Hello everyone, for a long time I wanted a physical bitcoin to put in my room, like a decoration, I even bought some online but I never liked their quality and I always found them very ugly, as most are made in low-quality matrices. quality. So from that I decided to make my own bitcoin made on a CNC machining center, I really liked the result, it was a unique and VERY EXCLUSIVE item, detail, I wrote the name of our forum and my nickname.

I hope you like it as much as I did, it's the way it came out of the machine, I still don't know if I'm going to have it painted or polished to make this item more beautiful.

I will post photos of the final result and below photos of the manufacturing and development. It's even cool for those who have no idea how metals are transformed to know it too!

edit: NEW PICS!

detail for my nickname and forum name

development and manufacturing carried out with SolidWorks and SolidCAM software

Now in the manufacturing process, the part was made in a ROMI D800 machining center

Very unique interest you have. What was the total cost in developing one coin ? If the final result can be improved further , you can take input from other members here and may be start a separate thread for selling these as collectibles. I would personally love to own a coin like this. Only problem is that bitcoin legal condition is yet not clear in my country and I am afraid that holding such a coin or promoting crypto here physically might land me in some legal trouble one day.

They look heavy, but the pictures of the final result make them smaller in size and dimensions.
I liked the idea. The final design is good, although it can be developed, but I think you liked the idea and I am happy that you made your own final product.

Create a low cost design service if you have access to ROMI D800 machining center at a low price.

The cost of one of these is per machine hour, it costs about 50 dollars per hour, the piece in total took about 7 to 8 hours each side. It really is a unique and very exclusive item.

Dimensions 130mm x 20mm, weight 750g, so you can make it any size you want by scaling the project

Woahh great this is a very cool collectible item buddy! Seeing clearly the physical bitcoin is quite detailed and of course this is very exclusive, the decoration in your room will be quite interesting.

To be honest I want to have a better collectible, if I buy from outside then I am heavy from the shipping costs that are so high, while I see there are online stores that I often visit but the quality is really not worth it, but it is a cheap price.

The cost of one of these is per machine hour, it costs about 50 dollars per hour, the piece in total took about 7 to 8 hours. It really is a unique and very exclusive item.
$50/hour? That means with the physical Bitcoin creation, say 8 hours * $50 means you have spent $400 for this creation.
Is this too expensive or cheap in your opinion?

Aw yeah!  Smiley

Given that the 3d model is quite complicated, I wonder, did you design the model yourself, or had someone else do it?

The cost of one of these is per machine hour, it costs about 50 dollars per hour, the piece in total took about 7 to 8 hours. It really is a unique and very exclusive item.

That makes sense. Sheet metal is not cheap, and it's usually machined in rectangles (from my experience) - but since this is truly a 3D item, I guess you needed to look hard for a place that deals with large blocks of aluminum. By the way - what are they doing when they are not manufacturing exotics like this?

Looks very cool @OP!

Now you can create your own steel plate to hold your seed phrase instead of buy it from someone (of course don't write the 12-24 words into the 3 models lol).

if I buy from outside then I am heavy from the shipping costs that are so high, while I see there are online stores that I often visit but the quality is really not worth it, but it is a cheap price.
It means you need to create it in your country, the problem is whether your country have a manufacture and accept a personal customer or not Cheesy

Awesome work here!  Very cool piece.

You might want to consider moving this post to the collectibles section - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=217.0

That board/this site is where the "birth" of the physical bitcoin came to be.  I did a little historical timeline write up for example- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5174217.0

Either way, you should post about this on the collectibles board, everyone there would really appreciate it!

To complement, it was this time for each side, total 2 sides, 16 hours.

An alternative would be 3D printing in resin. The price drops a lot

the complete manufacturing we have a total of 800 dollars on average, as I work on it, I did it myself, the cost was just my time. Due to the quality and exclusivity, I don't think it's expensive, but it's relative, it can be expensive for one person and not for another.

A 140mm cylinder was used to manufacture. We manufacture cold box molds for foundries and also parts for agricultural machinery.

I'm thinking about doing this, and engraving the seeds with a laser

the model is a coin design that is widely used. MJM MJB did this design and many have used it. this one has some changes though with adding of the forum and forum account name and the difference of text in the box on the back.

I have used the same design to 3d print similar looking rounds.

It was really beautiful and with an excellent finish. I don't think about selling this one... maybe if they pay 1 Bitcoin for it I can think about it lol  Grin Grin... thanks for commenting

Polished aluminum has a chrome appearance, an incredible look.

As the piece has a lot of details, the polishing will be complex, I'm going to try to do the same, because I'm afraid of someone damaging it.

Aw yeah!

By the way - what are they doing when they are not manufacturing exotics like this?

the model is a coin design that is widely used. MJM did this design and many have used it. this one has some changes though with adding of the forum and forum account name and the difference of text in the box on the back.

I have used the same design to 3d print similar looking rounds.

Indeed you have my friend  Wink

Very cool idea but unfortunately the use of that coin design kills it IMO.

That coin is the quintessential no coiner coin!

It's really big, but I'll explain why

the writing tool I used, its diameter is 6mm with an angle of 60 degrees and a tip radius of 0.2mm, in other words it is not big but it is not small either, as Bitcoin is extremely detailed it would not reach certain places because the entire path is based on the solid (3D model) so it respects the entire surface... To solve this we would have to place an even smaller tool, and with a smaller tool, we must necessarily reduce the cutting increments and machining feeds. which would result in much more machine time, which I didn't have available on the day. I needed the piece to be manufactured overnight. Where the equipment would have free time.

So the size that was an interesting value for money was this, diameter 130mm. the original idea was not a coin or something, it was an item to display on a table or shelf

writing tool:
