Entering your balance doesn't really help, since most addresses which are actually being used by individuals will contain a unique number of coins. But having said that, it's still not as bad for your privacy as using any third party block explorer or any non-full node wallet, which the majority of people are doing all the time.

I think the bigger issue is it is completely pointless. Given that there are thousands of centralized exchanges and other services which are each holding thousands of users' coins on a handful of addresses, being in the top x% of addresses means nothing.

That's true, I don't think there is any need to broke own privacy by using these.
Bitcoin has been created for privacy, I will not think anything other than foolishness to give the information of the funds of my wallet to others. I would never use them and would not recommend anyone to watch ranks even just for fun.
But I can suggest that those who are interested to know their rank can see such charts, And you can guess what rank you are with the total amount of funds in your wallet's.

its open source, looks like just some API calls, and it saves everything in your browser, so no remote database

It uses the same backend as electrum wallet, i think it might be possible to your your own node if running

If I type thousands of addresses on this website with my naked IP, what will happen? How will they know if I enter my address, your address or someone's address?
In overall, it's a basic rule to mask your IP address and take some security measurements to not leave your traces everywhere. Everyone should do it when they enter their address on blockchain.com, blockcypher, blockchair, mempool and other blockchain explorer websites.

This project will not become popular and I think blockchain analysis don't build their hope on collecting important data from this website but if they put something like this on major blockchain explorer websites, it might attract many new people to type their address with their naked IP.

Knowing how the CIA, NSA and all the other 3 letter agencies all over the world work, I don't think that it's a far-fetched idea that this website is really a honeypot by the government to do some watchlist on a lot of bitcoin addresses and it's actually a likely thing that they can do because it's easier for them to filter out who's got some suspicious activity if they log their addresses there. I don't think VPN or Tor will be of help in this one.

They won't, but almost nobody does this and almost everybody only looks up their own addresses or transactions.

Yeah, probably not given we know that they already run various blockchain explorers for the purpose of gathering data, but it is still bad practice to go around entering your addresses on random websites.

If they are implementing a feature to show which addresses are linked to the address you enter as you state, then this claim is impossible. There is no possible way your browser can download and process the 500GB+ blockchain in order to analyze your address locally. Your data is absolutely being processed by their servers.

I have a some what curiosity to know what rank I would be.  But I know this is not going to help me in any way and it is only information they need.

Could be a honey pot of the Federal Agencies.  Could be a data collection they can then sell for an expensive price to a much bigger Blockchain Analysis company.  Could even be the creation of a big Blockchain Analysis firm.  Who the hell knows.

It is a beautiful project that allows you to download the code, re-edit it and then you can enjoy comparing characters that resemble Dragon Ball Z characters. I understand some people's concerns about privacy, but since the code is open source, you can modify it, and it is better for it to be self-hosted so that the data is collected from your node instead of from servers managed by them.

I saw similar projects for generating random avatar characters for other altcoins, but I would not enter any of my bitcoin addresses for this purpose.
This is ok as a fun experimental project, but I don't see any serious use case here or anything that would be interesting to me.

You will enter your Bitcoin address only, which is something you do at blockchair.com, and all the information they can collect is browser data, browsing fingerprint, cookies, and IP address and accessing the site through Tor will enhance your privacy.
It's kind of fun, and the code is open source, so you can modify it and customize the images yourself.
