Is there some metric or study somewhere that could let us know how many individuals (individual humans) currently hold Bitcoin as an asset? Are there any metrics that could approximate the number? Estimate change over time?
I would think this would be a key metric in understanding the market.
Over the years I have seen many speculations about the number of people actually using bitcoin, but none of them seems to be very convincing since the usage of bitcoin and how many addresses each person has varies wildly among its users, as a person could use a single address to accumulate and hold their coins, while another person could use hundreds of addresses, and yet both are valid ways to use bitcoin, however the only thing we know for sure is that the number of people using bitcoin is still increasing. The truth is we can never really get the true numbers on this particular subject. Also, there's no significance if we have such number because each wallet have their own amount of holdings. Ask yourself, once you know the numbers, what will you do such stats? And besides, there are active and dormant accounts.

If nobody knows that OP, then what would you do if you knew the number of Bitcoin holders? There are other holders who don't just stick to one address, like Bitcoin holders, because it's a safe way to use many addresses. And you are the only one I saw who was interested in knowing the total number of bitcoin holders, and for sure, that is what the majority of the community here in our forum will answer you. So it's hard to do that, and it can't be done in reality.

There are many sites out there who can give you these figures you sought but the challenge will be on the accuracy of the information provided because there are individuals who has got multiple Bitcoin wallet at a time , I don't know the numeration you are going to assign to such and also there are cases of wallets that have been lost probably the user lost their phrases and no longer have access to them again, all those will contribute to the numbers you sought but if you narrow bit down to activate users, region and probably exchange the precision becomes even higher.
On this forum I'm very sure a good percentage of members are holders of Bitcoin and even traders aswell but I'm not sure if there's a record of such which you can find here on this forum but out there, there are few records .

according to the website you mentioned. these are just estimates. even the website is also saying there is no way to find out actual number of bitcoin users. everyone can just make estimates. we can only know the number of wallets have bitcoin. knowing how many individual have bitcoin is impossible. because some people have multiple wallets while some people keep their bitcoins in exchanges which are held by one master wallet. the website above do gives some interesting facts tho. it was fun reading that.

until now there is no definite data that can show how many individuals hold bitcoin, because each person may hold more than 2 or 3 or more wallets. however, if we look at several statistical websites, there are around 50-100 million people who hold bitcoin globally, but this is only approximate data, not actual data since it is quite difficult to estimate the exact data of the number of individuals who hold bitcoin. and this number will probably increase in line with the increasing price of bitcoin in the future.

Coming up with solid numbers on Bitcoin holders sure is tricky business. With Bitcoin's anonymity and all, folks can whip up as many separate wallets as they fancy. Makes it right difficult to pin down how many one-of-a-kind holders there really are.
I can only speak from my own example and I've usually got a couple addresses floating around my wallet that have some coins stashed away. Plus you gotta count all them custodial service addresses from exchanges, casinos, and what have you that I use. And bam - all those addresses map to just little old me. Wouldn't take but a quick minute to tick off twenty or so addresses tied to just one holder.
So I reckon well never have the definitive answer. Best we can do is speculate based on our own tales. But given how effortless it is to generate addresses my hunch is the number of unique holders is far fewer than the number of addresses out there.

I do not think that there will be some that are gonna be accurate to put up numbers. Estimations are fine and it is not a problem after all if the numbers are not accurate at all.
It is due to the growing number and adoption of Bitcoin having new investors, holders and generation of more wallets regardless of the amount it has got.

Individual holders cannot be determined since not all holder uses a single address, but numerous address. But we can come up with a fixed number of addresses but for number of holders, obviously we can't.
However, it's certain that majority that invest in the crypto market are long term hodlers. It's just that each individual has more than one or two wallet addresses that they are currently used and make them secured.
Is this correct? I think in contrast to you, most people want to make money quickly from bitcoin and there are not too many people who are long-term holders in this market. Because if the majority focuses on long-term holding, not too many people will lose money when investing in bitcoin. Bitcoin is the best choice for long-term investment but not too many investors are doing it, most are just speculating or looking to get rich quickly. That is also the reason why losers in the market always outnumber the winners.

I was only guessing at the volatility thing. I only know that people consider this a key metric for other instruments that are owned by a multitude of entities e.g. stocks.
When you guess then that means you don't know what is being said, then how can people see your view as something to discuss. At least you have a source that can strengthen the volatility and how strong the source convinces the process. Regardless of the reasons, clearly lots of people consider how widely held Bitcoin is to be an important metric. That in of itself makes it an important metric since it speaks to the perception of the instrument's popularity / desirability.
Put it another way, if a study showed that fewer and fewer people were investing in bitcoin over time, that would exert a lot of downward pressure on the price.
Try to mention what when a few people invest in Bitcoin, then what happens if the price can soar higher? Popularity/desire can be seen how the percentage of Bitcoin when created until now which has been so developed, there is a reason why Bitcoin can be as fast as this as one of the most fundamental coins. On the other side there is the closest coin that also has a fairly large market capitalization but The coin is different from Bitcoin. I don't know how you associate metric instruments in each writing and why this needs to be mentioned repeatedly. Bitcoin becomes more important because it is able to maintain its value because that is more trusting people put money here and Bitcoin volatility can also provide reasons why Bitcoin is considered quite speculative and can produce huge profits.

We cannot actually tell the exact number but I'm sure I am one of them. Though just a small amount but having just a portion is better than nothing. And as long as I am enrolled to a signature campaign Bitcoin will keep on coming. 😁

I believe the fact we can't know exactly and even approximately how many Bitcoin holders there are represents one of the reasons why governments are so avid to pass regulations over crypto industry and its enthusiasts. They want to know what is the real percentage of people who are using cryptocurrencies, so they can understand how developed the adoption is, plus calculating with accuracy how much they can profit from them through taxes.
Probably in the next few years we will be able to answer this question precisely, as regulations are advancing fast forward these days in many countries, and the tendency is that every other countries which still don't have a plan on how to act towards cryptocurrencies end copying the same models from another countries which already did previously.

This is a very difficult question and the correct answer may not be known to anyone. It is actually impossible to say how many holders are holding Bitcoin individually. Many members in the world are involved in cryptocurrencies and many members do not know about cryptocurrencies but know about Bitcoin and they invest in Bitcoin. Even from countries where Bitcoin is legal, it is difficult to calculate how many users are holding Bitcoin from that country. In all the countries where bitcoin is allowed but not only users hold bitcoin but there are many countries where bitcoin is not allowed yet users hold bitcoin from those countries. I think if you have questions like this running around in your head too much, you should make a number yourself and then comfort your mind that this is how many individual bitcoin holders there are in the world right now.

This must be just an estimation, they use several data base to estimate this number like blockchain data and exchange account information. There is no way to find the exact number, even though all of the transaction of Bitcoin is traceable and public, but the nature of the Bitcoin is pseudonymous except the Bitcoin owner is voluntarily revealing their own ownership of Bitcoin there is no way to count the exact number of Bitcoin owner.

There are many BTC hodlers all over the world which the internet will not give the accurate figure of the amount of BTC hodlers in the social media but I know they are above 106 millions BTC hodlers.
For you to ask such question in this platform show that you have some mission, but let the mission be positive mission because everything about BTC is anonymous which it will be difficult for you to know all the BTC hodlers in the real life.

Exactly how many people currently hold Bitcoin as an asset, I don't think anyone can accurately say. Because some people have lost access to their Bitcoin or cannot own it for various reasons such as forgetting passwords or losing private keys. The actual number of Bitcoin owners may be much lower than the number of wallets, as some individuals may hold multiple wallets and some wallets are businesses or May be owned by other companies. The number of active Bitcoin users and investors is constantly changing as new people enter the market and others exit. Although there is no exact metric available for the number of people who own Bitcoin, it is safe to say that there are millions of Bitcoin owners worldwide, with the number constantly evolving.

Because indeed we will never be able to identify the total number of people who are registered as holders of bitcoin so why find out more about this because it will also not change any facts other than curiosity. There are a lot of wallets that have been registered and we certainly know that sometimes 1 person can have more than one wallet so that it will also make it difficult to identify besides that we also probably know that most of what is happening now for the problem of identifying someone is clear that it will be hampered by privacy and anonymity and this is also another problem that should be taken into consideration so that for the problem of the number of bitcoin holders this will never be identified in terms of the total number.

I don't think it's possible for you to know the number of persons that have bitcoin at the moment because first of all, there are some persons that want to keep their financial dealings privately and bitcoin enhances that or gives that support for you to keep your private financial life or their bitcoin investment private away from the eyes of the public, so it will be very hard for you to find out how many persons are holding bitcoin at the moment, however I've not seen any matrics that can be used to approximate the number of holders.

It doesn't matter to know the exact number of holders, the most important is that the number of investors/holders is quite growing fast. It means that there is a huge market appreciation happening already and people see the benefits from Bitcoin. In the next couple of years from now, it possibly tripled (or more) its numbers.
We're not sure someday we'll get accurate data or that is still impossible because a single person can create multiple wallet addresses. Perhaps, they are anonymous, we never owe them to let us know.

Unfortunately, there’s no key to determine the over all bitcoin hodlers in the crypto market, but I’m definitely sure that it’s a lot and limitless. Most especially that bitcoin is the top coin in the crypto space, majority of the hodlers will certainly hold bitcoin over altcoins.
However, the challenge here is if they can really make it hodling for long term knowing bitcoin is so much volatile. While determined hodlers will keep it hodling no matter what, majority of the newbies will end up panic selling since they can’t stand the pressure that is brought by volatility in the price of bitcoin.

Apart from exchangers that brands their bitcoin wallet addresses, it is almost impossible to state who holds bitcoin, whether an individual or a coorperation. Although certain transaction consistency and wallet ballance can advise that a particular wallet address is not owned by an individual but asides that you can not tell who exactly owns a wallet address.
