Perhaps OP we may not really blame those that bought IPhone of 500k because we don't know what they are using it for because there are some kind of business that requires an iPhone that has a good quality camera, because if you are into content creation you will know the need to have an iPhone that has a good quality camera.

Although for me if I don't have a business that require an iPhone I don't think I can use such money to buy a phone on less I have a lot of money were it came from.

   Peer pressure is one of the reasons why a lot of people buy phones that they don't actually need. Everybody wants to use 3 cameras, without even thinking ahead of possible occurrences like the cost of maintenance and all. Getting an iPhone means having a long lasting power bank and steady internet service it also means being financially capable to make repairs when it's faulty.
   Buying iPhone isn't just about the fanciness. Nigerians should just do away with the thought of iPhone as a very essential assets, get what your pocket can afford to maintain. They all do the same work, if your business demands an iPhone, then get it but be sure to make earnings enough to foot iPhone bills when it arises.

The only time I could agree to buy such an expensive phone is when I want to use it for business or to create content that will give me money because of its high camera quality. Otherwise, I can't buy such costly phones. Some people buy these phones due to peer pressure because their other friends have them and they want to too. I would suggest that, if you do get one, utilize it to create content for social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram until you gather a significant audience and become eligible to earn from it.

I understand that some people enjoy luxurious items, which is perfectly fine if they can afford them with their hard-earned money. My concern is why some people go to great lengths to get these expensive phones solely for the sake of fitting in.

Seriously? How much is 500k if you change it to dollar? I'm not trying to undervalue our naira but in just trying to check something when you called that as a big figure. It's actually to some people but the truth is that we have lost value of our currency. Some few years ago, IPhone 6 was selling for ₦35k but today due to naira increased, it is now around ₦75k, that's almost times two of what we use to buy them.

Concerning the volume of money to buy iPhone, I think we all have what we love, there are people I know that when it come to dresses and fashion, it's zero like their fashion sense is zero but if they hear about a gadget and accessories, they can empty their saving to get it, that's how some people view iPhone. They want to have the latest update and feel what it's to have the latest updated version of new device, so don't blame them for liking what they love.

But there is this mentality Nigerians have, they think that anyone that hold a 3 eye camera iPhone automatically have money, that's a wrong perspective, it is killing the society because everyone now eager to hold iPhone to impress people that they have money but deep down, their account balance has nothing.

Despite naira has really lose value #500 naira is still a big money, in this hard economy it is very difficult for many people to raise such amount of money. We all know the amount every Nigerian worker earns as allowance,  it is only in the oil sector and politicians who can earn up to this amount as allowance. I think the amount of money use in purchasing this phone as a young person can be used to do something more better that will be more productive.  Using iPhone 15 for fancy and not using it to work to generate money is a waste and I don't think it is the best for young people to be desperate to have it.

Buying phone that are expensive is not a crime and some people are phone freak, they are ready to buy phone worth 1 or 2 million not because they want to suits themselves to the class but it gives them joy of using that phone. Same thing equivalent to some people they love buying and changing cars like no tomorrow not because they are changing it for competition but they are doing because they don't like using one car for long and needs a new ride.

Some other may take it as phone that has good camera quality so they decided to buy iphone to have good pictures. While there are others who are delibrately doing it for competitive purposes, whenever I noticed people like this I don't go close to them because they can influence you negatively and intimidates you because you don't have and when they ask for data I don't send to them because I see no reason have 1m as phone and be begging for data.

Already me and you know say iphone no dey like smartphone in any way because of the kind of functions way em get, the most important part of an iphone be say yiu no go fit do hand flashing and still e dey easy to track Incase anything happens (like if e loss).

Most content creators don't even bother to get a special camera for their video recording because their phones can perform even more functions than the camera.

For content creation, cameras are better, clearer and have better colourful videos and pictures. I am not disputing the fact that phones can be used for content creation but there are cameras that are more expensive and better.

You have said it as it should be. Personally, I'm not against buying expensive phone but what I find funny is people who do not have stable income or standard investment that generate them good money, holding millions of Naira as phone and holding same just for ego and not that it is used for anything serious. Many of those using these big phones are using same to show that they belong to their so called class. You need to see them carry these phones like a major achievement.

I like good things but I use my head. I can't be holding a phone worth a plot of land in the city when I don't have a house yet... to me that's misplaced priority.

That's very correct because I have a cousin sister who was really upset with getting an iphone and she was going crazy just to get her fingers on one but we all didn't know her purpose so I asked her one day that if I get her the phone what will she use it for ? She answered for business purpose obviously and I asked what business do you want to do that you cant do with every other smart phone but she later explained she is into make up and cosmetics and in their filled of business packaging and design is what catches the eye and attract other users.  The iphone was to give her works a certain image quality that would make it look even outstanding and attract more customer and the idea was acceptable by me because where you get your daily bread, you don't joke with it.

I don't blame those who spend a lot of money to buy an iPhone because that is not what some people are thinking. We all understand that some people are buying the iPhone just for function, whereby some are buying it because of the quality camera, and some are buying it because they see their friends using an iPhone15 and they know they will be able to use it if they buy like their friends.

You don’t like how much phones cost because you don’t have money to buy them at that price, not because you want to do business or some other things that you want to do, and they need financial support to get them done. However, the people you see with those types of phones have already acquired what you are talking about; they are very rich people; they have money to buy those types of phones 10X; they worth more than N1 billion, so for them to remove 500K is nothing for them. So just agree that you don’t like how much those phones cost because you don’t have money to buy them. There is this saying that goes another person poison is another person daily food. What you see as waste of money is what another person see as happy life and so long there is money to live that life, I don't see any problem with it.

In year 2000, when you have car and you don't have a house of your own, people see that as wrong financial plan because they think you need a roof before a car but today, things have changed. With ₦5M, you can have a a car but that amount cannot give you a good house, that has evolved and has changed people mindset. I dey your back broda, I don't see anything wrong with a person buy iPhone 15 Promax, if the person is capable of buying it that's fine, some people like an expensive thing's around them and as far the person have money I don't think I have problem with it, iPhone is a very good and smart phone that everybody will like to have it, but the main thing that I like in it most is the camera, many people who are content creator today don't stress their self by looking for a camera before doing their videos, they use the phone to do the video.
