A friend of mine collected $10 from me earlier yesterday and I wanted to use the money to gamble, but based on, he is my friend. I gave him the $10 he asked for, and the guy said he would return the $10 back ASAP after 3 hours, but he didn't and the $10 was the amount and same money I wanted to use and stake a bet (I have some coins but don't have cash and I don't want to sell any penny of my coins for any reason). But letter on, I used 1000 naira ($1) to stake the bet and I won 49,814 naira (about $50+).

Now I am angry at my friend because he didn't keep to his words. Although I am still happy about the win, I wish he had given me back the $10. Then, I would have win bigger money.

It's all fun when you win but get angry or sad when you lose the ticket. You should never feel sad or regret that you bet smaller amount, it's normal thing and I think as a good management in risk, you have done the best thing any other gambler would have done. If you have put more money on the that game you just played, that's when you end up losing the game, you didn't expect it that's why it even came, the ones you put much expectations usually end up badly.

The game you even selected are very much okay to put good amount(amount depend what you can afford to lose), lower multiplier should have attracted high amount so that you can win something big but in this your game, staking high was what you should have done but nevertheless, it's not bad because you bet with what you have in that moment and you shouldn't never regret about it.

Does this have something to do with addiction? Someone wished to stake some amount of money on gambling, and a friend later borrowed the money and promised to return it in some hours, which the friend failed to do, and he later staked a little amount of money. It's just something that is normal, and it happens to gamblers who win often come lucky; you won’t expect it. However, the OP wan acted to use the money to stake, not that he has adduced to gambling but just a wish.
 
Although I understand where you are thinking, you are thinking that if he uses such an amount to gamble and wins, he will continue doing something similar to that that may lead to addiction. You are quite right, but you know that is not how everybody views gambling. Addiction comes from how you view gambling. Most people who view gambling as a source of income are the ones who are getting addicted to gambling.

Congratulations on your wins. You might not have won much but at least you got some money from the bet. You would have been happy that he didn't pay back the money when due if you had lost the bet because he would have saved you from losing more. Sometimes disappointment could be a blessing or have adverse consequences but in your case, it deprived you of a bigger win. But you still have to be proud of yourself because you are a good friend who can assist when one is in need.

Sometimes we just have to accept things the way they are. If you were so sure about the game and the money you have in your hand was not enough, you could have either looked for alternatives to make your wager amount high or, when your friend returns the money, you can replace it back (that one can't be regarded as borrowing because you already have the money somewhere).

Gambling cannot be predicted, hence I don't think OP was sure that he would win the game. Do you expect OP to go and take a loan or credit to cover up the deficit of what he has? What if his friend didn't return the money? He made the right decision by gambling with the money that was available because he could lose the game and become a debtor.

When something like that happens, just think that you were not destined to win more than that which is the reason why your friend didn't return the money on time. Never regret things that didn't happen or you lost something because of another event not happening on time because it's all about our luck and destiny, and even if that thing had happened, we would still have the same outcome somehow. So, always remember to be happy with what you get and don't regret such things.

There are a lot of things in life that we either do or don't do but then we regret doing or not doing them, but what I've learned is that if we just accept what has happened instead of regretting or feeling bad or getting angry, we will have a more positive life and it will be easier for us to move on.

OP, I understand how you been because you win would have been x10 of that amount which is a big win to me because I don't normally have big wins, because I gamble with little amount and I also go for small odds. I think you got really lucky and made about 5000% profit. Does it really matter what you could or could not have won? If you think about it, anything is possible. You could win hundreds of millions as long as you have the right lottery ticket. But there is no sense in kicking yourself for not having the right numbers.

If anything, I think that you should know when to quit.

That is why whenever I gamble, I adhere to my own self-made rules on gambling. I put in daily limits for losses and wins and I do not go over those limits.

The thing is we never can tell the future, so there was no way for you to know that lending money to your friend and not using the money to gamble will reduce the money you would have won. Your friend also could not pay back or go along with his side of things, so it is something for you to learn that you should never trust him again with money. One very bad character that people in need may have is to be heavily self-centered at the time when they are making demands. They will say anything just to make sure you give them including promising to pay back when they cannot. Avoid people like that.

I understand how it feels when you have planned how much you are to bet on certain games and something unexpected happens that makes you not bet on the games as you have planned.

On second thought, have you thought about a situation where your friend returned the borrowed money as promised and you used the $10 to bet on the games you have at heart and you lost to it? What will you then do? To regret ever betting with the $10, instead of a smaller amount like $1.

I've come to realize that after every bet has been decided, there's always a feeling of regret afterwards no matter the turn the game takes. Well, shit situations do really happen and it is really indeed that you might have won 500 bucks if you have just that able to bet that $10 on where your friend borrowed but since we know that everything cant really be predicted then just be grateful that you have been able to win up $50 rather than on having nothing at all but well if you have been able to bet bigger then it could really make you think that you should have bet a bigger amount but since we are talking about gambling then it wouldnt really be something that can be known. So the amount that you have won then this is something that you could really be able to make bets

He must know that there is no guarantee of winning every bet, even if you are a sports betting analyst or you can predict victory in slot gambling, even though you have won, you must know that luck is still on his side. However, he should anticipate not making the same bet in the future, because luck does not always come and if he loses the bet, he may be disappointed with his decision to place a high bet on an unpredictable gamble.

It's a bit funny what you said, especially regarding lending and borrowing. I want to ask, if your friend returns it on time will you still win your multibet bet. with the scenario, you have prepared the multibet betting options that you will do. or, you start the multibet option with the money you have. these are two different issues, because we can look at them from many points of view. the point, as you claim. If your friend returns it to you correctly, you can win big with your multibet bet. or it could be that you will choose another bet. in a sense, your choices change.

To be sure, I don't know for sure how and what happened. But what is clear is that you won the victory you deserved to win. There are no other words, if that's what you should get, you can't completely blame your friend. after all, you gave it to him yourself, because he is a friend of yours. They would be always having the behavior on trying to look on much better side which it isnt bad on some things but for gambling then this what makes you desperate and this is bad.Instead on trying to look into those bigger winnings then it would be that better that you should be thankful or grateful that you do able to win up and basing with that $1 to $50 then this isnt something a win or odds that you could easily be able to hit up

Always be very careful when lending money to your friends as this can often cause problems between the two of you, in the few cases I have lent money to my friends I always ask why they need the money and when I am getting paid, however even then I still consider the money I lend them as lost and I do not expect it to get it back, and if that is indeed what happens I never lend anything to them, however it needs to be mentioned you also have some responsibility here, as even if those 10 dollars were supposed to be gambled away, this was money you could not spare as you have already determined how you were going to use it.

If I'm not mistaken, the OP's current winning was what? $50+, if the friend had kept to his word, the winning would have been over $500 dollars, clearly you'd be feeling exactly the same way OP, and at that point you'd be busy blaming him and not even think about forgiveness or pardon his debt.
