I read that the Philippine Congress conducted several hearings about this and the conclusion was that the lottery office should pay him. It seems the PCSO didn't comply to their request so the bettor was prompted to seek legal action. Actually saw this years ago from Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho (one of the best current events program in the Philippines). Anyways, for someone who never got their first million, it would be very easy to burn through that 12 million even if you take it in installments, so totally not worth having quarrels with your family members especially if it's your daughter who only tried to help you (albeit causing even more problems for you down the long run). I don't know, perhaps the reason is that he really won and should be given the winnings, and most likely that was his point of going against the lottery company and fighting them for years just to claim his prize money. So I would say it's worth, regardless of what and how angle you are going to look at it. Money is still money won.
