Well according to the advanced learners dictionary, it describes an educated person as someone who has a very high standard of learning, while the Oxford dictionary states  that an educated person is someone that have been to a school, be it primary, secondary or tertiary, we all know that education plays an important role in the forum, cause one ought to know how to read and write properly to be able to participate in the activities going on here.

 However in my understanding asides from knowing how to read and write, which describes someone educated, i think an educated person can also be described as someone that can set defenses around themselves against the world, most of us here come from or lives in areas that's insecured. Therefore based on their intelligence they should be able to strategize how to protect themselves and keep themselves from getting into danger, an illiterate might be physically strong  but might lack the basic understanding of how to survive, but it takes someone educated to study their surroundings and figure out how to safeguard themselves from being harmed. The insecurity in our country is getting out of hand, and in this new year we all need to be very strategic on how to survive. Everyone needs to be on guard, cause that's part of what makes us educated.

Being educated doesn't just mean going to school and reading books, being educated is the ability to use your senses to navigate lives struggles and the ability to show that you are exposed and your sense of reasoning should not be the same as an uneducated. An educated person is someone that has the ability to communicate to another person without being rebelious.

To me, am educate person is someone who has gone through the walls of higher institutions, and have acquired a knowledge of certain profession for a period of 4- 5 years, and is able defend his profession.

In my own perspective once you went to school and have academic qualifications, such as a diploma or degree, I can say you are educated but not in real life.
Can you imagine a person who hasn’t attended any school but has engaged themselves in life’s rich experiences? They can read very well,they are into many conversations with people and understand the behaviours of people.

Education is not only going to school, for example, the so called mechanic who understands the problems of engines and fixes them didn't go through any classes but through hands and sef taught experience and has a passion for problem solving in machines. The correct identity of an educated person is someone who knows how to read, write and then seek out information for yourself. Not everyone who has been in school is educated, some just passed through school and are still not educated. I have heard the term "educated Illiterate" before used in the description of some people, it is because these people went to school but are not behaving educated.

The economy is in a terrible condition the standard of living is on the high side and there are little to no subsidies left coming from the side of the government. Absolutely right, a person can be called educated only when it comes out from within him or through his behavior. When a person is able to obtain a degree or certificate after a long period of acquiring knowledge from a specific educational institution and has specific knowledge or ideas on various subjects and can plan or transform new things into reality by thinking on his own and can solve any problem well by applying specific knowledge and can try to make himself more educated or create a mindset of acquiring knowledge. I swear, their are still some set of people that are like that, school went through them instead of them going through school, going to school doesn't really guarantee you of being a civilized person  because of course I know a lot of  them out there  that went to school yet someone that doesn't know the way to a school gate is far more Better than them. To me being educated is beyond the scope of attending higher institution or gaining educational qualification, in our Nigeria society today, we are ruled by those who have the have the highest educational qualification, some are professors, doctors etc, but we see strange things from them to the extent that we begin to think if really this people are educated.

When someone is educated, it is meant to reflect in your behavior and your ways of doing things, i feel if someone has gone to school and has acquired all the necessary certificate, but can not do things right, such person is not meant to be called educated person.

When he decides to draw something, even you will be shocked. His English is also clean despite that he didn't go to school and it was at that point I realized that real education no end inside classroom.

I've come across conversations like this in the internet and social media and the truth is, school will give you the certificates but it is life experiences that actually gives you the understanding. We have seen situations where someone will have a degree but will still be clueless about real life problem solving like the story of a university professor in mechanical engineering who could not fix a minor mechanical issues in his car and will have to call the mechanic artisans to fix the car problem among numerous other examples. We've seen people who never attended classroom lessons yet very smart sweet wise, highly skilled, innovative and emotionally intelligent.

Generally I see education as a growth in human life which includes learning how to think, speak, associate, solve problems and adapt to situations. The sad truth about this matter is that many people within the formal education system stop learning once they graduate but those outside the formal system keep learning every day through experience.
