I want to create an e-commerce website on WordPress and was thinking of buying a domain and hosting a website on Hetzner but I have heard that they ask for KYC verification, is that true? Does anyone know any good and cheap hosting website that will let me buy a domain and host a website without KYC documents? It will be good if they accept Bitcoin and altcoins but that's not mandatory. Don't suggest a random list, recommend one that you have used successfully.

Namecheap is a good one. I have bought multiple domains, and a couple of hostings before, and I was never asked to verify my identity. I still use them to this day.

The same thing applies to Vultr, I never had any issues with them but I did see a couple of users here saying they did ask them for personal info before.

I like Namecheap because I can load balance with bitcoin and do the work. I used to use some other hosting services and none of them allowed crypto payment. However I am wondering when a site become big for example like Bitcointalk.org then I don't think Namecheap and other hosting service providers will allow continuing business with them without asking for real personal details. I yet to have a website to have huge name LOL

I guess most of the hosting services don't ask KYC,  i already tried namecheap and hostinger.
While they don't ask personal information for the account itself, they recommends you to input details like real name, updated contact number/email and address when registering your domain for administrator's/registrant/technical details for whois info. But they don't verify them like asking IDs so they just trust you to input correct details.

I have been using namecheap for years, and I do not remember that I was asked to prove my identity, but I was careful during registration for the first time to enter correct data so that I would be able to prove it later if I was asked for one reason or another. I don't think you could find better options.

I guess most of the hosting services don't ask KYC,  i already tried namecheap and hostinger.

This is not trust in the literal sense, especially if the user is making payments using a bank card. The data associated with the card is all that the site needs in the event that it needs to verify the user’s identity in the most extreme cases. With the exception of namecheap, which is considered the safest hosting and domain service in crypto, all other companies will not need to request strict identity authentication as long as payments go through a payment card or bank account.

Sorry but i never used any payment cards in namecheap, i always use bitcoin or paypal to top up my account balance so i can't relate into that.

About the trust, i'm talking about the the inputting of personal details when registering domains for administrator's/registrant/technical details for whois info, it's not related to payments, i'm sure they are different.

Namecheap gives you various payment options, including Bitcoin. They have all the basic features you are looking for in addition to paid services. Their server prices are reasonable and they have a good Cpanel, with email address forwarding and SSL service. In terms of trust, we are talking about a well-known company, but I don’t know if you will remain anonymous or that your data will not be provided to the authorities, please read the terms of use and try not to violate them.

Namecheap is a good one. I have bought multiple domains, and a couple of hostings before, and I was never asked to verify my identity. I still use them to this day.

But take note their support page state they can ask you to perform identity and payment verification[1].

The same thing applies to Vultr, I never had any issues with them but I did see a couple of users here saying they did ask them for personal info before.

I also recall they require you to use credit card or paypal before you can pay with cryptocurrency.

Some registries do not really ask for KYC or any data when registering domains, although they are obliged to do so. Of course, you can always provide fake personal data, but no one often checks it. However, this opens up the possibility of a potential problem

ICANN policies say for example:

Quote
3.7.7.1 The Registered Name Holder shall provide to Registrar accurate and reliable contact details and promptly correct and update them during the term of the Registered Name registration, including: the full name, postal address, e-mail address, voice telephone number, and fax number if available of the Registered Name Holder; name of authorized person for contact purposes in the case of an Registered Name Holder that is an organization, association, or corporation; and the data elements listed in Subsections 3.3.1.2, 3.3.1.7 and 3.3.1.8.

3.7.7.2 A Registered Name Holder's willful provision of inaccurate or unreliable information, its willful failure promptly to update information provided to Registrar, or its failure to respond for over fifteen (15) calendar days to inquiries by Registrar concerning the accuracy of contact details associated with the Registered Name Holder's registration shall constitute a material breach of the Registered Name Holder-registrar contract and be a basis for cancellation of the Registered Name registration.
https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/ra-agreement-2009-05-21-en#3.7.7.2

Well, for some serious businesses, hiding data can bring problems.
There is even a WDRP rule, the "WHOIS Data Reminder Policy", which obliges all registries to remind all their clients once a year to check the accuracy of the data.
source: https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/faqs-f0-2012-02-25-en

It's a good thing with the GDPR, which contributed to the fact that at least every registry offers free whois protection, so the domain owner is not fully exposed to the public.

There are small domain and hosting platforms that do not require KYC but you will likely encounter issues because there are instances when these small domain and hosting platforms are just resellers of big hosting companies so they can impose their regulations and terms like no KYC, but there's a possibility that their service cease operation and you could get a late notification, losing all your data.

The truth is domain registrars and hosting companies must provide details as mandated by ICANN, like all the others here I recommend that you only pick service and reputation when running a site and you can find it all on Namecheap, KYC is not mandatory with Namecheap, been hosting all my sites for over 4 years and until now they never asked me to do KYC only a piece of valid information for your contact information to protect your account, if you are not comfortable inputting your information, you can ask one of your team to fill in for you.

So far, never a company asked me for a KYC verification. Even Godaddy. I'm sure it happens rarely, and when it happens there is a fair reason behind.

Anyway, Njal.la is an alternative. https://njal.la/
They buy the domain name for you and use their own information, not your. Others websites do the same anyway, they buy a domain on your behalf. The difference is in the WHOIS data: you see the owner is Njalla and not Mr Abcd Efgh.

They will never ask your personnal information, they don't care about it but as you guess, it doesn't change anything if we talk about regulations: ICANN does whatever they want no matter what's the domain register.

Don't suggest a random list, recommend one that you have used successfully.
Flokinet is one of the best hosting providers, based in Island, and they have strict no-kyc policy.
Flokinet is crypto friendly so you can pay for anything using Bitcoin and other coins.
Other alternative hosting providers are also available so you can check them on kycnot.me and compare the prices and terms.

I bought a domain on namecheap without problems. I tried to host a website on Hetzner but they immediately asked me for KYC documents and I don't want to waste time by submitting my documents.

So far, never a company asked me for a KYC verification. Even Godaddy. I'm sure it happens rarely, and when it happens there is a fair reason behind.
Never happened to me either but Hetzner asked me to submit KYC for no fair reason. I simply registered via my Gmail, entered the correct information and that's all.

Thank you very much, their 1GB RAM and 100% CPU is more than enough for me and looks too good for a monthly 3.50 Euro.

I have used Godaddy and Namecheap both and never asked KYC. I feel more comfortable with Namecheap, where I bought a domain and hosted it through Bitcoin and didn't need to submit my personal details. It asks for a billing address but doesn't need verification; you can enter any valid address. My personal portfolio website is built with a namecheap domain and hosting, and I have never faced any legal issues yet. Namechap is also the biggest name in the domain hosting business industry, and they are very supportive as well. So you may try it.

I've bought domains and hosting servers from different companies and none of them asked me to verify my identity.
However, most of them state in their ToS that they may, and reserve the rightto, ask you to verify your identity. So, this is something you need to be prepared for.
Don't want to suggest any names, but it seems like namecheap is the most preferred company for crypto users!

Any hosting companies should not ask for any KYC, based on my experience on known hosting companies like Namecheap and Hostinger they don't ask for KYC.

This hosting company "Hetzner" does not ask for KYC they only ask for contact information for verification purposes it's the same as other hosting companies it's required to comply with guidelines from ICANN.

Read this "Contact Information Verification"

They do not ask you to do KYC, but this does not mean that they can ask you in the future. These companies have legal business and manage their servers from known places and will try to avoid problems with authorities, so they record all the data about you and may ask you for more data.

Until now I didn't knew that hosting providers asking for KYC is a thing, especially when it comes providers who accept Bitcoin. But it looks that Hetzner isn't accepting crypto as payment, so, that's a bit different case. From what I noticed, hosts who accept crypto gives users more freedom than these who only work with fiat. From my own experience, I used Namecheap and Hostinger and didn't even thought that they can ask for KYC. But there is no guarantee that they won't ask for it in future. Probably nobody won't be interest in small personal blogs, but if you will be big fish with successful e-commerce website, you may get asked for more information.

They do not ask you to do KYC, but this does not mean that they can ask you in the future. These companies have legal business and manage their servers from known places and will try to avoid problems with authorities, so they record all the data about you and may ask you for more data.
Yeah, regulations always changes and usually not in good direction and we're getting less and less anonymous eventually. Like few years ago who could have thought that mixers will be banned from Bitcointalk one day.

There are many websites that resell Hetzner servers acquired from auction and don't require KYC, so look into those.

You don't need to use Hetzner themselves to make an e-commerce site, in fact it would probably be better if you use a host that specifically makes it easy for you to host wordpress and in particular WooCommerce.

I don't know how reliable Wordpress.com's offering is but you can start with that (they obviously don't accept BTC, but I have had success paying for JetPack (owned by the same entity) plans using virtual cards loaded with crypto.

That's correct but where should I find that list?

You don't need to use Hetzner themselves to make an e-commerce site, in fact it would probably be better if you use a host that specifically makes it easy for you to host wordpress and in particular WooCommerce.
I don't want to buy managed Wordpress hosting because I don't like when I am limited in options, I sometimes want to add sub-domains, do some other things, install different CMS. At the moment I don't have a huge traffic either and good shared hosting with Cpanel is enough for me to run my e-commerce website and play with my own stuff.

I don't know how reliable Wordpress.com's offering is but you can start with that (they obviously don't accept BTC, but I have had success paying for JetPack (owned by the same entity) plans using virtual cards loaded with crypto.
Wordpress.com's hosting is very good. By the way, dkbit98 suggested me Flokinet and I am very happy with them. For 3.5 Euro a month, I get 10GB SSD, 1 GB RAM and
100% CPU (lve).
