I know that if our posts get deleted by the mods and there are many of them, it means that we are making low value posts, they are being reported and eventually getting deleted. In some cases, we may get tagged by the DT members for being a shit poster.

Anyhow I want to know that if we delete our posts ourselves, does it have a bad effect on our account and can we still get tagged or something or it is completely normal ?

No, it doesn't. In rare case, you may lose few of your activities. Otherwise, there's nothing wrong deleting your own post. Why though? I don't think there are a lot of reasons for deleting your own post.

It shouldn't have any bad effect on your account but deleting your old posts might affect your forum ranks. I heard someone with full member rank deleted his few old posts and it ranked down.

Do you have any reason why do you want to delete your posts?

Since your current rank is member it might rank down to newbie if you deleted old posts.

I think for safety if you want to delete your old post to avoid ranking down you can report/request to mods to delete it for you.

If your posts are deleted because you comment on a thread that appears to be spam, and when they delete the mother thread, your own post is also going down with it, but it was as a result of continuously posting something that's below forum standard, and it happens that people who observe it reported it to the moderators and it got deleted. If such actions continue, I think there will be a higher chance of your account getting a Temban just to warn you of your activities.

What's the point of making low-quality posts and later coming back to delete them? Well, if you realise that you have done some post that is not worth posting and you decided to delete it yourself, I don't think any DT will want to punish you by tagging you for that. Unless you have continuously been doing it over and over again where the action turns out offensive in the eyes of anyone who ever notices it, then I believe you might get a neutral to warn you and anyone who wants to deal with you of what your activities have been off.

There are instances that can make people delete their own posts. There was a time I had network issues and that made me post the same thing twice... when I noticed, I have to come back the next day to delete one of the posts.

I have also seen some people who made applications to different signature campaigns at the same time and when accepted in one, they delete the other applications. I would also love to know if this is a bad practice.

There should be other reasons why people delete their posts, but I just gave the ones I have experienced.

Unless I'm wrong, if not, I don't see post length as what's being used to determine whether a post should be deleted or not.
You can write a 1-line post that stays on topic with the thread and has a valid message that it's passing to the people, and it won't be deleted, but if the comment appears to be just some form of exclamation and nothing too serious to be located in it, then it can be wiped out by moderators as it appears to be a scam.

Even lengthy posts get deleted; if they're not organic and look like shit to a thread, I think they will also still get nuked down unless there are some exceptions to how posts are considered based on rank, which I have not read about yet.

Anyhow I want to know that if we delete our posts ourselves, does it have a bad effect on our account and can we still get tagged or something or it is completely normal ?
It's completely normal. There are no reason to tag someone for that however we have some over enthusiastic forum members who will write a note something like "Be aware..." but I think most of us already learned how to ignore this group and their leader.

This can also lead to temporary ban of the account if moderator keeps on seeing posts to delete.

I have deleted many of my posts before myself and nothing happened to my account. But do not delete post in a way it will affect other people. There are some times that you may decide to delete your post.

Can I guess it? But this doesn't seem like a guessing thread, so let's forget it.

Oh no, this seems off topic, I'm ready for it to be deleted or reported  Grin

It shouldn't have any bad effect on your account but deleting your old posts might affect your forum ranks. I heard someone with full member rank deleted his few old posts and it ranked down.

That will happen if the user who deletes his posts old posts deletes so many of those that less than 120 posts remain. 1 post = 1 activity point and if someone who has 120 activity points and 200 posts and suddenly that person decides to delete 120 posts then he/she will have only 80 activity points which will de-rank that member. A full-member rank requires one to have at least 120 activity points.

No need to delete our post because we can used them as reference purpose in the future and whenever we look at our post we can know when we are progressing gradually. If your post got deleted by mod it's assumed is a low quality post hence their is no bad effects towards it rather you are encouraged to make quality post, alternatively I can say that the post you made is either doesn't reflect to what the thread is saying and if mod or any admin finds them they could get those post deleted.

If you keep deleting your post sometimes you are attracting eyes to your account because people can either sees it as account try to change hands or being controlled by other user. That is why you don't need to delete any of your post although this could be a kind of something that will be there for you in time to come to know how gradually you are making progress. But if you delete your post it shows that there's an evil activity going on within your account.

1 post = 1 activity point and if someone who has 120 activity points and 200 posts and suddenly that person decides to delete 120 posts then he/she will have only 100 activity points
This is not accurate.
Your activity is minimum of 14*number of two-week periods in which you have been active and number of your posts. So, if you delete some of your posts and your post count decreases to 100, your activity wouldn't be necessarily 100. Your activity will be a number between 0 and 100.

Yes this is quite true. Actmyname tagged many members for their spamming and could be check easily in the bpip history that how much posts deleted by mod. Some other DT also tagged which looking so bad and compaign manager think twice when select members for review and signature.

Anyhow I want to know that if we delete our posts ourselves, does it have a bad effect on our account and can we still get tagged or something or it is completely normal ?

Deleting a post doesn't affect your account , however if your deleted post contain some suspicious activity then it's possible that you may recieve neutrel tag. This tag serve as a   reminder  and doesn't harm your account. anyway deleting post is not good practice unless you have made any mistake.

Deleting some old posts likely won't get you tagged. But if you erase a ton of stuff you posted, people might wonder why and the internet never forgets. Things you put out there are hard to take back completely.  Here on this forum, we have at least two archives keeping copies of posts even if you delete them from your profile. So once you hit publish, you cannot really hide it after that.

The first thing is to ask yourself why you want to delete the post ? I hope it is not because you said something to anyone bad and/or you want to back away from your point of view or any such controversial thing. Apart from that, deleting your own post will do no harm to you.

Also remember that deleting a post yourself and getting a post deleted by mods are two separate things. If you get your post being deleted by mods, this means someone reported your posts and the mods found that they are not up to the standards. Getting a lot of post getting deleted by the mods could also temporary ban your account.

Deleting your own posts doesn't harm your account at all and the only thing will surely change is your post count and some cases your activity points too but if the reason is different which you deleted so many post then it will make you suspicious and people will hesitate to get involved with you and will most likely mind their own business and don't care about you at all for being suspicious or you might get ignored (possibly).

Yes, it can harm your rank in the Bitcointalk platform because your Post will determine your activities of your account in the forum, but if you discover that there is errors or mistakes in your post, I guess you can edit your post to correct the errors in your account to make your activities in your account remain balance. If you find yourself in such situations ,don't delete the post than to read the posts very well to know the right words to use to flam your write up to attract more progress in your account.

If you delete posts at intervals with reasons such as duplicate posting or it being a wrong information, it's not an issue. Pretty much everyone does that as well.

Deleting at a much higher rate regularly, or deleting all of the posts you have made will raise a few eye brows. Not enough to get a tag (negative), but enough for users to avoid replying to your comments cause you commonly delete replies you've made and break the flow of discussions. You will get on some ignore lists and get some neutral feedbacks too.

Anyhow I want to know that if we delete our posts ourselves, does it have a bad effect on our account and can we still get tagged or something or it is completely normal ?
It should be normal practice as long as you have a reason to delete it.
I think many people have deleted their own posts for some reason - but if the posts are deleted in large numbers then perhaps some monitors will question the purpose of your actions. I know that's not why you deserve the tag - but something like that is always suspicious.
