No, it doesn't. In rare case, you may lose few of your activities. Otherwise, there's nothing wrong deleting your own post. Why though? I don't think there are a lot of reasons for deleting your own post.
There should be other reasons why people delete their posts, but I just gave the ones I have experienced.
Most persons delete their post because after posting they read through the post and noticed they were going off topic, so the feel its best deleting the post than letting the mod do it. In my opinion if a mod deleted a post then you should take it as a criteria to always to always read through your post and think before posting them on the forum. A lot of persons dont go through their post over and over before they post and this has cause them to loose one way or the other.

Also most post that are deleted by mod or the owner is as a result of the post being posted on the wrong board. This kind of mistake are mostly done by beginners and those who are still learning in the forum and most times they dont know where to share their thought so they just post it anywhere. Lastly some post are deleted because the image shared in the post is not conveying the message the user is trying to share in the opened post.

You can get tagged for deleting your own post, it’s not against the forum rules. Deleting your own posts will only reduce your activity. It cannot be used as a reason to damage the reputation of your account. There are several reasons why a person may choose to delete their posts, some users may decide to delete old posts from their newbies days because they find the posts to be low value and do not want to see them in their post history.

~
If you delete a few posts, it is of no harm, it is your profile, so you can decide to keep it clean and free from some unwanted details like unaccepted campaign applications, low quality post you may have made when you had lesser knowledge etc. But when tons of post are deleted from an account suddenly, that can be considered suspicious and can increase the attention an account gets.

It is just increased suspicion, if nothing is found, you will not get tagged or queried for it.

It shouldn't have any bad effect on your account but deleting your old posts might affect your forum ranks. I heard someone with full member rank deleted his few old posts and it ranked down.

This hold true if your account activity and posts numbers are very close to each other and if you delete your posts, it can affect your current rank, but those accounts who are very old and have greater number of posts, deleting even 100s of posts may not have any effect on the account ranking.

I know that if our posts get deleted by the mods and there are many of them, it means that we are making low value posts, they are being reported and eventually getting deleted. In some cases, we may get tagged by the DT members for being a shit poster.

That’s base on what you post and what the DT portrays it. Also multiple deletion of your post by DT could get you a temp ban but it is on rare occasions, below is a quote from one of the forum moderators

There is no set number and bans are taken on a case by case basis but bans are rarely given for a set amount of posts deleted. If you're caught spamming and all your posts are very low quality then you might get a temp ban. If you don't take the warning and continue making low quality content you'll usually get another ban with the duration doubled but if you have to be banned three times then the fourth is usually the last one you'll get. Thankfully most don't get that far these days but there's also less bans given out for sig spam. This is something we still should be enforcing at the root cause which is the sig campaigns themselves. If they're paying for this fluff time and time again then they should receive the punishment but that's rare. The only case I can think of recently was yobit. Thankfully most campaigns don't get that bad but yobit was like an avalanche of spam unleashed instantly so they had to be dealt with.

Some of my posts have been deleted by moderators, but I'm still fine until now. However there are some differences that I noticed, when I was a newbie, my short posts were more easily deleted by moderators but once I had a higher ranking, my short posts were fine. I don't know why that is

It’s simple when you were a newbie you didn’t have much understanding of the forum and what it entails but now you have grown in knowledge and your short posts carry semantic meaning than they were before. It is not a rank thing even now if you post a short post without meaning or value it will get deleted.

There are instances that can make people delete their own posts. There was a time I had network issues and that made me post the same thing twice... when I noticed, I have to come back the next day to delete one of the posts.

I have also seen some people who made applications to different signature campaigns at the same time and when accepted in one, they delete the other applications. I would also love to know if this is a bad practice.

There should be other reasons why people delete their posts, but I just gave the ones I have experienced.

Other reasons are most people after growing up in the forum rank and also knowledge they went back to their old posts and felt like they were certainly not of quality and probably due to shame or what they decide to delete it them selves. These posts could be those without proper English grammar, Altcoins posts of no value or bounty reports. The later is done so that the member can position himself to look more like a quality poster than a merit fisher when he starts ranking up

Anyhow I want to know that if we delete our posts ourselves, does it have a bad effect on our account and can we still get tagged or something or it is completely normal ?

It is your prerogative if you think that you've improved and you see that your past posts are shitposts but if you tried to hide posts where you cheat and its an evidence you just admit that you are guilty, accounts that changed hands are usually accounts that delete their posts to avoid being traced, but if you think that your only intention is to delete useless and no value posts I don't think there's harm doing that.

I know that if our posts get deleted by the mods and there are many of them, it means that we are making low value posts, they are being reported and eventually getting deleted.
When your posts are deleted by forum moderators, you will receive notifications in your inbox. Those Deletion notifications will be warning and red flag for  you to stop your low quality posts.

You only don't receive deletion notification if a thread is deleted including your posts in it.

Signature Campaign Guidelines (read this before starting or joining a campaign)

Quote
Staff do not want to hand out bans for unconstructive posts but if we feel that you as a user are continually making very poor or unsubstantial posts due to your paid signature the following bans will be issued:

First offence: 7 days
Second offence: 14 days
Third offence: 30 days
Fourth: Permanent ban

Your first ban is your first warning. If you have to be banned for a fourth time it is permanent and you will no longer be allowed to participate on the forum under any accounts.

Shit posters can be easily detected by post histories and I don't need a DT member trust feedback to know a member is a shit poster.

You can do it if you want but after deleting some of your posts, you must think a more important thing. Why did you make shit posts, then deleted them? Why will you not stop making shit posts and won't have to waste your time to delete your shit posts?

DT members really shouldn't be tagging members for being shitposters, because that's what the merit system is for, i.e., to keep them at a low rank in order to disincentivize them from posting for money.  That would be hypocritical of me to say back in 2017, because I used to tag shitposters by the dozen daily, but Theymos frowns on that now.

And deleting your own posts?  Unless you're doing it to hide the fact that your account was purchased and someone figures that out, I'd have to echo everyone who said here that you're not going to get in trouble for doing so.  Members might wonder why you're doing it if they even notice, but I don't think anybody should or will get negative trust for that.  There's no reason to do so that I can see.

Of course you can delete anything you want from your post history. It's your account and your have a choice.

But remember once you posted something on the internet it stays forever... so it's possible you will delete your post from bitcointalk but else where it will stay for example loyce club... or ninjastic.space or maybe in someone's photos as a screenshot:)

Anyway answering to your question in any normal scenario yes you can delete the posts. No, does not have any bad effect on your account.

It's completely normal. There are no reason to tag someone for that however we have some over enthusiastic forum members who will write a note something like "Be aware..." but I think most of us already learned how to ignore this group and their leader.

Totally get what you're saying. There's this forum member who's tagging users suspected of posting low-quality stuff. I've seen quite a few accounts get tagged, but it's usually just a neutral feedback. I'm not sure if there have been updates to this tagging system, but let's be real, nobody's a spammer all the time, right? Some people might try to step up their game and improve their posts. Tagging does kind of work as a warning, but personally, I'm not convinced it's all that necessary.

Now, in response to the OP's question, I can see how you value your account, but I'd say no, it won't mess with your account because it's not reported.

Simply it's because you're a shitposter, click the quoted message to read entire rules in this forum. If you don't want your post get deleted, you must increase your quality post and avoiding to post in self moderated post will decrease the possibility your post would be deleted by the original poster.

Technically, what can happen is that deleting posts could lead the account to drop down a Rank (or a few), like the cases I’ve got inventoried here, but anyone is entitled to ament their posting history if they wish to. I recall people who started off as bounty hunters, and then went off it, consider whether they should delete their bounty reports. Some likely did, most probably let it be. Either way, it shouldn’t really matter that much unless someone is trying to cover something and the deletion leads to bringing something to the spotlight.

The best course of action from any member is when they see a shitposter they can report it to moderator. The feedback system is in no way to use for it even a neutral.

but it's usually just a neutral feedback.
I find it funny when members justify a feedback of their color. I can show you dozens of feedback written in italic and regular font but when you will read you will have a negative idea about the person who has the feedback on his feedback page. The feedback leaving for shitporters was first started by actmyname I think and these days many members inspired from it and abusing the system.

losing your activity count or being demoted to a lower rank if you delete enough of your posts is the only thing I can think of that would negatively affect your account, though some members find what you did suspicious, or might ask some questions. just so you know, there are already members who have deleted enough of their posts themselves that their activity decreased, and nope they weren't tagged for doing it.

First off forum users delete messages for different reasons, for example :

  • it could be that the reply itself was off topic and you realised this and took it down
  • someone might ask you to pull it down as it might contain sentive personal information about a forum user
  • fyi others have gone has far as posting private keys in public  and deleting a post is all done to correct these mistakes.

But does deleting a message leave a dent to our name, it's definitely yes and no..just because you deleted without the mods doing it doesn't mean someone else didn't see what was happening and if this tends to be a habit, you would
be surprised that people do notice these things and keeping tabs. Besides why write stuff that won't stick Huh just shows some thought never went into the writing .

It shouldn't have any bad effect on your account but deleting your old posts might affect your forum ranks. I heard someone with full member rank deleted his few old posts and it ranked down.

That will happen if the user who deletes his posts old posts deletes so many of those that less than 120 posts remain. 1 post = 1 activity point and if someone who has 120 activity points and 200 posts and suddenly that person decides to delete 120 posts then he/she will have only 100 activity points which will de-rank that member. A full-member rank requires one to have at least 120 activity points.

I have heard this before that deleting too much posts can have you loss your current rank. But I'm unsure if it's totally true. I have never seen any person saying, I was a senior member but I'm now full member. Is it really possible? Is anywhere in the forum mentioned about this? Like an official post from admin or mod? Can you provide a link? I want to see. I thought activity was just like merits. You cannot loss them.

Activity is like posts, if you delete enough posts, your Activity drops.

Yes of course I will try to do that now and I will try to write a thoughtful post and thoughtfully reply to any post.

It was a mistake in my life and I just brought my mistake and I will never make this mistake again. And I was a new member then I understand something Naiko now I understand a lot and I am also slowly trying to understand where to write.

That's true.
If your posts are deleted, you may lose your activity and if you lose actvity, you may lose your rank.

I have never seen any person saying, I was a senior member but I'm now full member.
