This thread is dedicated to my fellow newbies and to whom else (other ranks) it may concern.
I have been hovering over several boards in the forum not because I just want to jingle around but because most times if I am not inspired with meaningful contributions to the forum, I would just have to read in-between lines across different boards with the aim of learning how my superior members undernotes (constructs) their posts of qualitatives.
Hence, we the newbies tends to grow and meets up to some certain heights and that can only be achieved if we could make constrictive and meaningful and quality posts in other to earn Merits.
Formally I thought earning merits is such as making one of the long (lengthy) posts which could attract the Merit source person's but just a few moments ago, i came across one of the ranked legendary @Charles-Tim very brief post reply which earned 3 merits at my time of views.
It was questionable to me on how could that be? Then I figured out that the post was merited because is has a solution to the thread on discuss https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5476902.msg63284065#msg63284065.

Here I am to say it is not most about how lengthy or numerous times you contributes to the forum that earns you merits but what you offers to profer solutions and the level of qualities of how constructive your posts are.

True but Somethings here is not highly needed which is the level of qualities of how constructive your posts are, even Charles-Tim usually state that he don't really bother about this part. As long as everyone can understand what you are passing then it's good, when forum members advise about making constructive posts this is what they mean in a nutshell. One thing to focus, is your post shouldn't be congested but offer readability to all.

First of all, a newbie should be less concerned about merits, what they should first concentrate on is the way they could get used to the forum and bitcoin, learning is their first priority, then they also need to understand every reason behind what had been given to them to obey, so earnings rewards shouldn't be a newbie mind set, but giving quality contributions to the community with wether the rewards coming or not, the people will decided on wether to merit or not base on how they were touched or moved by the post.

I think the whole essence of the merit system is basically to encourage people to pass relevant and valuable information that will be of help to the forum and it has little or nothing to do with the length of your post.

If you can write a 2-line  post that is of help to members of the forum, it's better and will even yield you more merit compared to trying to make your post bulky all because you want people to perceive that youre saying anything meaningful.

No be everybody get time to de read your plenty grammar so if you have a contribution to make, do so in the most simple and straight forward way.

If you're good at analysing post that gets the highest number of merit, you will find out that it's more of what value it has added to the forum and it jas nothing to do with how length or short it is.

I am also a newbie that just registered on this forum few months back but I have learn that many post aren't rewarded my merits just because of the long lengths or short lengths but just with constructive and meaningful things of the post it can be rewarded with some merits.
But I have come to see that not every constructive post that have merits too, why because what my be okay with first person will not be okay with another person.
On this post, I was given enough merits not because of what I said but because of the details I provided (that's what I thought).

If you make a long post without passing any information that’s of use to the forum or the members, I  am sure you will hardly receive merit from a post like that. Don’t be surprised if a post of maybe 20 lines( just an example) doesn’t receive any merit, and a post of 1 line might end up receiving lots of merits. It’s not about the post length, it’s about the quality of the information you are passing and how useful your post is to the forum and the forum members. Don’t think you can use post length to deceive people, or you think they will just read the title of your post and merit you, most of them are always taking their time to read everything, and if they notice it’s useless, then no merit for you.

Op you have spoken well, na all this kind of advice I dey like make person wey don see road shoe others, because this na one the best idea wey I don see say newbie carry come board so, some persons dey feel like say na post be the main thing, Dem no no say e get wattin you go do to make your post get good quality, Dem say writing itself na skill, do we gats learn am and the easiest way wey we fit take learn na to read other good quality and constructive posts wey our baba dem write. So long as you dey this forum and you like grow, reading no be wattin you supposed to carry play, because na em go make your writing look professional. I remember when I join this forum new, I dey fit read threads wey get more than two pages, every single comment wey dey inside. And this practice really help me from both small and great ranked members, because some times no be every good quality post Dem dey merit, naim make I dey say even the merit system na God hand e dey, if em touch the merit person to send you merit good for you.

I no go lie you, some times Dem dey give merit based on your reputation, for example if Theymos come caugh for here, you go see say merit go full ground, even if na hello e write.

 There are posts or threads which are very much lengthy, but are the last word in quality, its not about the size, but the contents. You can pass across very meaningful information in just few lines, so concentrate on the value you add to the community from your posts and I think the forum will still get as much value from it as possible

Ah no really go through this topic before I make post wey wan they similar to this one. Make we forget say we they for the forum here. Outside of here, imagine say you they gathering or among people and una they get discussion. Nah only people wey make better contribution wey con make the discussion more engaging nah him they dey give listening ears. A nd if they wan reward nah those people they go reward.

Now nah the same thing applies for the forum. Only post and replies wey they engaging and wey done contribute well go fit they rewarded with either merit or otherwise. E no they only applicable to newbies only even people wey get higher rank need to they reminded because they dey forget themselves sometimes

Yunno, sometimes it does not matter how long or short your post is, it is the kind of substance contained in it, that is only when merit can be given. Believe me, a few correct and well constructed sentence can earn a person much merit than a lengthy one as the post may lacks substance. The merit system is there to help gear up our style of posting, what we post and how useful it becomes after posting, so it should not be a matter of creating many post thread just to earn merits, make sure your post are always constructed carefully, then you can earn good merit if that is what you want.

When I started this journey, I had the mindset that trying to impress the older guys was gonna fetch me merits but the more I tried doing that the more I got frustrated. How can you impress experts in Bitcoin tech in the same subject? How do you impress people who have been in mining business for years on the same topic when you should be learning from them? It is truly frustrating trying to impress people in order to be rewarded with merits.

The moment I realized my mistake of trying to impress people, I decided to stop and appreciate my position which was newbie then. I became more of a learner, asking relevant questions and engaging in discussions as freely and naturally as I could be. I reinvented my originality and that was when the merit started coming effortlessly. I simply stopped posting for the sake of earning merit but because I want to be part of discussion in various sections of the forum.

Op some merits sources don't merit long threads or comment but very concise and precise posts are the ones they are meriting and I know one merit source him no dey merit any post wey get image and even though him don merit sef na just small. But normally him no dey merit any post wey him see image. Him even tok am out say him no like am. And those users wey think say writing lengthy post will fetch them merits na like but thread wey contribute to di forum dey get merits well well and di ones wey answer a question too.

But those short threads wey dey get merits well well na for the technical boards or wallet board. But if you dey write general boards eh make you length am so dat at least one merit go come.

This is really a good  point bro most people nor really know that one sha sometimes I go just see some long post like this after I don suffer read am I go see Shey e nor impact anything to me at all. But e go just long anyhiw while some I go see some post nor go just reach like five lines the information make e contain pass five lines oh. Those kind post nah they sweet pass but e still get some long posts that worth the length. Wetting just got to do nah to find your way to contribute you don't need to copy anyone.
