In the world of cryptocurrency trading, where every minute counts, the choice between a standing desk and a traditional chair can be a topic of hot debate. I've spent 15 years on trading floors, and I've experienced both sides of the spectrum. Standing desks have their perks, offering potential health benefits and increased alertness, which can be crucial for making quick decisions in the volatile crypto market.

But here's a question for you, fellow Bitcointalk traders: Does standing really help make better and faster decisions in the high-speed trading world? Have you tried it, and did it work for you? Or do you believe that the comfort of a super ergonomic chair is the key to staying sharp during those long trading hours? Let's dive into this discussion and share our insights on finding the perfect balance between health and productivity in the crypto trading world. Your experiences and opinions matter, so let's hear them!

I find that standing makes me more mentally alert and allows me to make decisions faster, whereas sitting makes me feel slower.
However, I usually limit myself to one or two trades, because too many trades can cause my mind to make bad decisions, which leads to more losses.

I think this all boils down to preferences, as well as how people take care of their physical health, such as getting a good amount of sleep and maintaining a proper diet, among other factors.

However, on a scientific note, there is research[1] that shows standing could affect a person's concentration because standing utilizes some parts of our brain instead of allocating them to more intensive tasks, such as trading, for example.

But if you have the budget and you think it's cool? Why not?

Go with trading intra day, you might need these things but I find all these are a waste. Go with long term trading and you will be able to keep a stable sleep pattern and trade at the same time. The more you go into spot and all those leverage and All the more stress you will have to face.

Why increase that stress with chance of varicose veins and all?

If you feel it's good for you, do it but I don't know ho long in the older age you would be able to continue standing like that. Ergonomic chairs are good as an alternative but the best is to move to long term trading.

Even then a good trader knows when to buy or sell with just a device in any posture.

That's an interesting perspective! It's great to hear that standing helps boost your mental alertness for faster decision-making. It's crucial to find what works best for your trading style. Do you also use a standing desk for your daily work outside of trading? I'm curious to know if you've experienced similar benefits in other aspects of your work routine.

Both of them do not affect trading directly, but rather on the trader’s decisions, which if they are affected by psychological factors such as trading after eating, or in the morning, or after the end of work, or before sleep, you need to control your emotions, as the greater the conviction that doing a certain psychological thing before trading means that you will make profits is a big mistake.

Get a place with good lighting and a comfortable chair, and you can think about trading decisions while walking or running according to the way you find suitable for you to think and make appropriate trading decisions.

You make a valid point about the importance of controlling emotions and psychological factors in trading. Having a comfortable workspace with good lighting is essential for maintaining focus. As for the preference between a standing desk or a mix of standing and seating, it seems that both can work, provided you manage your emotions effectively.

However, if we're taking out all other factors like sleep, diet, and exercise, I might lean towards a mix of standing and seating. This way, you can enjoy the benefits of increased alertness from standing while also having the option to sit when needed for a more relaxed and composed trading experience. But it's always fascinating to see how different traders find what suits them best. What's your personal preference, and why?

But here's a question for you, fellow Bitcointalk traders: Does standing really help make better and faster decisions in the high-speed trading world?
My bots don't really care if they work at a booth table or not, they are always damn fast in executing the trades  Wink

Joking aside ... I had some of my most successful, directly executed trades on the smartphone in the subway, the worst trades in a large trading center with tens of screens. Not directly executed trades run anyway via bots (as certainly at least 90% of all trades), these are simply unbeatable when it comes to the fastest possible decisions. In some markets, a real battle for the best bot with the fastest decision algorithms has broken out.

For the general daily business work, I agree with you, here standing desks are unbeatable. Less because of the attention or concentration ability, much more for health reasons ... So I can only warmly recommend the tables to anyone who works several hours a day at the PC. The desks are also not as expensive as they were back then, at $500 upwards you can already get quite usable work desks.

I did not know if there was anything like that. I mean, I did not even have a slight idea till now that there is a topic for such discussion. Well, if there is really a concern about such a selection of desks, or standing setup of trading, then I don't think we have to be that fast in trading, because we do TA and FA and make trades and set different limits orders to book profits at different prices. And yeah, sometimes, the market does make unexpected things that one has to react and think quickly in order to make a quick profit or lose.

But such cases are totally rare, and we can not just stand for such trades, because we don't know for how long we have to stand to make a quick reaction and we might get tired and in the end, we might miss the chance of reacting quickly and lose the opportunity.

But to be honest, I really liked the idea of health because standing does make us healthy but standing trading is not what we need instead a healthy lifestyle is what we need.

I don’t know what you mean by ergonomic chair but, I think a high level of comfort could prevent you from making any hasty decision which wouldn’t be the case when your trading while standing. It isn’t something I’ve tried but, I just know one doesn’t make the best of decision in a standing position. There are comforts, calmness and proper tools to this shit.
Just how do you use your tools in a standing position?
It just doesn’t seem okay to me and it’s not something I’m willing to try either. A more sitting position would have the greater advantage.

I didn't know this could be a topic and I haven't got your point of making quick decisions by using a standing desk.

It depends on the user's desires and requirements. A desk that can change its highest can be a good option. If you think you want to work standing or sitting on a chair you can do that. Sometimes I also feel like it would have been convenient for me if I could change my body position frequently when working in front of my desk. I have seen this kind of desk is available in the Amazon store.

it would be healthier if you apply both, when you are tired you can sit and when you are focused you can stand (you will not be able to stand sitting for a long time and standing for a long time), but from several professionals in the trading field that I asked, they said it was more comfortable to trade while standing because it was more focused, maybe you could try it yourself and find out which one is more comfortable for you personally.

I have tried a standing desk before and i have to say it felt pretty good, felt way more awake and alert, also back didnt hurt at all. I would prefer it for working but for gaming i would still sit down. Right now im still at a regular seated desk but once i find a good standing desk with a good price i will switch over for sure (ideall a adjustable desk with many hight levels).

Standing desk is better for all kinds of jobs you are normally doing sitting down whole day. Or ergonomic chair or a gym ball. Being a trader is no different from any jobs that are done sitting on the desk looking at the monitors. But it doesn't guarantee any results. Best crypto traders i know do it with their laptop on the road.

But if you really want to tweak your trading conditions, start from the basics. As with better health and better life, you can concentrate better. Using brain power is wears you out. You need to be able to snap out of it and keep other valuable things in your life than just work.

Remember to utilize free time well. Exercise, sleep well, eat healthy, practise midfulness or anything that relaxes your mind. Work on your psychological issues and balance your time you have for your work / love / family / friends / alone time. Because health comes from balanced life, mind and body. Not from tricks. You might have as much time for work as you would want, but surely you want to enjoy your life too? It isn't all making as much money as you can if life is otherwise empty.

I was stunned to read that there are such topics that need discussion. I mean, analysis and the study of a token need proper time relaxation, and comfort, and when you do that in a standing position, you will definitely get tired, and in the end, you might make some mistakes during the analysis, which would hurt you in the form of lose. We definitely cannot ignore the benefit of standing because it is good for our health. But definitely not for trading.

I have a question for the OP, if he tried both ways of trading, like sitting on the chair or standing, then why shift to only one method? Why not use both ways to do trading? Like you did on the floor. You must have seen many traders standing in the trading when they exhausted themselves due to laziness and tiredness from sitting for a long time.

And you must have a chair to do the analysis when you are tired of standing out. I hope you are getting my points, dear OP.

Maybe in a commercial setting people sometimes use standing desks however I am pretty sure with most retail traders, they just use a regular desk and sit. Especially since its located inside their home and they might want to watch a movie and doing that while standing would be uncomfortable.

Last time I went to IKEA they had a desk which basically had a height setting and you could adjust the height. So it can be standing and sitting just by moving the lever. These aren't that expensive and its a better solution than getting a standing desk which you might get tired off after a few weeks and then have to buy another desk.

For what I have read and on my experience a chair needs to be ergonomic so you can deal with the many hours you will have to remain sit down, however a chair must not be incredibly comfortable either, otherwise your alertness may be reduced and you could even go to sleep in it, something that you do not really want when you are trading and you need to be fully alert to process what is happening on the markets and take the right decision, at the right time.

It's true that standing in front of computer is better than having a chair and sit for a long period of time. Doctors tell that it's needed to have a longer standing position than a sitting position.

But here's a question for you, fellow Bitcointalk traders: Does standing really help make better and faster decisions in the high-speed trading world? Have you tried it, and did it work for you? Being fit has its benefits for sure and it's not just standing but whichever you prefer to make yourself more alert and have a clearer mind, that's what you should do.

Whether you are in a sitting position as it helps you more relax than standing. The choice differs and depending on the situation of every trader.

Maybe we think it's a waste not until we try it and prove that it was really working or it improved the way we trade. I know some will think it's only in our head but there are things who are actually working for real. I think long-term trading was still part of a spot trading.

And trading is truly a stressful and hard activity especially if you are still starting on it. Even if many of us are only an investor we still find it hard sometimes to get a good sleep because we are over thinking about our assets. We shouldn't elevate the stress that we feel but we should watch our body first. If it's now use to the existing stress that we have, maybe that is the time for us to level it up.
