All investments have risks. Gold or real estate are considered safe havens, but that doesn't mean there are no risks, there will be rare risks that we never expect. But that doesn't mean bitcoin is safer or better than other assets. Investing in bitcoin you will also have to face its volatility, or the future of bitcoin is still a question mark. Not to mention we encounter risks such as hacking, natural disasters, fires...many incidents will lead to loss of seed phrases. Nothing is absolutely safe, including bitcoin.

I don't know if it's because of politics now that the old government has changed to a new one, maybe there is a dispute or the land is in an illegal zone so the new government is dismantling the property there, some countries still have the same problem, keep in mind when investing in property the land must be completely legal and the certificate of title is in your name so that it does not cause any problems.

Bitcoin is simpler and this is obviously financial freedom, I don't put everything in bitcoin - I need a decent real estate to live in for my own family, some real estate that is bought as another additional investment for the future, I don't want to rely solely on bitcoin even though I have financial freedom, I am more diversified for investment.

OP, I believe that we are from the same country and in Nigeria, if your house is built on government land or on a land that is too close to the government road and needs to be demolished, government do give compensation to the owners of those buildings, so that they can use the funds to get somewhere else to build on. Bitcoin is very risky compare to real estate due to the volatile nature of bitcoin and every scammers are online hunting for people that they will steal their bitcoin. If you don't secure it very well, your wallet will be compromise, but real estate is less risky. Why I love bitcoin and will advise my poor and average friends like me to invest in bitcoin is  that, you can invest with any amount and it is open to all. Unlike real estate that is only an investment for the rich. I love both investment and I believe that both of them are important.

The problem with that, if it happens like in Spain when they expropriate to build roads for example, is that what the government gives you is not enough to buy a house of similar characteristics in another place, they give you much less. And if it were the case of having been built in a place that they consider illegal, I doubt that they would give you anything.

Why I love bitcoin and will advise my poor and average friends like me to invest in bitcoin is  that, you can invest with any amount and it is open to all. Unlike real estate that is only an investment for the rich. I love both investment and I believe that both of them are important.

That is one of the reason why Bitcoin is the best investment among the others, which is the decentralization. Unlike the others, you would have to take care of the paper works for example, the real state, you would need to have a permission from the city government and the signature from a licensed engineer/architect for the floor plan. Pretty hassle right, if you've mistaken then your investment could be the same from OP's scenario. In Bitcoin you could do whatever you want without government involved, plus the tax that would deduct from your salary or profit. In short, you have the freedom to take control of your assets and invesment, it will only depends into your hands if you will profit or take loss.

Anyone still doubting the freedom, comfort and peace that Bitcoin offers is probably yet to embrace reality.

You just gave a small example that is happening in your country, and you assert that bitcoin is safer than all the rest of the investments. Is that too biased against bitcoin? Everyone will agree with you because this is a bitcoin forum, but if you bring this topic to another investment forum, how will people respond to you?  But can you tell me, if bitcoin is really as good as you say then why is real estate still considered the safest asset to date even surpassing gold? Why do top investors and billionaires still choose real estate over any asset, including bitcoin? Aren't those billionaires more stupid than us?

Bitcoin as an investment means is good, but I will prefer to diversify and invest also in real estate. If you have the money to invest in real estate, it would be good. But as you invest in bitcoin with $500, you can not invest in real estate with that low amount of money which is one of the reason bitcoin can be better in that way because with little amount of money you can invest in bitcoin, unlike real estate. The advantage of real estate is that the property you have do not devalue but continue to appreciate.

Yes investing in real estate requires a large amount of funds.  Due to which real estate investment is a safe investment but not everyone can invest here. But anyone can invest $1 in Bitcoin. And Bitcoin is also a potential asset, which is a positive aspect of Bitcoin. and that's why people are so attracted to Bitcoin investment. But I would also advise to look at multiple assets to invest. Then one will recover the other's loss in this case the risk will be minimized. And if one keeps an eye on only one asset in this case it may either give him a high profit or face a huge loss.  It has high risk

I think it's a matter of fact that Bitcoin was created not as an investment but primarily as a medium of exchange that allows removing the third party from the process, so it's not really something to argue for or against. But yes, it did turn out that Bitcoin became a very lucrative form of investment.
I'm really sorry about Lagos and the destroyed property. It's certainly unfair and sad for the investors. Another thing about physical property is that in some regions there can be a very legitimate concern of it getting destroyed due to warfare or natural disasters. Bitcoin is at least safe from those risks because it's digital.

I dont know the whole story of this destroys real state stuff but it is really heartbreaking if you going to see your investment in the house that you built was being destroyed by someone. I mean for sure there are going to be legal stuff about this if you actually own a real state or a house government can't really just do this to you, maybe there are some unfair laws but there are always compensations. I wouldn't claim that Bitcoin is a much safer investment than real estate because Bitcoin market price is still dependent on supply and demand, really just similar to rare collection so market value is just going to be speculative. If there are no people that is going to be willing to buy Bitcoin at 100k$ that just means that it is not going to be worth 100k$.

Still, I would still recommend Bitcoin investment because its also a great investment and a great way to fight inflation even though it is a risky one, as long as you dont put you eggs in one basket i would say it is worth the risk of putting some of your money in Bitcoin.

Everything in life have Risk, those  that invested  in real estate are doing so at least to help people to have a place to stay, so people can have a place to do business, so people can also have place to showcase their talents like halls to for hire for an event and all sort other things. But I would still say, real estate investment is good investment. Investment varies, if you're a bitcoin enthusiast, you can successfully invest in bitcoin and yield your profit. So I feel everybody should be allowed to follow their passion. Bitcoin has its own advantage and most of us including me, has decided to adopt the bitcoin, but people should be free to make their choices

Bitcoin still has its limitations. It may indeed generate bigger profit as an invest in comparison to others but,price increase alone won’t make an asset the best. First of all it depends on the type of investor you are. Some will have doubts toward this industry and that’s valid; adoption of its usage is still in the verge, huge price movements and the likes. Bitcoin is a good investment no doubt but to push people towards this industry is,for me, a negative thing to do and will just be better to wait for non-bitcoin users to have their own initiative on cryptocurrency. I like differences of opinion - but I tend to agree that bitcoin is a hedge worth considering compared to other assets. Of course I don't mind other people's choice of investment assets regardless of whether it's real estate or whatever - but bitcoin has stolen a lot of my attention so far and it will do so even more so during inflation.

But know - bitcoin is not everything because you still need other assets such as land, house, jewelry, or so on that support your needs and lifestyle. This will not be overlooked regardless of which asset you think is better as a hedge or investment.

In the beginning, bitcoin was introduced just for speedy transactions across borders and to reduce the influence of government on your assets and avoid third-party persons but today bitcoin is very vast and people now know the bitcoin as a good source of investment as compared to others and there are many reasons of it. One of them is you can invest even a small amount of money in Bitcoin but for others like real estate, you require a huge amount you can't start it with a low budget. Every investment has its own risk whether you invest in Bitcoin, real state, or give to the bank they all has risk but apart from Bitcoin they all are under the government influence and Bitcoin gives you the freedom of this and make you the owner of your own money and this is the biggest difference and most people choose bitcoin over them.

Talking about the real estate investment, knowing fully well that the loss of the property is very painful , but government will not just demolish a building just like that so there's something wrong, I will prefer if you drop the link of what happened and how it started. But before owning a property especially a building terms and conditions are involved. I can still remember in my community when my state government sent police to destroy peoples properties (house) just because the houses was close to the road. The fact is both real estate investment and bitcoin investment are risky and still have advantage.
You can't force someone to love bitcoin investment, so I don't see any reason why people argue about real estate and bitcoin investment because it sounds funny sometimes. That’s largely true! Living in a state where it was a common practice for the governor, looking out for land to grab in the name of the state government and later converts it to an investment of his own desire and ownership, you begin to wonder if you ever made the right choice in buying properties for an investment choice ot should have sort a more different line.
In most cases, they get compensation and at other times, nothing at all. Though, I discovered there is an advantage to some. In compensated cases, you get a chance to erect a more modern building but, the disadvantage is always large as, you lose a good site and don’t get full value for your wise choice over the years.

Unfortunately, as much as I would want yo side Bitcoin, I would t be so Pro-Bitcoin by placing it ahead of Real Estate, both are good choices I would say.

It is just unfortunate what has happened to the investor who has invested heavily in that estate that was brought down. Maybe there was some kind of consolation for him for the loss, which is something expected if the property was something obtained legally and was correctly approved. Correctly approved means he did not lobby for the land and project to be approved when it was against structural plan, or not a land suitable to purchased and used for such purpose. If the land was lobbied to be obtained then what has happened to him and his investment is something that has just been delayed.
