Let us be sincere with ourselves. Is there any use of the threads translated in Pidgin than to earn merit? I found those translated posts not useful because we all Nigerians on this forum understand English. We can read and post in English because we were taught in English in school right from basic schools to tertiary schools. There is nothing like Pidgin in school.

I can point out topics that this board is of use to us Nigerians if need be. There are some discussions that are pertaining to Nigeria and just Nigeria. There are some discussions on the English board that we can make more visible on the local board. There are some bitcoin and crypto discussions that is about Nigeria.

This is quite  true , most of us  ( 90%) among others understands English even if its not fluent we aren't speaking it though , although it  might not be accurate while expressing them in words just as the owners.  However, I found  the use if pidgin much more useful in the aspect of sensitive  stuff in which we don't want majority to quickly understood our statement,  it could be very useful though as most of our pidgin could be translated sometimes with  patience and careful reading of pidgin contents.  

Nigeria is a different ethnic country itself, so if we are to speak our native languages  o guess we will have to divide  the board into group and sub groups  as the major language still have sub languages  .  Nevertheless, I guess the pidgin is almost understood by individuals and its more of a scattered English   so we could twist some Content we feel like we don't want someone who is just glancering through our posts to understand  quickly , I guess I'm a fan of chipping in pidgin at some areas of my content but English  is more satisfactory

Omoor the reason for the local board nah to make it be say certain things we get to discuss make the oyinbo man no understand and no com the know wetin we the tok as a local communiti. Our pidgin no be to use am please any oyinbo man at all, if anybody chose to use am pls oyinbo man that one nah him own choice. It doesn't really matter, your English doesn't have to be impeccable, even when you are communicating in the English sections of the forum, the thing is, whatever you say should be understandable, and it is quite easy to do that; you don't have to worry about the syntax, just covey your message in a way that everyone would understand.

Having said that, i don't have a problem communicating in the two accepted languages in this local board (English and Pidgin), right now i am using English, another time it is pidgin, it basically depends on my mood and what i want to say. I think we've had enough discussions on the language of use in this our local board, let's move on.

I no go lie you, wattin you Yan about our pidgin language na tru, because even me sef dey guilty of am, I believe say my pidgin dey very easy for externals Dem to read and I don still try to make am look very hard but, na wattin dey come out for my mouth naim still dey come out from my hands, so that dey very difficult for me to change, and if I say make I start to dey use dip pidgin slangs I no sure say even 10% of naija go understand me clearly, based on where I stay for warri , our pidgin too get many words to just express one thing, so e fit dey hard for others to understand. Na as I see notification for this thread mentioning me I come go back to that pm I received from you some time back,  come see say na the same member be this,  any ways,  the issues of either to write in Pidgin or English have been settled long ago even before we get our local board,  so I dey try to avoid any discussion were go carry us go back and forth,  but then on the issue of either person pigin bam or not,  e come be say we no fits talk because pigin no too get uniformity,  because like person were grow for street,  him pigin go dey different from that of market women,  so if you ask me,  next time,  if it not mandatory to inform the original thread owners that you want to translate into pigin,  you no need to pm them,  but all that you need to do is to put in the effort to create something out of the ordinary and give us something new and unique to read,  that we're,  the quality of the content will stand you out from others.

I no blame Loycev for discouraging you from translating his thread,  his decision may have been born out of many past experiences with many of other Naija local bord members who had translated his threads before,  who have followed almost similar pattern of writing which make their work look like copy of each other works,  and that is what many Nigerians are doing,  once they see one person do a new pattern and it got attentions,  everyone will jump on that pattern just to grab whatever reward that os available,  but if you put in extra efforts you will always stand out.

So based on the thread,  if there is no law that mandates you to seek the original thread owner of your intention to translate the thread, you can go ahead with your translation and let see what you have to offer based on your claim of bringing in a pour pidgin version here,  and I can see that from the way you write in this thread.

Basically eh, this our local board na of two language the English and pidgin anyone wey u choose to use e no concern anybody as e go dey very possible to read and understand base on say all of us here go school even if some no forward their education and to understand the pidgin we get am inbuilt as Nigerians.

I think say na only me notice this matter. I dey always check for other country local board dey see wetting them dey do, and I dey dey impressed because you no go see any English language there. Except say you use translator. But we 9ja we go dey struggle to dey speak gramer like say we dey do grammar competition. So make we dey try to dey embrace our 9ja pidgin English. since e be say we no get general language like china and India but the pidgin wey we dey speak we dey understand ourselves, so make we try.

The reason I see many people dey like speak pure English na because of:
1) make them no come dey conversant with pidgin sotay Dem go go another board, go write pidgin dey think say na 9ja board them dey.
2) for the sake of international people wey dey always visit the board, wey fit merit some quality post wey make sense. Because I no think pidgin get translator and if those people come and them no understand wetting you dey talk or Dem no fit translate am Dem go pass. If ona check out most foreigners wey give people merits for we local board, na base on say Dem speak English and them see reason to wetting Dem talk, naim make them merit them.

To some extent, wetin you yan dey correct. But this translation matter no be today e start, even some reputable members here don run de matter hang boot. So no be bad thing if upcoming users do the same thing, de most important thing na do a perfect job. I no know about you or other persons but anytime I look through topic where the original author compile the various languages wey dem translate him topic, come see pidgin among the list, e dey give me joy say we dey build something beautiful here.

so if you ask me,  next time,  if it not mandatory to inform the original thread owners that you want to translate into pigin,  you no need to pm them,

Personally, I go say e show some kind of respect by contacting the author prior to the translation.

Also, to some authors e dey mandatory to get their consent before translating their topics. An author don complain to me before about a user wey translate him topic without him approval and for that reason, him no appreciate the translator effort.

this pig in matter na better matter when we need yarn for ourselves on a serious note.

The issue with our local board be say as we no really get a unique local language when no de associated with English e de always de difficult before we go create post when an outsider when we smart no go fit decode wetin we de try talk.

If like say our general language na something like Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba,  e for no b problem because we for easily yarn am without a third party knowing what we are even saying.

Another thing I de see as a minor problem be say some of us for real life fit no de all that good for the pigin English and even when once in a while dem fit just use am write, as e be say the normal English don master them, dem go always see themselves going back to the use of pigin on a regular bases.

Other local boards they speak their own language which they understand very, and I think in their country English might be an official language which they also learn in school.  But the essence of the local board is for them to use their own language to explain thing very well for them to enjoy discussion in their board.  As for we the people of naija English is not our language,  it is a borrowed language that most of that went to school and graduated with good grade we still find it difficult to speak and write English very well.if we must speak English here I don't see any why we should have naija local board.

To use abbreviations for pidgin English na the worst thing to do especially for forum like this where one go need to express himself so that others go understand.
I no really they bothered about whether to use pidgin or not because to me once a true Nigerian see the pidgin English words used, e go relate immediately and follow suit for the matter wey they for ground.

If is about maintaining a traditional language as a culture, you are right but the truth is that Nigeria does not have a traditional language rather we technically adopt the use of the pidgin English intended to be a unifying general language which yet not everyone in the country could flow with it but doesn't mean those who can't flow with it doesn't have their own local traditional language.

I will doubt to who so ever to say that pidgin has a dictionary proper way of spelling. What the pidgin does is recognize is to just spell the World with which ever alphabets as long it can be understood by those who speaks the language (pidgin).
Remember this is a borrowed language collaborated with some local traditional languages English language and the slangs.
The best part of writing in the pidgin is to atleast make your alphabets pronounceable at when creating word (s).

The essence of this local board is not a compulsory of breaking down or mandates that we must communicate with the pidgin language here rather it was approved and created because
* It is a cordial respect to recognizing the citizens of Nigeria in the sense that they have been in much qualitatives and has contributed effortlessly to the reasons why this platforms existed

* An encouragement considering the volumes by which Nigerians has speculated the Bitcoin technological systems and the appreciatable number of Bitcoin users in the country Nigeria in a global comparison.

* Also as we could have enough privileges to argue, deliberate and discusses about the occurances specifically about our governments, individuals, societies and globally. So, it is assumed that we merited it and honoured that we are liable to communicate relaxingly and comfortably communicate with our pidgin English language (that is willingly to those who chooses to go with the pidgin language).

On the other hand, there is nothing to be made secretive in this board and not even in any other Local board as long it is translatable.
Bet me, a lot is us has visited other local board sticking to their traditional languages but yet we could be angle to read and understand what they are talking about through the use of translator technology.

I have come across a thread one of the merit source @CryptopreneurBrainboss made making it clear about that the pidgin language is being comprised in the local board in the sense that some members doesn't make clear and readable in their contexts so, it is likely not mandatory that the use of pidgin language must stand in use.
That is to say if you mak constructive words with the pidgin here, there is an alternative to flow with the general English everyone can relate with.
So what is most important here is that for we to make constructive and quality discussions that would render positive measures to the platform as a whole and not where we could just catch fun.
