In 2011 I’ve bought 100+ BTC on some cryptocurrency stock exchange and now I can not remember what was the site exactly.
I’ve got only email which also was a login name and my passport information.
I’ve made a purchase using my credit card but it is impossible to get a bank statement for the year 2011 now.
There is no information about this purchase on my email also.
Does anybody have any idea how to find out what was the site and where the BTC now ?
Maybe it is possible to analyse all the Bitcoin blockchain blocks for feb.-march.2011 and to select those who contains the sums near to 100 BTC ? And then  we can try to find the owner of the bitcoin adress where the funds were transfered to... Is it real ?
The reward of 10 BTC will be distributed in case we find this BTC.

Can you please explain first how you remember it now, did you just awake from a coma or do you have Alzheimer's and you just remember this thing, It was already 12 years ago, and there are so many obstacles to recovering those Bitcoin and even if you offer 50% of that amount I don't think anyone here can help you this is like looking for a needle in a haystack based on the information you provided.

Even if you find the owner of those Bitcoin now, if he still owns them, do you think he will send them back to you, finding out those Bitcoins is a long shot much more getting back those Bitcoin, why not try to learn how to move on instead of trying to recover these Bitcoins you've loss, dot you worry you're not alone on this.

The information you're providing is insufficient to help you recover your BTC. This information makes it extremely difficult to assist you in obtaining the result you want.  If this is the amount of BTC you owned that year, you should have additional data that will lead you there. But how come you simply awoke from a deep slumber and suddenly remember this BTC? You asked someplace else outside the forum and couldn't find anyone to assist you in getting it back? I'm just amazed at how you feel about it now and want it after all these years.

I think it's only through some kind of sorcery power that
can reveal this to you. Common, you were the one who bought the bitcoin on whatever exchange you claimed to, so how can someone else on this forum be able to tell you the exchange where you bought the coin?

We are all aware that this is simply impossible to track unless further information is available. He provided a tempting amount for the person who can find the CEX where he saved the BTC, so he's not too concerned about hunting for it himself because he'll be paying this much for the person who finds the exchange.

Shocked, and how do you intend to know the particular exchange it was, way back in 2011? You're going to use some mystical power or something?

OP, forgot about Bitcoin since 2011 till now; despite all the high price of Bitcoin, it's just now he is realizing he had 100 Bitcoin somewhere; doesn't that even sound like a joke in the first place? Was he asleep the other year?

You just know that has 100 BTC today, and I just confusing, why you don't ask it together with your wealth 13 trillion $ a year ago?. I just think if you have something bug in your memory. because the information you provided is incomplete and tends to be biased. Some of the post above tell if that time there isn't an exchange accepted for a credit card, which I think, if your story is true, you might be cheated, and no more BTC there. excepting if you move it to a Bitcoin core wallet which may still be recoverable using wallet.dat, and we are here can be easily to explain how to recovery step if you have your own bitcoin key.

Thanks everybody for their answers and advises. I understand the story looks a bit unreal. But this is for real.  This BTC where bought by my friend in 2011. Hi is rather far from cryptocurrency and computers at all. Then he've lost a paper with login and password and thought it was over.. Recently, he accidentally told me about this case, because he found out that I am engaged in cryptocurrencies. Of course, I also don't really believe that it will be possible to find these bitcoins, but just in case, I decided to ask for help from the community.

Back in 2011, no exchanger was accepting cards, only wire transfers.

So you're lying.

Or a bad memory, which may be confused in the year. Although I think it is more likely that he is lying. We had a similar case on my local forum of someone saying they had lost access to bitcoins they had bought over 15 years ago. When I told him that this was impossible he insisted that he was not lying, that he bought them at $70 each bitcoin more than 15 years ago. In that case it could be a bad memory.

Really? Telling another story now?

I’ve made a purchase using my credit card but it is impossible to get a bank statement for the year 2011 now.

This is complete different from your original statement. Stop wasting our time.
I don't see the point of the story here at the moment... Other than just a bad troll that as many people as possible respond to?

If truly you still got email then you should have the name of the centralized exchange and it's possible that the exchange is already not working again because most crypto exchange from 2011 are all down today, there is no way to get your Bitcoin back because it's too far in the past and also it's a centralized platform, a place that's never suited for keeping Bitcoin or any digital assets.

You are not the only person that have lost access to their Bitcoin, just take this is a big lesson and try to use anything for what its truly created for, Bitcoin is a decentralized digital asset, the last place you want to keep them is in the hands of any crypto exchanges, unfortunately, many people don't like reading the whitepaper, they just stumble on something and start liking it but not willing to understand it perfectly.

If you really want to know how I feel about your story I don't believe it, because if you really buy those Bitcoin you should know how much it worth in a year later, even in 2015 a 100 pieces of Bitcoin you bought in 2011 would have worth a lot, how come you don't sell already and instead decided to leave everything in care of a crypto exchange?

The number of services from back then are next to none. It sounds like it could have been BitInstant but they got shut down in like 2013.

Your best bet is to contact your bank and see if they have records that far back but I think that is going to be difficult.

Best of luck.

The reward of 10 BTC will be distributed in case we find this BTC.

This is hard task to do especially if you forget all the important details needed. Maybe try to remember first what are the exchange exist on year 2011 so that you can start digging them up then try to find some details to contact your owners and claim your hidden BTC their.

But I doubt you can get that even if you remember what exchange it is since first maybe those exchange has been down for long time and owners will not answer your claims because if they look at the current rate for sure its a lot so refunding those balances will be impossible for them to provide. For now its so hard to get what you lose for past years since you didn't even remember where you lose it.

So maybe try to move on from this since maybe your just giving yourself a big stress since for now recovering that amount is impossible to happen.

It's almost impossible and not impossible. What you can do is search on google for any crypto exchange running till 2011.  You can also take help of chatGPT for this, maybe seeing the name or url of the exchange will remind you.

But the big thing is that most of the exchanges of that time are now closed so doubt whether the exchange you are using is still active or not.  You may not be able to access the site even if you find it.  Maybe the sauce is off now.  So your search is likely to be in vain now. Still you can try

Bitstamp was founded 2011, the same year you bought your BTC.  So might try your luck on this.

It was a good try but with no results unfortunately. Thank you any way.

I remember there were several cases over the years where it was claimed that someone bought Bitcoin in those early years and the only information they had was an email and a password. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a single topic, and maybe someone else will be lucky.

What I found was this post from @RickDeckard with some interesting information :

Whether you're speaking true or not I figured out I could at least pinpoint you to websites that were around that time period and that allowed you to buy BTC (besides the well known Mt.Gox):

New Liberty Standard - Was up and running around October 2009[1]. From what I could gather the same user was the one that first proposed the symbol for BTC[2]. While the WayBackMachine shows a "Sign In" button at the main page[3] I don't think that the exchange was made in a way that you could buy BTC on demand (like Coinbase for example). According to this other archived page[4] you would have to send an e-mail stating how much BTC you wanted and then whoever was running the service would sent it to you. You don't mention this kind of system so I assume this wasn't the website you've used.
While investigating your inquiry I also found out that one of the earliest BTC transactions (5,050 BTC - sold for $5,02 at the time) was made by Martti Malmi[5] as a way to help this service get started[6] - This is what amazes me regarding BTC and it's history - whenever I have to go in these kind of "investigations" I always find fascinating details / events around them that show that the initial adopters really believed in what they were creating / doing.

Bitcoinmarket.com - Initially the idea came from dwdollar[7] at January 15th (2010) and then the website was up in March 17th of that same year[8]. WayBackMachine also shows a "Sign In" button at the main page[9] and perhaps this was the service you've used? It seems like this exchange was a bit more developed and you might be able to get your BTC there?

Sadly, if these were one of your options you won't be able to access them as the websites are now offline. Both users also seem to have been away from their accounts for a while now (NewLibertyStandard last login was at December 5th 2012 while dwdollar was at January 15th 2019).

So you're lying when you post this
Quote
In 2011 I’ve bought 100+ BTC on some cryptocurrency stock exchange and now I can not remember what was the site exactly.
When asking for the community's help and suggestions you should be as transparent as possible especially when we are talking about vital information, the first thing that you need to do is to check if your friend is telling the truth, in the first place you already know the answer to this since you admitted that you are engaged in Cryptocurrency.
You should be honest with your friend and tell him what to expect, these things really happen, because at the time we're losing Bitcoin we do not have the idea that the price will skyrocket.

100 btc is a lot of quantity nowadays and Losing it is a sad thing. I don't know how you were so careless about BTC when you bought it and why you did not save the exchange name or password with yourself. The information you provided is not enough to find your lost BTC as there are hundreds of exchanges now and checking every exchange will be a difficult choice. I did not know how to help you without any information or clue but there is one possibility according to me and maybe it will work or not, checking the Bitcoin Blockchain but don't how you can do this. Another possible way is to go to your bank and tell them the whole scenario maybe they will help and find the 2011 bank statement for you.

True, there have been many similar cases in the past. Here are a few I found that might be useful to someone:

Help "I had Free Bitcoin 2011 with registration"
Recover old Bitcoin wallet
Help regarding LOST Bitcoin....
Looking for someone who purchased bitcoin from 2011- *please respond to this"
Lost BTC? Can it be traced back thru Blockchain?

Of course, I also don't really believe that it will be possible to find these bitcoins, but just in case, I decided to ask for help from the community.

So, does your buddy even have any real evidence this 100 BTC thing is for real? Or could he just be messing with you? That is something to think about.

And even if it did happen, would it really show up on the blockchain? I kinda doubt it.  Cause if he bought the bitcoin on some exchange site, that transactions just happen internally in the exchange's system. The blockchain is only gonna record when he deposited bitcoin in or withdrew the bitcoin out  so trying to dig up some old 100 bitcoin buy is probably a dead end.

Id tell him to show you some real proof first before you go on some wild goose chase.

100bitcoins is a lot of money, why wait till now to find it? I’m sorry but the information you provided is not useful, there are a lot of exchanges ( scam or legit) you could have used in 2011. Maybe if you could tell us the name of the exchange, we may be able to help. If you still have the email, the name of the company should be in the email. Also you can write to your bank to request for your bank statements for that year. 100 bitcoins is a lot of money not to try all your options.
I think the only exchange that was operational as at 2011 was Mt Gox, which later went bankrupt. But to be honest, I find it very hard to believe the Op's story. Bitcoin didn't just explode suddenly, it started gaining momentum gradually, went through two halving and two bull seasons and the op did not realized that he had Bitcoin somewhere. Which makes me wonder where he was all this while... Was he in a cafe where there was no internet? I take it as one of those cock and bull stories we do see here.

It's been more than a century since you bought your 100BTC which is currently worth a lot. You mentioned the email name and passport number here my question is that the place from where the email is sent to you must have its own address. If you buy from a stock exchange or receive an SMS from that place, then the name of the stock exchange should be available. And it is possible to get all the statements from the bank that you have completed since the beginning if you try because the bank collects all the information of its customers. It is normal that the email may not contain purchase information. Many have already provided you with a lot of information to help you find it. The information you provided is very weak and btc recovery is almost impossible. I wish you get your btc back and keep trying.

Why are you coming up with it now when you have made the investment in 2011? It has been 12 years now and you don't even remember the exchange and what do you expect from people so in my opinion it's hard to find those coins because you must have an address also where they were stored so give some reliable information to the members if you want real help from them.
