You are off to a good start and there is a basic basis for deciding to invest. but try to have a plan after purchasing on a centralized exchange make a withdrawal to a really safe cold wallet. Don't keep it too long on a centralized exchange. Maybe you can do it once a month. This means that if you buy 10K Naira every week then in a month you will withdraw 4x purchases at the end of the month to your wallet. So by having a structured plan like that you can enjoy the investment process much more. Of course, this must be supported by stable finances, so you just need to adapt your own version of investment according to your abilities.

Yea, the amount is relatively small, but it's someone's salary here in my country, and most people wait for 28 days in order to get paid that amount. It sounds funny or sad, but it's the truth.

I think that btc is most suitable for long-term hodling, it requires patience, but I'm pretty sure that it can bring some profit in a couple of years. I can see you bought those coins on a exchange, i hope it isn't still in that exchange. The amount you bought may not be big, but don't store your coins in an exchange, especially as you are planning on buying more coins and holding it for a long time. Move your coins into your Electrum wallet, and run Electrum on an airgapped device when you have more coins, or you just buy a hardware wallet.

If op continue like this and keep accumulating Bitcoin, it would be very surprising for many to see that he might accumulate more money than expected. If we can't do something once, we can decide to do it gradually and make sure we reach the level we intend to be. Looking at the amount of bitcoin he bought from Binance, do you think that would be enough for him as a transaction fee if he withdrew it to his non-custodial wallet? If he invests regularly then his investment rate will increase and at the end of the day he will earn good money. I must also ask: have you thought about allocating some for diversification into other assets or cryptocurrency coins? Sometimes diversification saves your life.     It is funny (or should I say strange?) how so many folks, including you Blitzboy, get so excited about dumbass ideas of diversification... as if those kinds of ideas would be helpful for relatively smaller level/sized investors.

The fact of the matter is that diversification is likely neither needed nor justifiable until maybe a person gets to a point in which s/he might have invested 25% or so of his annual salary/expenses (that would be around 3 months or more) into any one asset, and even then, there may not be any need to diversify before having 1 or 2 years of annual/salary expenses into any one asset, and if OP is investing around $10 per week or some other period of time, it could take him a fucking long time to get to more than 25% of his annual salary/expenses in BTC.. and it still may well not be justified to diversify.. why dilute something that is already small.

A more important concept would be to make sure that he has 3-6 months salary/expenses in some kind of an emergency fund. .which would serve as a kind of diversification that would serve to protect him from getting pushed out of his BTC investment based on fluctuations in cashflow, and so many folks have trouble putting together their emergency fund.. and even worry that their emergency fund is not sufficiently working since it may well be losing value due to debasement of the currency.. so yeah their are challenges with emergency funds being able to keep up with inflation.. so each person should be striving to figure out how to deal with the kinds of matters to not be forced out of their investment due to fluctuation in cashflow issues or other things that could come about.. and maybe when they get towards 2-3 years down the road in which they have been building their BTC investment and their emergency fund (perhaps simultaneously) then reassess at that point if the investment into BTC might be starting to get to such a level of BIGness that diversification would be justified.. rather than dumbass ideas of diversification for the mere sake of diversification. .which is just a distraction and likely not even productive, especially for smaller level of investors that seems to be where OP's circumstances fit.

I cannot really blame members for making these kinds of posts, but many of us likely realize that so much of 2023 has been filled with a lot of high fees, and becoming more of an issue after the date of the above post (especially since November), and likely we realized that there are several issues with having a bunch of small UTXOs, and personally, I do agree with the idea of private wallets and minimizing the holding of coins with third parties, such as exchanges, but also the fact of the matter is that there maybe be some needs to protect yourself in terms of the size of your UTXOs, and I personally do not have any problem of the idea to hold funds on exchanges until they reach $500 to $1k in value, but surely there also might be some needs to get some of those coins into personal custody, especially for someone who does not have a lot of wealth.. so there could be some thoughts of also sometimes moving the amounts to private wallets when they are smaller amounts of $200 to $500.. but I cannot really recommend purposefully creating UTXOs that are smaller than $200 when they are created.. even though others might be willing to accept even smaller amounts. 

Lightning network and lightning network channels is another story.. and risky to hold very much funds on their, and it could be costly to first start out channels.. otherwise getting into custody type concerns with some of the wallet types.

This might just be a case of a seemingly bad situation turning out to be a blessing. Without the high fees, maybe you would have spend your earned Bitcoin on other things. The situation you are in has turned to weekly DCA and the only challenge you will have is if there are other areas through which you generate income to meet your basic needs as well as set aside some funds in case of any emergency that will require money. With that in place you can comfortably hold your Bitcoin for long and hopefully the transaction fees will become better before you know it.

I think that is a better idea to wait for your balance to reach a certain size, such as somewhere between $500 to $1k prior to voluntarily moving it to a private wallet, and sure there might be times in which you have lower level transactions, but with fees so high and potential to go higher in the future, it would seem better to have UTXOs that are not overly small, such as less than $100 or $200. 

Now, if you already have a lightning channel open, you might be o.k. to transact for low fees, as long as you do not have to recharge it from onchain versus from maybe another lightning channel, but if you have to set up a lightning channel that can sometimes take a bit of fees to set up.  Even my use of Phoenix wallet in recent times, the fees had been bouncing between 15,000sats to 70,000 sats ($7 to $35), and that can be cost prohibitive for some folks.

Hopefully, the high fees (which seems like an attack against poor people) will help to inspire some developments that helpful in the right direction, but of course, some poor people are going to feel locked out and without very many options, especially if they don't have enough value both buy bitcoin and to justify paying the fees.. absent doing something that might allow them to buy small amounts and then build up to a certain value (which I am suggesting $500 to $1k to be reasonable) prior to transferring to a private wallet... and of course, I personally believe it is better to have BTC on private wallets, and that is likely part of the reason that this current high fee environment seems to be a bit of an attack on less well to do folks.

Surely the situations of people change in ways in which maybe they either come across some difficulties to invest or maybe they have extra money that they can put in, and so long as they do not sell everything, then maybe the story remains interesting (at least for me), and personally I am not as sympathetic to the ones who buy and sell (trade) as opposed to engaging in longer term BTC accumulation strategies, even if some weeks (or months) might result in smaller or larger amounts of BTC bought.. and also I could give less than two shits if their BTC portfolio is in profits or in the negative in the short term as long as they continue to accumulate BTC with the passage of time, and then let's see where that kind of persistence takes them (of course variation in the circumstances of people) 4-10 years or more down the road.

Part of the earlier days in the bitcoin journey is likely filled with struggles to accumulate and even tough decisions about when to accumulate and how much, and those kinds of decisions with subsequent actions have consequences and repercussions down the road.  So even if we might not be trying to judge the mistakes of anyone, it is quite likely that many of us make mistakes along the way, so then anyone who had been consistently accumulating BTC for 4-10 years or longer, might go back and look at his own performance in terms of whether his results came close to a DCA kind of approach or was his approach weaker or stronger than a somewhat systematized DCA approach.

Surely any of the DCA websites show us that the longer that we have been DCAing into BTC, then the more likely that our BTC levels and our profits are going to start to become meaningful, and we can see that from the date that Op started this thread until today, if OP had been investing $10 per week, he would have had invested $130 and accumulated 0.00364 BTC (worth about $155) (364k satoshis), so an average cost of $35,714 per BTC, so surely he is currently in profits with that system, but he still would not have had accumulated very many BTC with such a short period of time and such a small DCA amount.

Another thing is that past performance does not guarantee future results, but if we might say that our goal is 4-10 years or longer to be investing into BTC, which surely would not even mean that we would necessarily stop investing into BTC until we were able to get to a meaningful level in which it makes sense to stop investing and maybe even to go into a kind of maintenance stage and then maybe later to enter into a kind of liquidation stage.

So if we choose a longer time period and if Op (or anyone else) had started DCA investing into BTC 6 years earlier than his first BTC purchase, then he would have had invested right around $3,260 into BTC with a total accumulation of 0.27925 BTC (worth about $11,868) with an average cost per BTC of right around $11,675 - and so nearly 4x in profits.. but still without a considerably large amount of money, but could be very helpful for improving standard of living and having some investment cushion.. but still may well not be to retirement levels, but if a person is already in his 60s, he might not be ready, willing and able to work or earn income like he was able to do in his youth... so he has some potential supplemental income.. and it will depend upon where he is at in life in regards to if he continues to buy BTC or to take some other strategy in regards to his BTC stash - so it seems better to have options rather than not.

Tis the tough road of Bitcoin HODL unless you have the discipline of a country like El Salvador with the Bukele tracker where you track the price of Bitcoin over time and the discipline to rebuy you can take quite the loss.

That position was pretty bad as they bought during the 70,000 peak and average bought down to the current market price if they sold like they were told too they would have taken quite the hit. But they didn't are still holding and while its only up a million dollars now on the position hey at least its positive again, and they have no plans to sell.

So don't let the short money get in the way of making good money in the long run.
I guess the lesson from El Salvador is to not DCA only for 1 to 2 years but keep the DCA going for multiple years and with split amounts eventually you will get back to green over time.

When it comes to investment then this is really something that would really be that in private or personal things on which we dont know if a certain individual did really make out some decisions on continuing his Bitcoin investment or did really just simply stop. This would really be situational kind of condition on which you would neither be that making investment or would really be just completely stop due  to some various

This is why it would really be that always that depending whether someone is really that taking up some crypto investment or not but we do know on what are the chances and potential that it could possibly give when we do speak about the future. Sure there are a few things that you likely need to do to make sure that you are not overinvesting, which is to invest within your discretionary income and have an emergency fund, and then just continue to be persistent.  I doubt that countries are better off merely because they have a larger budget.

In other words, you likely have a smaller budget, but you are way more flexible and able to plan your own things, rather than being a company or a country that has to account for various interests, such as shareholders and/or citizens.

Does not seem that unusual to me.  Anyone who bought during 2020 and 2021 could have gotten caught in a similar kind of situation in which you go through down before going through up., and if you have conviction, your BTC portfolio size keeps growing during that time, even if your holdings might be in the negative for a considerable period of time... such as 2-3 years... so yeah, El salvador seems to be only right around 2.5 years..  for its BTC accumulation period..

I am pretty sure that they are a little less than 2.5 years..  Of course, they announced that they were going to legalize bitcoin in June 2021 (meaning making bitcoin legal tender in El Salvador), but that was three months before the legal tender law went into place, so when I google the question, it appears that El Salvador made its first BTC purchases in September 2021.. yet there is probably more accurate information out there, even though El Salvador has been accused of being a bit too obscure in regards to the quantity of their BTC and their custodial arrangements.. which may have a bit of validity, but the secrecy is a bit justified too.. but since they are a government, they probably should be a bit more detailed and specific in regards to their BTC holdings.. ..

But individuals do not have to disclose these kinds of matters, so in that sense public entities are different from individuals  and/or institutions who might follow similar kinds of practices to accumulate BTC and having to go through some tougher periods in the earlier years of their BTC accumulation journey, and I am not even sure if it is better to start in a down period or to start in an up period since there surely are advantages to accumulating during down periods.

It's a tremendous move that he even tried, considering that there are people who know about investing but are still hesitant to do so not because they lack the funds, but rather because they would feel safer keeping their money segregated. Thats a great move. Don't dispise the days of your little beginning jus as the saying goes. My friend, it is easy, it all depends on the plan and the availability of enough money. To some, their issue is procrastination and the need to have that huge money before they start, but that mentality is very wrong. One can start investment at any time and continue to save money there if allowed. Thankfully, the Bitcoin investment allows all that and if you are investing this time, I believe you are still lucky as the bull run is coming powerfully and could still give about x2 of the current size, if not x3. But I will not support any multiple returns above that because what is happening now in the crypto space about the ETF and other advancements is so encouraging to the financial market. If Bitcoin behaves like other assets in the financial market, there might not be as much volatility in it as before. This is especially true as it has reached a huge size already. In other words, it is a much more advanced and difficult technique to buy into various shitcoins and try to figure out which of them might have various pumps and when to get out, and no shitcoins are long term investments, like bitcoin. With bitcoin you can ongoingly buy without having to get preoccupied about pump and dumps and you can invest for a 4-10 year timeline or even longer, which you cannot do with any shitcoins - which again is off-topic to be discussing potential trading or gambling techniques in this thread.. and as soon as you get involved in shitcoins you are trading or gambling rather than investing.

I don't totally disagree with your points about bitcoin losing some of its volatility due to its already increase in market size, but you still seem to be both presuming more limited upside with bitcoin than would reasonably be warranted, and you also seem to be framing bitcoin as if it were a mature market, which is far from the case, unless you are trying to imply (or compare it to shitcoins).  If you consider bitcoin in a way that is less distracted by your perceptions of possible "opportunities" in shitcoins, but instead consider bitcoin in terms of other assets such as equities, properties, bonds, commodities and cash/cash equivalents (not necessarily shitcoins), then you should be able to appreciate that bitcoin is far from a mature asset class, and even if some volatility might reduce in the coming years, I have my doubts in regards to really being able to write off bitcoin's volatility in the next 4-10 years or even longer than that.  Of course, we will have to see how these next few cycles play out, but I would suspect that bitcoin is still going to continue to be pretty damned volatile as adoption increases in the coming 4-10 years or longer.. and we can probably assess it at various points along the way, and also in 4-10 years or more, it well could be the case that bitcoin's spot price may reach $1 million to $10 million or even greater areas, even though it's bottom price will likely continue to move up too.. which in my entry level fuck you status chart, I show my own projection of BTC bottom prices in pretty conservative ways, so I tend to take volatility as a given, even though bottom prices are less volatile, they still do not presume volatility and ongoing battles or even wars related to BTC spot price to not exist.

To some, their issue is procrastination and the need to have that huge money before they start, but that mentality is very wrong. One can start investment at any time and continue to save money there if allowed. Thankfully, the Bitcoin investment allows all that and if you are investing this time, I believe you are still lucky as the bull run is coming powerfully and could still give about x2 of the current size, if not x3. But I will not support any multiple returns above that because what is happening now in the crypto space about the ETF and other advancements is so encouraging to the financial market. When it come to investment, Bitcoin is one of the things we not need to miss out on even though we have other altcoins we are holding. Bitcoin had changed many of us mindset to believe in what the future has for us. Those that invest in the future are the ones that are benefiting at large because they were able to think and look for a way to prepare for what the future has to offer.

Well, it's not advisable to use a borrowed money to be able to invest in Bitcoin. But I don't think it's a bad thing because as long as the investor is capable of paying off his loan regardless of the result of the investment then I don't see it as a problem. I don't encourage people to join contributions because me I've been a victim of when it gets to my turn in the contribution, lots of stories from members of the contribution emanates and again it's just almost same as entrusting your funds in other people's hand which is very risky.

We talking or we starting. Bitcoin is that train which will keep moving irrespective of whose on or off. The Bitcoin journey is full of surprises and it can bring up whole new opportunities for us. Its like you dont what would happen to Bitcoin in terms of its prices, volume. Any small or major event out in the market can onset these events. Whether its negative news like an exchanger getting hacked or positive news like ETF approval or Grays buying millions of dollar worth; they all come by surprise and move this market. Investors like you and me can scoop good profits from Bitcoin holding during such period. Thats why there is no wait, if you are in then you should be in right away even with smaller amounts.

We are talking here but it's not enough if we won't make an action. The surprise in Bitcoin's journey is not only the opportunity to earn but also to lose if we don't take it seriously. Some news can indeed come unexpectedly but we can refer to them to make a decision. Like for example there is a date if when will ETF be approved.

Some people will enter and buy because think the price will rise during those periods. You will achieve but a little if you have non or lack the most of consistency. A whole lot of people have started out loads of projects and have backed out of it mid way because they faced certain challenges, maybe they were not prepared for it but that is how everything works out. If you have actually pursued anything, you will notice that your commitment to that thing must be tested, so giving up is not an option for a consistent man.

Dear, Everybody has his own plans or mentality in my case I would recommend not borrowing any money to invest because if we are already in the minus and in case of we lose the borrowed one also it will be a double minus and headache separately. well, I know investing in Bitcoin is the best option so we can invest in it being fully relaxed but if the person from which you borrow money also needs some emergency funds then you have to return on time but the market is not allowing you to fetch your amount on that time so that's why borrowing money and investing can be proven risky. It is just a point of view. So, always invest your own money which is more recommended than investing by borrowing amount.

It would be nice to get updates when members start these kinds of threads, and it might not even matter so much if they make some mistakes along the way, yet it seems that part of the problem is that members who make these kinds of threads have hardly any staying power and probably they end up selling or discontinuing their buying.  I know people like this in real life too.. they have no ability to stick with something, even something as powerful as bitcoin.

I recall a thread in which one of the members had stopped some of his snaking, and he even had several follow ups and would have had been getting close to $100 per week invested into bitcoin, but he was doing that in 2021 when the BTC price went up and then down and then up and then back down as we know, and if guys were heavily enthusiastic in 2021, their holdings would have been in the negative for a large portion of 2022, and maybe even through most of 2023; however, at the same time, there would have had been a lot of fortune to continue to accumulate during those DOWNity periods, and perhaps even ended up bringing down their average cost per BTC.. and sure maybe even some mistakes would have happened along the way and maybe even ending up with relatively higher costs per BTC because of mistakes and maybe not buying during certain weeks that the BTC price was low (and depressing), but at the same time, a guy who started investing $100 per week in to bitcoin in the beginning of 2021 would have invested $15,700 and would have had accumulated 0.5524 BTC (current value of $23.3k-ish)... so that person would surely be in a good position right now in terms of both profits and also in terms of having a decent quantity of BTC accumulated, even though there would have been decently extensive periods of time in which such same person would have had his BTC portfolio in the negative.
