How can you promise $1,000,000 giveaway where you don't really give it all away?!

And giving away $5.00 only to those who wagered $20,000 in the past 7 days? $5?

Most users don't wager $20,000 ... let alone $10,000 in the past 7 days .... and even if hypothetically someone would have done it, risking $20k to win $5 is more than absurd. This is a borderline scam.

These types of promotions are quite common.
It actually makes sense to reward those putting the most at stake in a casino but you should never take it as a sign to gamble more than you can afford to lose.
It's just a complementary tip for being a high stakes gambler.
Big exchanges like Binance also run such promotions.
The advertised amount is probably actually given away for real to those participating, but you shouldn't really go out of your way to hunt rewards. In order for them to spread the rewards to as many people as possible naturally individual rewards won't be too high, and also the stakes can be high for a single reward.

So it would be smart to just see it as a side activity with your regular gsmbling.

On the one hand you're right, but on the other hand you're creating a very big hype here, $1,000,000, 1 million dollars, it sounds tempting, and in the end of the day you give out perhaps 5% of it to your users.

We promoted the event as part of our partnership with Stake but seeing the end result this creates a bad image for us, as affiliates, telling our users about a massive $1m promo, which eventually shed a bad light on us.

So it's not just a matter of being an individual here electing not to participate, there's more to it unfortunately.

I’m not a regular Stake player but I think some of cash drop will be given during the live stream by Drake because I remember watching of his earlier stream before and he is giving away huge money on his live viewers. Stakes code drop during the event is probably separate to the actual code drop for the Stake vs Drake event.

I don’t have a Stake account but it will be helpful if you will provide links about the terms of this event.

   Sounds like standard advertising to me, if I got everything in an advert under ideal perfect circumstances I would be driving a Lambo by now down the California highway with several well dressed ladies on each arm  Sadly we cannot win all prizes offered, it was just a potential offering and its no surprise they give the biggest prizes to regular players.  We knew that already surely ?   On the other hand I will say Im a really small player and they still give out a faucet like payout for anyone who deposits and bets every now and again, its not a free sunshine cruise sadly but I wouldn't expect that.
   I agree on the point about 7 days vs month, not everyone is going to have played in that time period so a few codes applying across a month makes it more flexible and applicable to a global audience.  Some people are celebrating various holidays with a time schedule not the same as the Western countries etc.   
  The stream chat is just a given with that many viewers, it will be busy beyond normal.    I guess the mods wanted the hype, a dead chat usually indicates a bad or false stream with not live viewers so people like to see it busy.   Some of the biggest games I watch via stream will put in a slow mode etc.

It was a real shit show, but that's also just as expected right?

The disappointment was also very visible in the stake forum with plenty of posts written by angry users.
Sure stake is a company that wants to make money, no problem with that. But seriously, calling it a giveaway and then expecting 20k wager for some of the drops really is too much. 5$ is a real joke for that requirement.

20k wager is 200$ in losses to house edge, if you play the casino. And that't the bare minimum these 200$ in losses.
Also the "blessings", all going to Canada and Brazil, very shady. And the usual "send your phone number" bullshit, even while the stream is already running and the "winners" were picked hours or days before is quite shady as well. Just for personal data collection.

I remember in the first (and maybe second) stream they gave like 10$ drops with an ok requirement, and at the end 1 big drop for almost all players. Actually this stream was better than the last one, drop wise. I think at the last it was only 40$ all drops combined. The wager wasn't that crazy big though.

Well, it's stake, what else is new. The whole xmas promo is a total joke compared to last year, they "give away" around 10-20% of what it was last year until now, that's shows us the appreciation.

True that, user of the platform have always a choice.  I do not know why it is a big issue for someone if Stake requirement of a $5 bonus code is a bit over their radar.  If we feel that the requirement is insanely high, we can always avoid claiming the code drop, no one is forcing us anyway.

The casino have their own strategy in order to make their platform profitable and Stake had been successful in implementing this kind of tactics on bonus drop since the code is always fully claimed in just a matter of short time regardless of the wagering requirement.

I wouldn't mind if it was $10 for anybody who place wagers more than $10,000, but giving out $5 to $20,000 wagers is less than 1% of the entire amount. I saw the link in the VIP and laughed. Despite the fact that there was a $ Eddie Santa spread earlier this month.

Hmm, you got something wrong here.
5$ for 20k wager is NOT a giveaway. On many sites you can easily get these 5$ as a rake back if you wager this amount, just not on stake because they cut the rake back to ridiculous numbers a while ago.
And these rake back amounts you get every time you wager these numbers, not only 1 time on a stream.

People are also not only disappointed because of the drops but because of the strange winner picking procedures.
What was also strange was the fact that 1-2 hours after the stream suddenly all the bonus codes were claimed even though a drop that was made hours before the stream with lower wager, only 5k claims instead of 10k at the stream AND a hiher amount with 10$ was still available. It makes 0 sense. The only conclusion one could make ( and many did ) is that stake just voided the drops an hour after the stream. There is no other reasonable explanation actually.

Seems that those winners are already prepared for the video call.

And yes, those drops given during live stream can't even be considered as a bonus for those high rollers or even to those who can wager $10,000 within the last 7 days. Maybe they should at least reward and involve those low-stake rollers too since for sure most of the live viewers there are within that tier. Although not a big deal to me since I just watched it for entertainment.

As you say, more than 95% of the users don't wager more than $20k/week and those who really do it don't care for a $5 prize. In don't think this was a good marketing strategy at all, and I'm sure only some abusers with multiple accounts were the ones who took advantage of this promo.

I remember good old days when casinos were giving away $10 for free. There was no requirements to wager your own money or anything. You were for instance getting $10 and had a requirement to play at least wager $10. You could put it all on one game and if you won you had $20 to withdraw. Those were the real promos. The $5 to $10 drop is just fine since the total sum of the drop is about $10,000 which means more users will be able to catch the rain. But the requirements to be eligible for that drop are the issue. The user should wagered around $10,000 in the last 7 days.

Actually, that's the usual requirement for those drops that were given in the Telegram channel but since we are talking about a huge event stream, the Stake X Drake, and they always front that $1,000,000 giveaway, they should at least modify or change that requirement for the said drop bonus to give chance to others. I doubt all those event drops were fully claimed.

Totally having no sense actually. Even if it would be giving $10 for that having $10k wager in a week wouldnt be something that be able to achieve by most gamblers excluding to those whales though.
Dont know on how they dont be able to assess up these things considering on the wagered overall requirement is really just that too high as if it looks that they dont really like to give those bonuses totally.
