This thread does not belong in the Bitcoin Discussion. It should be either in service discussion or in meta or reputation. Service discussion is the best section to discuss any specific service. In this case, it's mixers!

Considering that mixers and casinos seem to be the biggest advertisers here, I foresee a drop in revenue for the forum. What do you think?
Forum admins or the forum does not make money from these campaigns. It's the forum members who make some money from their signature campaign. Some members may leave the forum, some others may become less active. But the forum will remain the same.

What I think is that the government is not in charge of Bitcoin and the coin continues to maintain its decentralization which nothing will stop. Think about it, did the government sanction Bitcoin? Heck No, because there is no reason to do it, and even if they try, they would fail judging by the structure of the coin itself.

But I support the government against most m!xers, they shouldn't fold their arms and let illicit flows happen all over in the name of Bitcoin. Even Satoshi will never want that.

Besides, this forum is associated with Bitcoin, not m!xers, I wonder how you make them relate this much. And saying bye-bye to m!xers here still amounts to nothing by the two parties as the m!xers would take their adverts elsewhere and we will be free from allegations of promoting illegality. M!xers can't be illegal entirely but this doesn't stop the fact that some are using it for illegality. To make matters worse, it's more difficult for the government to solve the illegal puzzles in crypto compared to the fiat practices.

BTCt can't continue to let itself be dragged with those who are only in for the money and not for the core value of what Bitcoin and this forum represent. They may cry foul (even the users here) but let the sanctity prevail as much as it can. Everybody can't just be allowed to do whatever they like.

"The Sanction On Mixers Would Make This Forum Boring" - bitcointalk was created for communication between BTC-like-minded people, and not for advertising mixers. Do you somehow imagine the purpose of this forum differently or has thi forum really changed so much that it is associated only with a place for making money on signatures (mixer campaign's). Even if something like this happens that the forum becomes boring (according to your version), then there will still be people here who want to discuss issues related to the bitcoin and a certain level of activity will be maintained.

If some advertisers leave, others will come. This is far from the worst thing. Even if there are no advertisers at all, the forum administration must have reserves (donations, etc.) to keep the forum in working order.

There will be no advertisement, signature campaigns from Mixers since January 2024 but theymos will allow forum members to discuss about mixers.

You will need to have data from the past to see how signature campaigns in Bitcointalk were run by different companies and how many of them are from mixers. Mixers were more seriously with signature campaigns after ChipMixer, a biggest mixer in latest years, were seized in March 2023.

Now, I will help you to have an overview with past data.
  • I take some screenshot from 2014 to 2019, for latest years, you can explore it by yourself with this link https://web.archive.org/web/20190701000000*/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0
  • The forum had less campaigns in 2019, in a bear market and if you compare 2019 to years like 2021, 2022 or 2023, you will see we have a good increase of campaigns. The forum has yet died and in fact, it does not depend on mixers for traffics or signature campaigns.

Not entirely boring, but we can expect some downturn on the traffic.

Revenue for the participants, the forum didn't get anything from any project except they volunteering make a donation to theymos or forum's address. Remember, theymos also stopped the forum ads since a year ago, if the forum needs money he wouldn't stop the forum ads in the first place.

Why, what do you think will be the benefits of the admin of this forum? What I know is that the ones who benefit the most from this are the community members here in the forum who have a fluent rank from full member to legendary position, not the admin, actually.

Because the project campaigns in the bounty section or signature camaign in the service section are not the admin who benefits there. But the majority member who is qualified in the rank required for each bounties or signature campaign. And if that is banned, that is the rights of the admin and we as one of the community members have nothing else to do but to follow the rules that will be good for this platform.

They are just not allowed but the users will still be here. The mixers will be moving on to other forums as we have seen recently they have already started on Altcoinstalks. There could be division but I think the goal of BTC will still be the same and adoption is taking place, the bargain I think is the ETF approval.

I do believe such new decision of removing mixers is to shed off any excess weight hindering the approval of the ETF. Bitcoin wants to thrive and it is doing everything to disassociate itselft from programs and apps that make it labelled as one of the crypto currencies enabling money laundering and other criminals to fulfil their payments.

The forum will be boring somehow because I think that many of those who have shown interest here were earning from signature campaigns owned by some of these banned mixers on the forum. Hence why they stayed. With this new development, there will still be campaigns running but it would be for those not talking or aiding the use of mixers.

there will definitely be some changes but i don’t think this will make the forum disappear this forum has been here a long time and has offered and is still offering different kinds of services in relation to crypto not only gambling

I do believe such new decision of removing mixers is to shed off any excess weight hindering the approval of the ETF. Bitcoin wants to thrive and it is doing everything to disassociate itselft from programs and apps that make it labelled as one of the crypto currencies enabling money laundering and other criminals to fulfil their payments.

if anything this might even invite more users into the forum with the price of btc increasing, there’s a chance that the general public might take a look at btc and forum by extension

Yeah, with the absence of the mixers campaigns here in the forum, spot betting campaigns will be over crowded and more challenging to secure a spot as the number of participants will increase.
Some members will probably move on to better opportunities, I mean the time to change financial status is fast approaching, an opportunity to retire as an sig campaign hunter  Grin

And as for what will happen to btc, I think the worst the government can do is to go after centralized platforms, exchanges to try and exercise some level of control on btc users but they can not do anything directly to btc as a technology because of its decentralized nature.

What do you think?

Make this forum boring? I doubt that, Mixer is not that popular topic compared to Bitcoin technicality and price discussion. Signature campaign is what makes it popular here. I’m in the forum for a long time with mixers existing but not many users talks about it too frequent compared to price discussion.

I just read the post by the admin stating that mixers will be banned on the forum from January 1. Considering that mixers and casinos seem to be the biggest advertisers here, I foresee a drop in revenue for the forum. The way I see it, it implies that the government is still in charge of the direction Bitcoin moves. If they cannot control Bitcoin, they can move against the appurtenances of the cryptocurrency: mixers, exchanges, who knows... even this forum, etc. With the popularity of the USD dwindling, who knows what else could happen to Bitcoin, the challenger? What do you think?

You joined the forum way back in 2019 yet you don't know what you are talking about, your thread looks as if you have not been here the whole time or are you one of the participants that enjoy high signature payment and are probably sad because of the ban? I don't think the forum will ever be boring but the ban will limit some discussion which will look like censorship and that is what the government want us to do with bitcoin.

I was here when Chipmixer took over the forum with their ads signature and I think they had more than 30 participants in that campaign, during there time no other competitor in this forum, many that tried ended as a scam, the adverts was nice and going until FBI comes in with their investigation. It was only Casinos and Chipmixer that were doing the forum and everyone loved it but since the absence of Chipmixers, other mixers came into the forum and they have competing to take over the forum and dominate the forum with high pay but you think that will make the forum to be boring? Come on man.

The mixers have become an object of investigation and this will hurt the forum if it continues, you don't want to see the Bitcointalk host file removed from the server because you want high pay, don't you? It's better they eradicate anything that will harm the forum before they come for the forum and the staff, I don't want to hear Theymos house has been raided in the US.

What do you think?

Make this forum boring? I doubt that, Mixer is not that popular topic

i dont think he is on about the lack of mixer topic discussions... but imagine a world without the trolls who only post garbage just to get their post count up for their sig-campaign earnings. imagine less junk posts

but then again
i expect theymos already has a business plan to clean out the dead wood sig spammers of mixers, so he can then cleanly incorporate some more institutional advertisers to offer next gen trolls sig campaign spam earnings

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

You are right but to some extent only, because banning mixers is not the government's decision as authorities did not ask theymos to ban mixer advertisements as if it will be continued then theymos might not left with other choice but to ban the forum, so it was better to make this bold decision. Secondly, these advertisements are not generating any revenue for the forum admins AFAIK. Maybe indirect they maybe but I saw something where these campaigns are generating direct revenue for these admins.

Maybe those who might be earning via these campaigns must be giving donations to this forum, but admins don't ask these platforms to pay fees like the other forums ask.

And there is no doubt that governments have full influence on the crypto sphere whether you are talking about this forum or any other token. Even in the past China had the biggest impact on BTC prices but now that position has been taken by the USA. Whenever the US government makes any decisions in favor of BTC the price goes up and vice versa.

It is not about the lack of content, there will be always people to bring curious stuff around here for all of us to discuss and talk about respectfully, as Bitcoin grows, it will be just matter of time before more people discover this place start to participate, specially when the market is trending positively.
Though, the posibility of less traffick because a decrease in the signature campaigns is possible. Mixers and centralized privacy enhancers were never a hard core discussion for people around here, as someone already mentioned, the behavior of the price and the technological advance ocuppies much of the discussion about Bitcoin, in my opinion.
I do not have statistical data though, it is about my intuition.

Op you are talking as if the purpose of creation of this forum was to be a making money platform which is not,  rather to pass information and educate people about the purpose of Bitcoin. Though some people come here with different reasons from the main target of this platform, However, it would only be boring for those that are here just because of the signature campaign, besides the Bitcoin mixers are not the only company that advertise in this platform if we judge it from your angle, though we have majority of them advertising here.

The Sanction On Mixers Would Make This Forum Boring

Funny enough, your account has been created since 2019, but you have not been very active on the forum. You only made nine posts in the month you created this account, and that was in 2019. In the month of February 2020, you only made 3 posts, while in April of the same year (2020), you made only 1 post.

In 2021, you only did two posts, while in 2022, you did 16 posts. Through out this year, you have  not made up to 10 post. How then did you come up with your prediction?

OP, you have been rarely active on the forum; how then can you tell how bored or active the forum has been in your absence?

When I came to the forum last October, the only mixer campaign I met here was Chip Mixer; the rest was all casino. Rollbit, roobit, dulbit, stake, betcoin, and others were the casino campaigns I met here, and back then, the forum remained very active. Bitcoin mixer campaigns became very popular on this forum just this year; it wasn't so last year. Now that they are leaving, do you actually think it will make the forum bored?

The forum will not be bored; it's only mixers promotion that is banned, not members who are quality contributors to forum discussions.

The mixer campaigns that were managed on this forum did not pay any fee to Theymos; their contract was managed by the campaign managers, who contracted and coordinated forum members to promote the mixer service on their individual signature spaces. Or do you intend to say that the absence of the mixer campaign will drop revenue for members who relied only on the signature campaign?

Signature campaign opportunities might be reduced because of the ban on mixers but the forum will not be boring because the forum was not designed for just mixer discussions. Before now we had just a few mixer campaigns and the forum was still educational and active. When one door closes, another one will open. Nobody ever expected that Mixers would one day compete with casinos in this forum. The Bitcoin industry is multidimensional, I won't be surprised by an increase in campaigns that advertise other services such as exchanges, Bitcoin custody services, etc. Maybe we might see campaigns promoting, BlackRock, Invesco, and ARK Investments, who knows?  Grin

Some members of this forum consistently read information from this platform but rarely make comments. Posting on the forum is a valid means of determining an active member but it shouldn't be a standard because there are exceptions. OP might be in the category of people who follow the activities on the forum but don't make comments regularly. These are my personal views anyway.
