Totally agree, it is mostly easier said than done for most investors. I personally can recall the different juicy opportunities I have missed to really make it big in this space as a result of a lack of patience to HODL. Especially those early days in crypto when you barely understand the market and easily get freaked out with every FUD and market dip.
Experience is the best teacher they say and I believe the majority of us are more experienced and mature over the years of being in crypto.

its not an easy journey when you expect to make profit at a short period of hold BTC. we all have that the same experience upon holding and then thinking it will take years for to cycle another bull market while the price keeps dipping ever week.

Let me tell you my journey of like 3 years ago when I started gathering bitcoin and holding, I started working only online and without any other job because I’m a student and the only time I have is staying on my computer or phone.
In every chance I take a small some of bitcoin and send it to my private wallet. I do my best to not take out of that bitcoin until a very hard financially situation, with studying fees and expenses sometimes. I won’t say that I didn’t fail many times and had to take out some amounts but in general I’m happy with the result.

The journey is very hard, I would say it depends on the person, his job, situation, region and money management mentality. Whoever, I didn’t care about the market situation as long as I believe in bitcoin not it’s price

It can be if you stop looking at your portfolio frequently. Some of us have this bad habit of checking our wallets a few times a day. We are emotional being so when we see that our portfolio is few thousand dollars down or up we take action immediately out of fear or greed. If i am planning to hold a project for a few years then i don't care what happens to the market or the project. I will keep doing the work i am doing and let the portfolio grow. If the price is falling towards zero then let it be because i have confidence in the project and even if the price goes down like crazy for sometimes it will revert back if my analysis of the project was right.

In most cases markets will be manipulated just enough to shake off most sats of people in risky positions. Rinse and repeat, it's just like gambling. Trying to win back your losses will lead you to owning nothing.
Don't trust the charts, don't trust anyone's analysis. They all get burned in the end. It's just BTC that survives in the long run and those that hold doing nothing more earn the most.

Yep..I really don't trust altcoins anymore besides few ones and I most likely I will never be a hodler of altcoins because 90% of the times , you will lose 90% of your money just by holding. It has become worse than gambling to be honest as there you still have some luck on your side to actually win something but holding random altcoins ? for me never again. I will stick to Bitcoin and only a few trusty altcoins ( if I can call them that ) but overall , holding Bitcoin is much better than trading.

Yes it is hard, I totally agree to this with you. But with experience, it becomes easy. Some people hate the idea of holding so they never join, some people start to do it but can't keep up with it and leave, and finally those who don't give up and keep on doing it, becomes successful. You can never gain experience if you never try it.

But as you move forward, it starts to become easier. It is a bumpy road at the beginning but it eventually becomes smooth as time passes by. This also depends on your ability to build up a mindset which will help you make it smooth. In hodling, emotion place a big role and we need to have proper control over it. Also, watching the market occasionally is also a good idea. Because you need to know when is the perfect time to sell so that you can make profit.

Trading bitcoin is riskier than hodling bitcoin. The challenge with hodling is that most people who want to do short time hodling before selling later find themselves being stocked after the price drop away from their entry and this is the challenge that most hodlers face because they over hodl even when the ATH has been reached and retracement starts to occur but they feel the bull momentum will continue. It is very hard to hold Bitcoin mostly when you always look at the price of Bitcoin, it is a bit easy to invest but it is hard to hold it, but it can only take a very discipline person to invest and hold to a particular time he or she planned for.

When we talked about risky in the cryptocurrency ecosystem industry trading is the number one risky element in the industry. Hodling bitcoin is one of the smoothest investment in the world with even another businesses. When you're starting out, everything is not smooth but believe us when someone experienced how HODLING really is. They'll say that it's one of the best, effortless and profitable strategy that one can do. He can even acclaim that he's a real investor with that strategy.
I do understand why it's not smooth even if many experienced says that it is. I can attest to this and pretty sure that most of us did experience on tending to hold for long term but on the time that the market do make out some serious correction or dips then we do panic and freak out and the worst we did make some cutlosses on which it is really indeed the most common thing that do really happen on this space. If you arent that emotionally stabled then for sure you would really be committing tons of mistakes
since we are really just that humans on which we are really that emotional. No one really likes on losing money and this is why experience would really be the key for you to be able to make yourself that much stronger
and having that discipline towards your hold or portfolio. You would be finding out yourself to be that impulsive if you do lack knowledge and experience but on the time that you are having sufficient experience
then you do already have the idea on what you would gonna do.

Yes, bitcoin hodling is never easy most especially if you are still new in the market industry. You would definitely think that keeping bitcoin in your wallet is good enough, but that's not how bitcoin works. You will encounter a lot of hurdles once you decide to hold and with every market crash and price decline, you will tend to break your patience easily and lose out of control and end up panic selling. I mean just don't look at the market. I do agree it's a different experience in the early days though. I doubt a lot of people even expected the market to go above $100, let alone more than $50k really. It's more comfortable now to hodl than in the past that's for sure since the market has already shown what it's capable of and my point of entry is pretty low compared to ath so I was pretty easy going when entering since I can, at the very least (imo back then) achieve at the minimum the amount I invested.

Boredom, panic about FUD, frustration is often felt, especially by me personally, when holding (even small investment amounts). When a person buy bitcoin and crypto, when the intention of holding it through the bear market, he can do so easily buy moving the money in the cold wallet / Hardware wallet and waiting for the price to reach the all time high again. In all these years, if the price goes even more low, he can satisfy himself that well, the prices will recover and i am here for the long term and for the HODL.

The real test begins when the bull market starts and then when the prices make new all time highs. Holding is a mixed ride we all agree as there is no hassle here. Future success without trouble is only due to the power of patience, the more patience he holds, the more bitcoins he can hold. When you start trading in the market, you will have to face various types of losses along with market volatility where you may lose patience.  Because the market is not always in the same position, there are ups and downs, trading accordingly will definitely incur losses and there is a possibility of various collapses. Therefore holding is the main goal to naturally succeed and move forward in the future without facing volatility. We came into the crypto space with so much expectations. Some of us were not given the right information so we thought investing in crypto would make us rich overnight. After sometime it became clear that the sector is not a get-rich-quick scheme and like other solid forms of investment it has risks and requires patience and bravery. The journey of hodling in getting to the level of making a profit is not easy because the media is filled with news that spreads FUD. And lack of understanding of the market will make you miss uncommon opportunities to make a profit because may sell your hodling below target due to FUD.

But as one begins to understand the market, hodling becomes more easier because you have understood the basics of investment. We have to invest what we can live without and having a good emergency fund is an important advice every investor should know. Investing what you can afford to live without will make you to be patient while having emergency funds will be of help when you are faced with unpredictable problems without tampering with your investment.

1000% agree, as someone who continues to advise myself every day to always adhere to the Hodl principle, it is quite tiring but this is the journey that must be taken. Moreover, I only rely on my minimum income. Surely everyone knows how the Hodl process often clashes with needs. The struggle to become a hodler is full of challenges, not just holding back. You guys are panicking about this because you don't have the spirit of investment in you, treat it the way you buy shares/stocks and you will thank me later.

I see no reason why you claim you are HODLing and you are still in panic, that means you do not believe in the asset you are holding, you then better not buy it. If it were to be another asset, I might say you might have your reasons for the doubt, but this is cryptocurrency, especially Bitcoin, no one should just panic about this and I always view it as free money. Do you know why? It's because my journey of investment is historical and seeing the way cryptocurrency makes everything easy where I get to make money virtually every day is different from when I started investments where another asset would make it almost impossible for you to make money if care is not taken.

But Bitcoin, to be specific, is not so. All that matters is for the investor to buy it at low prices which I believe many of you would have done, so why still doubting on an asset with so many prospects? Exactly! That's how I see the presentation mentioned above. I'm good with this; if you're a long-term holder, you won't be harmed by whatever occurs in the market, as long as you have a deadline for when or how many years you'll hold it, say 5-10 years, and then you just sell it when that time comes.

There will be times when you will regret making some decisions. Hodling tests your patience, but it's the safest way for an investor to make a profit though it will take some time. If only I did sold all of my assets at that time, and then choose to buy it the following year, and then hold it until the next bull run comes. For hodling any coins or certain coins, I usually prefer to keep them in a wallet that is not related to the exchange, because the exchange is a place for me to use when I just want to trade or want to sell it when I see that the price I want for the coin I am saving has become higher. better or bigger than before. And I also think that Hodling is more effective for the long term, not for the short term which at first glance is similar to trading, especially if you keep it on the stock exchange.

I'm not sure who deserve the credit but I know I first read something like this by a thread created by 1miau about Trade vs. HODL - avoid traps which expasiate between why you should hold and not trade because of the risk involved but your subject isn't bad as well.

If there is any digital currency that is stubborn and rigid, I will say it's bitcoin because I could remember vividly just last year or 1 year ago and some days when bitcoin when to below $16k, everyone were sad and panicking that bitcoin is going to repeat 2020 blood bath and it will go to $5k but look at it now, it's been stubborn to go below $35k since last month because some fundamental news are pushing it to break $40k and when that is successfully broken, next target is going to be $50k.

You need to be extremely patient about it, the journey is bumpy and at the same time painful but there is joy you get in the end and that's the profit you make at the end of the day when you decide to sell. If you do really have plans on holding up for long term then being that active on trying out to check from time to time about market conditions will really disrupt you or most likely will really be affecting you so bad
but if you are really that someone whose really that strong when it comes to certain conditions then checking out market condition and other related stuffs wont really be that an issue but if you do see
that it do really makes your targets a little bit dwindled just because you are actively checking out the market then it would be wise that you shouldn't really be doing this in the first place.

Being a hodler myself I feel a part of the movement.
Yes, It's been rough at first, but I had the luck of entering the market during the bear market. It's a bit harder for people who start their journey in a bull market, see their funds go up, dream of all the possibilities they now have and then see themselves being chewed up and spit out in the bear market. When you buy in the bear market you often enter low and only see a loss of 10-20% which is bearable, but people who bought near the top and see 70% decline must be devastated. If you're one of those people and still held during your first bear market, congratulations, you are a real baller!

So, for me it was pretty easy. I missed the bottom but bought some coins for $400 - $600 in 2014. I had a lot of bitcoin at that time and felt euphoric when we passed 1k. I thought I was so smart, did what I was supposed to do: made 100% profit and sold... And then it went all the way to 3k in a month... So yea, not smart enough. Well, to be frank, I see that bitcoin is really proven and tested for long-term investment. I read something here on the forum that it is good to hold Bitcoin if we hold at least one or more Bitcoin, because if you make 100k$ per bitcoin, you will earn quite a lot from it.

But if it doesn't reach at least 0.1 btc, it's better to turn your capital in bitcoin to another cryptocurrency that has my potential and has the ability to go along with the rise of bitcoin, even if it's not equal to its value. Yes. For BTC supporters, Buy and Hold takes a long-term view. So, this first step is a very big step towards what I see as a growing market and At least that is why someone would stick with 1 BTC until now for easy explanation purposes of course. quite the poet right there but from my point of view, holding is all about emotion control and also going against our pessimistic nature, when im holding huge chunk i can't stop thinking about the worst scenario, its one of the reason my percentage of holding always fails, too much thinking about the worst scenario that might happen if i don't take action know for example is when the price suddenly dipping then i would always have that thinking about cutting my lose maybe i can save myself from losing too much in the future but surely such thing is a decision heavily influenced by unstable emotion.
i think the best strategy for holding is just earning and saving money, put it into certain coin that are for sure and obvious enough gonna grow, then leave it for years and thats it, no need to be mentally exhausted looking at the price chart everyday.

Totally agree, it is mostly easier said than done for most investors. I personally can recall the different juicy opportunities I have missed to really make it big in this space as a result of a lack of patience to HODL. Especially those early days in crypto when you barely understand the market and easily get freaked out with every FUD and market dip.

Holding talked about how someone has a strong mentality and is not affected by events that make Bitcoin experience price shocks. But now many people are starting to realize that Holding is one way to make big profits on bitcoin. The HODLing is not as difficult as you guys take it, it is as a matter of fact the most convenient way of making investments so long as your choice of asset is good and promising. HODLing is a serious set-and-forget plan for cryptocurrency, and it is just like what the core ardent fans of Bitcoiin are practising.

They might leave it for 5 years, or 10 years, they do not care whether it is buying or selling, they only care about their belief and trust in the coin.  Everyone is sure about their asset like that of bitcoin but they still feel distress when they see the price dumping because it is natural that people cannot bear the decline of their assets. There will be sometimes happy moments and sometimes a person mind will be totally changed because of market volatility but in such test those individuals will find victory who have patience while impatience people will not get anything instead of losing their own money.

Don't be so sure about your crypto asset, as in one of Coingeko's article they said that there are over 24k token listed on their website, and from that, more than 14k token are dead. From that 10k tokens, more than 50% are zombie tokens, which means they are listed in the exchange but no one is talking about or trading them. If this is true, then the number of guaranteed-profit projects isn't that high among the vast majority of altcoins. Though there are still a lot of projects to invest in, you need to have two experienced eye to catch them in the crowd.
