but it always comes around usually.

The error is at the end of their hosting server. As said above, this is not the first time this has happened. And the last one (before this one) was the longest down so several alternatives emerged to "seize" the position

I cannot understand if he's too busy or simply doesn't care at this point. Approximately a little over a year ago the website was down again and remained non functioning long enough for alternatives to start popping up. No explanation was ever made, not that he owed us one, but there was never any communication from his behalf, which was quite odd if you ask me. I don't think he has logged in the forum for the past few years either. It's no surprise that it's down again, even though this is likely to be some error from the hosting's end, the domain isn't expiring soon either.

They are having the same issue regularly. Few months ago the site was down for weeks I think. The site created a good brand and receives a lot of traffic. It seems the owner have investment issue which he could resolve easily if he was running a simple ad. Not sure why don't he run any ad or look for investments. A project like this really is a great help to the bitcoin community.

Honestly, I don't have much time to devote to improving the price calculator on preev.net
I had a desire, but in addition to time, I still lacked specific programming knowledge to implement everything I planned here. Nothing spectacular, just a couple of additions that would bring more usefulness than the usual "BTC-live price calc".

If here a developer is willing to help to make a valuable service, I am open to suggestions. My budget is limited for this, and I certainly would not go into domain monetization by adding other services or advertisements.

Yeah, I guess majority here are used to seeing preev.com as our preferred site to check for the latest price. It's a habit that it's hard to break  . But yeah there are a lot of alternatives now.

Why the owner of preev.com didn't switch to free Cloudflare isn't that enough? Switching to free Cloudflare could save costs while providing SSL, CDN, and DDoS protection for free and also eliminate DNS expiration.

Yes, it can still be used for that, but it is nowhere as nice as, for example, preev.net.

EDIT: Nevermind, you can't even use pnnv.com to get the Bitcoin price anymore. Yes, I can enter 0.1BTC and then look at it's rate, but at that point, just use something else.

There are a lot of questions, and I remember that the last time when the site stopped, one of the people contacted the owner and access to the site was restored after several days, so this may happen again. The problem is that this down time has become many and numerous, so it is not a reliable site to rely on.

1) bitmover developed a good website with multiple options, but it is not a simple price tracking tool with a short URL and a simple interface just like it was in Preev.com.
2) The site owner talked about updates to the UI, so the site is not currently working as a simple tool for displaying the price of Bitcoin.

No, just the OG members, i don't think the new ones heard about preev other than here. I'm one of those who have been curious why preev is very famous here when cmc, coingecko, coindesk and other cmc-like site is much more better, more accurate for average price, many option to convert, etc.

The reason why we liked Preev is simple, it showed us a price, right away, with no distractions.

I've used BitcoinAverage a lot before as well, but now they don't even have a calculator anymore, so it has also become outdated. CoinGecko is very nice, but can't beat the simplicity. 🤷‍♂️

EDIT: Just noticed that Preev.net uses the CoinGecko API, so it does actually show an average price. Very nice.

The idea was to have multiple fiat currencies and all bitcoin units, not as simple as preev

I don't get how preev got  só many access. Usually when I need to know btc price I just write BTC USD in Google or any other Google search.

That site has been my go-to for a quick check on Bitcoin prices and conversions. It's been down for a while now, and honestly, I've lost hope that they'll ever come back. But I'm glad to see that there are some alternatives floating around, so I'm grateful to those who've shared them.

However, if they do happen to make a comeback, I'll probably go right back to using them. You know how it is – you get so used to something after it's been a part of your daily routine for years. Checking prices there has become a daily habit for me.
