I completely agree with you, people who don't go out, but prefer to always be on their own are called introverts.
This is actually the type of person I am before I got married, and luckily, I got married to a woman who happens to be my direct opposite, she's so lively, talks to almost everyone that sometimes, I personally feel that she talks way too much, but then, I am still happy for with her help, I now engage in some other activities outside inside of just lock my self inside all day gambling.

Lucky for me is the fact that I wasn't a gambler before I meet her, if not, I probably would have wasted a lot of money on gambling that I probably would not have achieved the things I own today.

Yes that's right, there are many things that people who are lonely think about including gambling, and judging from now what is busy in society is gambling, so lonely people are susceptible to being interested in gambling which they can do when they are lonely because this is fun and also profitable if he himself is lucky. Loneliness can make an individual cultivate and sustain habits they ordinarily wouldn’t have done if they had someone else with them. Gambling is just one out of several habits anyone can develop serious interest in due to loneliness. This happens I think, mostly with married couples who’ve lived and done most things together.

I don’t think anyone who gambles not for fun could be said to be an addict or a sign of drawing addiction. People gamble for different purposes and it’s up to them to do what suits them best. We all would be better off if we don’t judge the lifestyle of someone else and focus more on how to better ourselves.

It's true that loneliness can cloud our decisions and those who have gambling only as their means of entertainment are the ones who are prone to get addicted to it. It's their only escape from boredom and dissatisfaction with life especially those who live alone and have internet access 24/7.

That's not really the case there since some have a good life but still been caught up with their activities since gambling addiction comes up when we enjoy to much on the games we are doing. But it doesn't mean they are lonely and want to be alone since there are people which has still a social life even if they are betting to much on this activities. All these questions is been asked because someone close said all these and I think he are losing money and losing himself too, of all the discussions we had, these are the points I held unto.

It could be a way for him to immediately forget what happened to him and his wife, and gambling could also be the one that gives him relief from what he is going through. But literally speaking in the eyes of others, he is wasting or just throwing away money, in my opinion.
