I think discipline in theory is far from the reality of experience, and most of us gamble without any limits. Whether it's professional players or people looking for relaxation, I don't believe time management is the basis, I think gamblers will also have their own views on the approach. Well, OP's point of view is OK, but discipline comes with experience. It's hard to be "young & free" and follow the rules and have some control at the same time. I agree with what you said, you can avoid getting addicted to gambling even more if you do this and you will lose less money. As for me, all I do is gamble once a week and when my budget is used up, I will stop right there, and when I win quite a bit, I will also stop. My playing depends on the budget I have set whether it will run out or if I will win. It's also okay what you said not to spend too much time on gambling because apart from the small amount of money you will waste, a large % that you won't be addicted to gambling is true.

Loss chasing has been one the biggest problems gamblers encounter,  it makes a gambler start thinking irrationally, because at the very point what the gambler would be thinking of is just to recover his losses,  and the more he keeps going the more higher he stakes. I've fallen victim to this trap before,. I'm not an addict but this happens to be one of the major problems I encounter when gambling, but I'm working on it and mine isn't that bad anymore.

Chasing losses would really be the main issue on here on which you would really be finding out yourself into the verge of this kind of behavior on the time that you are really that having some losing momentum or condition when you do play gambling and this is something inevitable. Everything would really be just varying on how someone would really be that having that kind of control towards themselves because if someone doesnt have that control then they would really be finding it to be that a huge problem later on if they cant really be able to handle up themselves. I highly agree, I have a good experience with this.  The longer we stay in one game, the longer our deadspin will be.  It is really better to limit our gameplay and if one can't, it is better to spend it on different games than just one game alone.

Still I would say @OP's suggestion is one of the best to control our urge to gamble.  Moderating our gameplay is one of the better approaches to limit gambling addiction.

Depends on the bet size you use since if you use larger amount for bets then provably you will just end up losing all your gains. But if you are betting the minimum bets then you can extent your time and enjoy gambling with the amount you set which you can afford to lose. Its all matter with discipline what gamblers have if they don't want to lose a lot of money in gambling. But somehow short time gambling strategy might really work for some gambler since for that they can minimize the risk for the bad luck to come since they can decide to quit immediately when good things already happening in their bets in short period of time.

I completely agree with the first and second options, but for the first option, limiting the time for gambling, it is possible that an addict will still break his own rules because we all know addicts are the most difficult people to stop gambling and limiting time is not an easy way because it requires a different mindset being strong enough to resist the urge to immediately stop when the time has come and the situation sometimes puts pressure on an addict, it is difficult to stop when the time is almost up, luck comes to give him immediate victory, his mind becomes greedy, ignoring the time limit and will continue to bet to fulfill his greed.

I also agree, and as for the time issue the reason is that I can only gamble on weekends and that is if I want to because other than weekends I am so busy working that I don't have time to gamble. And after I get home from work I am busy with my family and my little side job, so that on weekends I can gamble in good condition overall, and also by always limiting the time and capital I have for gambling.
Except for betting on football, because I can do it at any time because it doesn't take long, especially on favorite team matches and also exciting matches that I think have a chance of winning.

I think that's obvious though as we all know that the odds are very much against us in gambling. But here's the catch though, there are cases that once you play either online or land base casinos, you suddenly win big because you go lucky. So it's going to be a dilemma for most gamblers, whether to continue or stretch their luck or stop and withdraw but there's not much excitement because you play for short amount of time.

So for me, this happened many times before, and there are times that I will just quit and not continue anymore.

I agree that spending so much time could lead to betting above your budget. And it is meaningless to spend so much time on gambling when it can be used to engage in more fruitful activities. I suggest that as you plan for how much you will spend on gambling, it is also advisable to also have time limits. This is important because time is a great asset that could be maximised or misused. Most of the gamblers who give gambling a bad reputation in my location are those who spend the majority of their productive time in physical gambling shops. Some of them go to these casinos in the morning and stay there till evening. I also agree with what OP said that spending a lot of time on gambling could lead to gambling addiction.
