Unbelievable come back by India and Indian bowlers. They were able to defend one of the lowest total by India in an ICC tournament in T20 format. Rishab Panth played his own game both infront of the wicket and behind the wicket. He took some of the most difficult catches as a wicket keeper. Pakistan is now at a dead end in this World Cup and again will be dependent on calculation to move ahead.

They won the match against Canada but could not chase the target within 14 overs. This will create another issue for them later on and if India is able to defeat the USA today they will still have a chance and they will definitely need to beat Ireland. I think in the worst-case scenario they will be out of the Super 8 because of the net run rate. The team is out of form and the PCB will need to change the team and look for new talents if they want to survive in modern-day cricket.

Second Indian game and again the same opening pair. Both Kohli and Sharma were unable to make any impact. I can understand that the pitch is not a batter's paradise yet three Indian batters namely Panth, SKY and Dubey batted well.

I don't think Kohli should come as an opener, he is far better in the 3rd position. In the next match, which is against Ireland Dravid and Rohit should try Jaiswal. He has the habit to prove himself in the worst conditions and he might do it in the next match.

I doubt the team selectors ever thought that the pitch was suitable for seamers. Hardik who was struggling in IPL has been bowling very well in these conditions and so is Harshdeep, waiting for Miya to do some good damages to the opponent team.

When the Super 8 starts in the WI at that time they can do it if not in the last game. Anyway, Gill and Khan have been released from the squad and they will no longer travel with the team to WI. They were backup players and the BCCI now feels that the Indian squad will not suffer any injuries. This can be the first time when BCCI has realised backup before the tournament ended. Again this is the first time backup players are with the team. In a normal scenario if the tournament was not held in the US they would have sent a backup after an injury is reported.

So, it is official now that two subcontinent countries are out of the tournament. Srilanka was the first team; now Pakistan and Bangladesh are still in the tournament and so is Afghanistan (already in the second stage). The US after the match got canceled due to the rain has now qualified for the Super 8 which is great for a country that is playing a big ICC tournament for the first time. Pakistan going out so early was not something I was expecting but the team is messed up and PCB should now include new talents in the team keeping in mind the Champions Trophy 2025.

Update on my previous post about Gill and Avesh Khan:

Shubhman Gill was released because of disciplinary action taken by the management. It is being reported on news media outlets that he was not traveling with the team. He was busy with his personal business all the time when India was playing in the USA, the reports do suggest that Rohit was not happy with his behavior. He was the reason why Shubhman was released from the team which was quite unexpected. Recently, another piece of news was circulating that Gill has unfollowed Rohit on Instagram. Looks like Gill is following his best friend Ishant on how to become an undisciplined professional cricketer and how to make the management angry.
