The statement you have made here is possible for a professional gambler. I doubt there is anyone who has a particular amount they would want to win in their entire life as a gambler. We can predict and expect, but mist importantly be realistic in what we wish for and the probability of we achieving that target based on luck. I agree with you George because I have observed this among many gamblers when I do visit physical shops, people gamble with no plans, no target, no nothing. This happens but I will not be tempted to conclude that such people gamble just to catch fun because like the OP said, there can hardly be fun when the gambler is constantly losing money. If if there is fun in losing a couple of times, when it because like a culture, the gambler will definitely  develop a feeling of remorse which can spoil the so called fun. That is the biggest mistake a newbie can make while he starts gambling but no joke now , I think we all forget sometimes to make money management right ? That usually turns against us and we tend to lose money because of this factor.

True , at some point if you gamble a lot without having some money management you will slowly but surely become addicted and from there is just a step until you will start gamble the money you don't have and start to take loans to gamble and so on. Basically there is no coercion from any party that forces you or anyone to get involved in gambling, this is a choice, and if you do have some money that you are ready to lose then it is okay if you want to bet it, but if you have a financial situation that is really concerning such as to meet the needs of life is already difficult then it is clearly better to find other activities that can also be fun but do not involve the risk of losing anything other than time.
