Today, I was scrolling the digital goods board I found something strange. A scammer who was promising to sell 1 Bitcoin for $1000 and when I opened that thread I have found that the scammer is also running a promotion where he claimed to sell a whooping 12000 BTC for just $8000 USD.

I think that I have found the world's stupidest scammer and I believe that the ones who get scammed by this scammer will have no brain in their head. The guy says that he's selling Bitcoin at old price of $1000 and the worst thing I found is that the guy posted a promotion on 30th of November where he offered that 12000 Bitcoin for $8000.

Here's the profile of the scammer:
humerh3

I have found that some users have left negative tags on profile of that scammer but still he posted that update on 30th of November which lead me to think that do people still get scammed by such scammers? If yes then how could we better guide them to be aware of such scammers? I know that awareness and education will work but it's going to be a hard thing to educate everyone.

I don't think we can say much from that. It is possible that OP is just doing that because he doesn't care about his tags, and hopes that a newbie falls for their trick, just like I did when I was a newbie. After all, he doesn't need a lot of time to log in and post.

I think the tags are good enough to deter newbies or someone to make a deal with him. Nothing we can do further if people deliberately ignore it for some reason since it was not hidden on that board or his profile. I don't think you need to overstress yourself with your goal of educating people. I'm sure most of them will at least get curious about what the negative tag means and then search for a bit. There are tons of threads related to P2P scams too.

Even people who aren't logged into the forum will see the big banner that reads "Warning: One or more bitcointalk.org users have reported that they strongly believe that the creator of this topic is a scammer.... etc." Not much you can do for people who read that and still choose to interact with the OP.

The guy is a notorious, long-time scammer that has gone by several other names like humbertin, humberroll, etc. He appears to be a professional scammer although he certainly isn't the brightest.

Should anyone see this kind of post then the next thing to have come in mind is that it's a scam, but if you're too eager to make money through an illegitimate means, what such person will first think about is an opportunity to buy that cheap, that is the beginning of how scam is, if one btc is worth thirty eight thousands, three hundred dollars and you're seing an offer of one hundred dollars, a reasonable person should know that is purely a scam, but the moreone is greedy the vulnerable he becomes for this kind of attack.

Possible, there could still be some gullible individuals who think that this offer is once in a lifetime to they just simply can contact the scammer and bought those bitcoin at a discount.

And then once they've been scammed, for sure they will come back and bitch around here. That's usually what happens to newbies who think that they can outsmart or take advantage of this kind of opportunity without any strings attached.

This is a big and expensive lessons to learned.

No surprise coming from humerh3. He has a lot of alt accounts, most of which have been tagged before. He has this habit of selling accounts, selling fake wallets etc. If you look at the positive feedback on his trust wall, It's mostly done from his alt accounts, which are easy to identify. He even has no idea how the trust system works  Grin

Funniest I've read so far today, it seems that those people that still fall for this is definitely deserving of what's coming to them because they're gullible and they don't have the survival instinct that should've been innate in our DNA as a human being, how are you those people not able to read those warnings with the red being such a contrasting color to the color of the forum which makes it easily spotted, I don't know how they'll be able to miss that, or they're so desperate about this crypto thing and they want to get rich so quickly that they're going to bite this obvious scam.
The guy is a notorious, long-time scammer that has gone by several other names like humbertin, humberroll, etc. He appears to be a professional scammer although he certainly isn't the brightest.
I wouldn't classify that person as a professional scammer with the way that he didn't even bother to change the names that he's using to scam people and to evade the people who guards against him and his scheme, I'd say that he's more of a dumbass lazy but patient scammer because no way that anyone will take the bait of this kind of scam everyday, it might take time before even one gullible user would even take this stupid bait or maybe not at all, that's why I added the patience virtue to the way that he scams.

Even if the thread is indexed by Google I don't think he will find a buyer, this is what's the purpose of Bitcointalk's trust rating and flag creation for people to be aware of the character of the behavior, and what he is selling or offering is dubious.

And it's plain commonsense why will you sell Bitcoin for $1000 when it's worth $38k in the market?
And there's no escrow and even if he offers escrow I'm sure that whoever he will recommend is part of the scammer's team.
By creating this thread he is taking a chance since there is no cost and little effort, he is an idiot to think that he can find somebody here with all the warnings on his profile.

Whoever gets scammed by this scammer definitely deserves it, because what else can you say about someone who decides to buy 1 BTC for $1000 that is worth $30k+ on the market? Some advertise Bitcoin as magic money, but only the most naive can believe that it can produce so much magic Roll Eyes

This person is irrational and perhaps influenced by the story of Aladdin and the magic lamp. Grin He is offering a promotional offer to sell 1200 bitcoins worth $46M for $8,000.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense would avoid such illogical offers from the outset. Selling Bitcoin at a steep discount or buying Bitcoin and paying a significant amount of interest is a scam attempt to lure greedy and inexperienced people. They might see this as a golden opportunity for a limited period. How can someone gain 0.02% of the Bitcoin value by selling it for $1000? Or someone buying Bitcoin at an increase of 12% to 20% higher than its market price!

I will support this scammer's flag now, and I hope everyone follows OP's approach in exposing scammers and warning the community.

I couldn't help but shake my head at the audacity of some people. It's baffling how scammers continue to operate even though their offers are very obvious. We don't know if there are still people falling victim to these tactics, but since it has already been tagged with negative labels, all we can do is support it. It's not our fault if there are still potential prey who may not be as well-informed about these schemes. At least, we've done our part and encouraged others to do the same.

i've seen many scammers almost succeed at some point so people should not be hasty in making transactions. but that scammer does not understand how the real market works because it is usually higher in value, buyers bid for the price to go up. however, its also said scammers are getting bold.

one scammer offered to buy my telegram account by sending USDT first i almost believed it but when i tried swapping the amount, it said the tether was not real.

Speaking of flags, is it logical to assume that all those who are in opposition to that flag are actually @humerh3 alts? However, if we know that scammers always make a big net to catch as many fish as possible, that is not something we should be surprised by.

one scammer offered to buy my telegram account by sending USDT first i almost believed it but when i tried swapping the amount, it said the tether was not real.
In what blockchain it is? I think you can see it's legitimacy first based on it's coin logo/icon, and of course, with the contract address.

I once scammed before after i lent my btc to a fake coin too, that was when ICO was a hit back then. It was a huge lesson to take.

Only newbies who aren't aware of such scammers or who aren't familiar with the Bitcointalk's trust system may get scammed by such scammers but the point isn't that I mean it would be better to create a rule where such people who are known as scammers or do something that shows their scam related intentions to be banned.

I know that it doesn't make sense to ban every scammer but such people who are directly doing something like this may get a temporary or permanent ban so they might stop doing something like this. I know that such scammers can create many accounts without worries but at least the known accounts can be banned.

I also agree with you that someone who's totally out of his/her mind would trust someone who's selling Bitcoin for $1000 per Bitcoin or $8000 for 12000 Bitcoin. Ah, 12000 Bitcoin for $8000 sounds like the craziest thing that anyone can offer and that's why I believe that this scammer should get a life instead of scamming. Cheesy

Many people imagine that Bitcoin is a digital currency that can be mined on phones and computers, and a lot of false information, most of which comes from Twitter, makes them believe such fraud.
This scammer might send them an unconfirmed transaction, watch-only wallet or other scam to eventually convince them to invest $100.

Hundreds of thousands believe that it can be mined on a phone all they care about, are the satoshis that they are going to accumulate, you just have to look on Playstore to see how many Bitcoin miners are stored on that application, Pi miners claimed they have hundreds of thousands of miners this is one proof of your statement.

Scammers are very innovative, if you're investing in Bitcoin getting scammed is too high if you're ignorant, ignorant, or uneducated should have no place in Bitcoin investment, they are prey for scammers.

I can't stop laughing in Chinese here...lol, but let me assume that the "12000 BTC for just $8000 USD" was a typo error.

Because I can't imagine how brainless indeed the people who would fall for this could be if truly they did fall for it. That could be due to greed or lack of knowledge about Bitcoin. This is why it's often preached that you do not just venture into what you don't know, because if anyone knows the true price of Bitcoin, then such would know that 12,000 BTC should be running to about $523M at the moment. That's insane.

And for greed, people like the high-yield packages and have ruined lots of them. Still, don't be surprised that some people will fall for this trap, you never can tell how gullible some are.

Don't be surprised that people will definitely fall for it, we should know that some are just there tht they can go low that stupid to bend rules and protocols all because they wanted to get in some offers, they don't even want to care or think about how being genuine such could be, all they were after is what they want to be achieved, this kind of people are the ones that easily got scammed through deceptive and flashy offers that are not real.

Even people who aren't logged into the forum will see the big banner that reads "Warning: One or more bitcointalk.org users have reported that they strongly believe that the creator of this topic is a scammer.... etc." Not much you can do for people who read that and still choose to interact with the OP.
As much as I do think too that there's nothing we can do to those people that still chose to get scammed by this or rather take chance that this is the real deal, I still feel bad that they're that desperate about finding ways to get ahead in the crypto landscape, I guess when you let the money blind you, you let anyone that offers you a too good to be true of a deal get a chance to scam you and step all over you at the end.
The guy is a notorious, long-time scammer that has gone by several other names like humbertin, humberroll, etc. He appears to be a professional scammer although he certainly isn't the brightest.
Why would you say a professional scammer but then say he's not the brightest? Cheesy That's an irony if I've seen one, so technically this person is a professional dummy then? I just hope that this scammer finally find remorse and hopefully find the strength to make an honest living.

BIG WINNER!
