If I have all the evidence that prove that I won the bet, I will take the case to anywhere to get justice that will make me to have access to the money because what the court need if case like this come to them, they will carry out their investigation to check all the documents presented before court. And the judges will look into the case and give justice to who justice is due base on the evidence they present before the court and the guy that won the bet will gain full access to his lotto reward.

I guess something like this happened in my area some years ago, but with the help of court and other strong politicians she was able to achieved her benefits that worth $20,000 , but the case lasted for 7 years and some months before she finally got justice from the court.

The amount of money he won is enough to start living a better life. Even selling properties and sacrificing his time and work to attend the hearing/s was worth it. The amount of money he won has paid for all the sacrifices and efforts he made. Additionally, the interest he got will act as a bonus for winning.

Let's just say, subtracting all the expenses and the tax he paid for winning 12 million pesos, all expenses are around 4-5 million pesos. The remaining amount is enough to start a small business and have a house to comfortably live with.

There is no place it's written on the article I read, the amount he spent on the case. In 9 years, which isn't a transient period, pursuing a court case should cost him lots of cash. But, it shouldn't be close to his reward. It's quite disheartening to spend 9 years with the person who burnt or rumpled the bet ticket. The good thing is that the court has honored his winnings. I thought when a ticket is already destroyed, it's automatically non-acceptable, but the ruling of the court favors him but the sad part is after nine long years. What kind of justice system is that?

Talking millions in terms of local currency is really that always be worth of, not all would really be having the opportunity or having the chance on holding up such huge money.

Value is an understatement because over the 9 years he would have spent money close to the winning prize so except he goes after damages and expenses on the case against the lottery company, if he didn't succeed on that it means he only succeeded in making the headlines. However, he and more people have learnt their lessons on the reason to safeguard gambling tickets because you never know the ticket that will be declared winner. I don't think that it's not about the PCSO being unwilling to assist the winner. They have to proceed to the legal process which is where the process takes longer up to 9 years. There's a problem with the ticket, and it's hard to identify if his holding ticket is the winning ticket for the grand prize. It's a huge sum of money and they can't just easily give it to the one claiming to be the jackpot winner. If only the daughter of the winner hadn't ironed the ticket with a piece of cloth covering it, there would be no long waiting like this.

My mother used to work for a lottery house back then and I think they do have a system that records it so either the lottery teller was bad at her job or that the person behind it was just plain stupid that they've got this problem. 9 years of his life was wasted on this, I think that any sane person would just go for it because that amount money I think is still worth a lot even after all those fees for the case, and we can't forget that he was also a expatriate worker which means that he's got the money at the least in all of this, definitely worth it as you've said I live in the Philippines so I know what you are talking about in terms of cost of living and it's damn expensive especially if you are a breadwinner for the family and you don't really have a big salary for your work.

The holder of the ticket had already won all the trials but it's the PCSO who keeps appealing, that was in 3 court, RTC, COP and SC, all of them favored the holder of the ticket that wasn't honored, so that's the reason why the winnings was release. So if PCSO was willing to give, they should have not appealed after the RTC already made a decision.

It's been a long time, but it's been validated. Right, the ticket has an expiration date of 6 months; how come the duration of claiming his lottery winnings was extended?

Justice system in the Philippines is rubbish, if you are innocent and get jailed I think if the opposition is rich and hired a good lawyer then good luck you might end up suffering long long years of prison before proven innocent. Same with what had happened to the lottery winner though he accidentally altered the ticket but still 9 years is for me a very long wait though it is still worth the wait of course since the court finally recognized him as the lucky winner  for that jackpot.
