That’s definitely the only way to get a coin sent to a wallet back, the recipient sent it back directly. But then how did the address get attached to him, TXID doesn’t displays reference name and google isn’t use to search for transaction details but rather a block explorer is used instead.

You did not recover them, but the owner of the private key sent the same amount to your address. There is no way to cancel the transaction after sending it (1 confirmation)

It is true that you are lucky to get your money back, but you lost the transaction confirmation fees.

Surely you accidentally control + c his wallet address when you view one of his post containing his wallet address or when you view his profile.

You are lucky that his an active user here in forum and has a good repute here or else you will not get back your tokens. @Yamane_Keto was right, You didn’t recover it but the guy here in the forum is just a good person since he has no obligation to return it to you since you send it to his address already without him misleading you.

The only method to recover it is if the recipient's address returns the coin; otherwise, it is lost.

To avoid such mistakes, always be cautious when sending out coins. There are several malware viruses that infiltrate our devices via phishing attacks and then take control of our keyboards, with the ability to replace our wallet addresses with their own in order to receive the coin we are about to send. That is why it is important to double-check the address before sending it, as they can change our addresses with theirs that have similar suffixes to ours.

Yep its funny someone returned the coins. Hard to believe I guess thats why you find it funny. You are lucky to have sent the coin to someone who has no intention of keeping it. If it's someone else, you'd be posting your rants already.  It is not every day a person receives some coins that they don't expect and for that, they will consider it sent by God.

So what was your original destination address? Were you randomly sending to a random address or you knew what you were doing? Because if you are sending to an exchange, to a friend, to anyone, usually you'd double check the address before sending, but now you are saying you don't know how his address got into your clipboard, that's a bit strange.🤔

TXID doesn’t displays reference name and google isn’t use to search for transaction details but rather a block explorer is used instead.
Google is not used to verify or search for transaction details, but most times Google can give you a clue to whom the address belongs. That's for a case where the address has been used in a public place where a name or person details are attached to the person.

With the help of Google, you can easily link an address that has been used in a place that is public, like this forum; they can just help locate a post where the address has been posted. I guess that's what the OP did, and the address linked to the above-mentioned user is in this forum.

Yes @rat03gopoh is a respected member of the Indonesian community of the forum. He is also an active Hero member of that posts on different boards of the forum. I guess you will definitely get back the mistakingly sent funds. But you need it be careful next time because you might not be lucky. Many people have lost money due to such mistake. Have you contacted him through personal message?

So what was your original destination address? Were you randomly sending to a random address or you knew what you were doing? Because if you are sending to an exchange, to a friend, to anyone, usually you'd double check the address before sending, but now you are saying you don't know how his address got into your clipboard, that's a bit strange.🤔

Strange indeed. But anything is possible in the crypto space. He claimed it was an error without giving any further explanation.

The owner of the address you sent will definitely send your money back if the transaction you said was sent by mistake is successful.
The story you call funny reminds us of the checksum function.

OP. Next time be careful when you want to make a transaction. Carelessness can make us lose money.
@rat03gopoh haven't seen this thread.

Unfortunately there is no way to cancel or rivers are transaction in Bitcoin. That is one of the biggest issues with Bitcoin. You are lucky enough to get the money back. There are numerous occasion where people have mistakenly sent out Bitcoins and never receive them back.

Bitcoin is good as an investment but if we look from the perspective of a currency or a payment processor, it cannot be worse.

Be careful not to make the same mistake twice, you may not be so lucky the second time.

To avoid mistakes of sending to a wrong address, always double check the address you pasted with the one you copied because asides the mistake you made, you may never know when you have been affected by the clipboard virus from cyber criminals that can modify crypto address copied to the clipboard to that of the criminal behind it.

It is not impossible to be a victim when the device you use often to surf the internet is same device you store and send your bitcoins from.

You're lucky that you're able to determine who's the owner of the address but how did you managed to send it to a random address(his) when you don't know him? What are you doing that time when you're trying to send that transaction? Are you also in the forum and just trying to browse and by random accident you copied his address but how? I am just confused. As long as your problem is solved and you have no worries anymore, you tend to be lucky this time but whatever you do and how you did ended up sending it to the wrong address by mistake the next time you commit this mistake and you can't see the owner of it. The receiver might just think he's lucky that he's got some random airdrop.

Don't be in haste when trying to do a transaction to avoid such a mistake repeating itself in the future, or multi-tasking when doing a transaction, You are very lucky to have your funds sent back because you rarely have this case happen and I must commend the receiver of the funds for returning the funds,  if this transaction were to be someone else outside the forum, your crypto is lost once it has been confirmed on the blockchain network. This should be a lesson for you, Op.

Lucky you that the person you had sent your bitcoin is a good person. This kind of situation doesn't happen that much. The fact that the coins where sent to you back and the chances that you wrongly copy pasted an address. I wonder how you contacted him? Thru telegram? If it's a random address, there's no way that you will contact that person.

I suggest to run an antivirus or check your device if it has a malware in it as you said that you didn't know where that address, though I doubt that the person was a hacker given that he returned your money, but just to be safe, check your device.

This time you are very lucky OP because your mistake sent it to someone who can return it, next time be careful maybe someone else won't think twice about returning it if it's a mistake from you, just double check the address to make sure that the wallet is correct.

Then has your btc been returned so far from rat03gopoh?
If it's done then it's better to lock this thread because the problem is over.

I feel lucky that I found the owner of the address and he seems like good person and very reputable on this forum Smiley

It seems this person rat03gopoh has not replied yet here if he did send BTC back to you.
He just recently online 3 hours ago and I believe he will send your BTC soon. You are lucky that it is one of our fellow forum members but if not you won't be able to get your coins back.

Next time triple check the copied/pasted address before sending BTC I experience this sometimes that's why I always check multiple times to make sure it will be sent to the right person.

Lol so I still don't know how it happen but somehow I sent some money to @rat03gopoh how I get his address copied to my clipboard I don't know but I was searched on Google for the address and come up with the holder then contacted him and hope to get it back, 😅  funny story

It’s not everyday you hear something like this. How you got the bitcoin address is still a mystery as you gave little information about that or the amount in question. You’re indeed very lucky that the owner of the bitcoin address is a member here and one with a reputation for that matter. You won’t always be this lucky, there are many people who have lost their bitcoins in this same way. Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, so make sure to double check your address when making a transaction.

Unfortunately there is no way to cancel or rivers are transaction in Bitcoin. That is one of the biggest issues with Bitcoin. You are lucky enough to get the money back. There are numerous occasion where people have mistakenly sent out Bitcoins and never receive them back.
Being irreversible is not an issue, it's a positive that Bitcoin has other forms of currency.

First point to note is for a transaction to be reversible, there has to be a central authority to oversee transactions and go through the details of each one to ensure people do not just reverse transactions after paying for something. This will mean Bitcoin is not decentralized and is not a unique, futuristic asset at all.

If transactions were reversible you will not be certain you own the bitcoins in your wallet.
What we have to do it take responsibility when making a transaction. Triple check the address in it's entirety and not just the first and last characters.
