An alt-coin is any other alternative to bitcoin.

According to https://www.ledger.com/academy/crypto/what-is-the-difference-between-coins-and-tokens#:~:text=%E2%80%94%20Coins%20are%20any%20cryptocurrency%20that,interesting%20properties%20relating%20to%20interoperability.

— Coins are any cryptocurrency that has a standalone independent blockchain (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple…)

— Tokens are digital assets that operate on an existing blockchain network instead of on their own. This gives them some interesting properties relating to interoperability.

You should know the difference between them, also i don't recomento to invest in alt-coins or tokens.

OP, you should move this topic to altcoins board.
Altcoins are known to be an alternative cryptocurrency to bitcoin, altcoins are duplicate of bitcoin and they all depend on bitcoin price movement in their pump and dump. We have numerous altcoins out there in the market and it is not advisable to invest in them, because their devs use them to extort money from the people after a hype. Here are some altcoins Etherum, Litecoin, Dodgecoin and many more. There is no special way of knowing altcoins, as long as it is not bitcoin, then you should know that it is altcoin.

Altcoins are a different types of cryptocurrency which is created as an alternative to an already existing coin which is Bitcoin. There are different reasons why it is created like faster transaction confirmation compared to Bitcoin and many more. To this day, each of us have different altcoins that we prefer to use like I want to use xrp because it has low transaction fee and the transaction getting confirmed is also fast.

Op you made a mistake on the subject of your post  Alt-. The simple answer to your question is Any alternate coin to BTC from  the word Alt-. But left to me, I won't say they are alternate I will call the subordinates

Any crypto currency apart from Bitcoin is considered Altcoins. Literally anything you see these days. Bitcoin is the one & only true coin. On the other hand Altcoins is also called as shitcoins. Not all of them but most of them, as far as I know. Because altcoins aren't as good as bitcoin. They may have a huge potential large liquidity. But if you look at the past, you'll see most of them became trash or lost to the ground. That is the reason behind called shitcoins. They can only give you temporary profits. Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that has survived this far from the very beginning.

Really funny though, that's was my first taught at seeing this post and the random merit given to it. It's really funny how OP would be posting over the same old board and still doesn't know what altcoin is?
