Okay, today I was actually out for a little business and it happens that I almost spent all my time wasted without me even having a smooth deal, but along the line I have few games that I have placed a bet and was wanting to view my games from my phone since gambling is now mobile, what I meant by mobile is that you can access your account at any place provided that you have an internet connectivity you will login to monitor your matches.

So when I logged in, someone close to me easily peep from my left hand side and noticed that I just opened my account monitoring my games, at this point what he said is "ahh you don join dem"? Meaning you have also belong to the groups of people that gambles?

On a lighter note, I just smile and asked him if there is anything wrong while gambling or while monitoring my games and he said nothing but just that few people he knew that are gambling almost turned useless.

This now triggered me to come ask here whether you cares about what people says or sees you as when gambling, I know there are people who don't know you from time or who doesn't believe that you are a gambler and if it happens that you came across such people and their reaction towards you goes other way round would you care about it or you just totally ignore them?

If they are bold enough to say it to my face and advice me, I might then explain to them that I don’t do it all the time – I only do it when I’m free, or when I have spare cash that I can afford to lose… it’s not something I’m hoping to use to make billions but if I’m lucky to win that huge prize while having fun I’ll gladly take it.

Back to the Op, I don’t think I’ve ever opened my gambling account in public before why not wait till you get to your house or a place that you’re alone before you open to check the game? I don’t think more than three persons know that I’m into gambling and there’s no way for other to know because I don’t walk around the street carrying banners saying “I’m into gambling”. If you don’t want people to talk shit about you gambling then don’t let them know about it, it’s as simple as that.

Nah, I wouldn't care, but I would not go on public places and let's say just open my mobile phone connect to gambling and play, I'm not that time. But in any case I do that and I see people reacting negatively, I will just shake it off and just continue to play.

If you are bothered, then it's better to just stop your play right there because as a gambler, we all know that we are superstitious and it might bring bad luck to you if you will be concerned about something that you shouldn't. Well OP so far as you're taking responsibility for your actions and inactions, you put food on your table, clothes yourself and your family, provide a home of your own I don't really think it is necessary to listen to people's opinion about how you choose to live your life. What prompted this statement is obviously the fact that he or she has seen more negative impacts of gambling than positive impact. Youths who are not of age and even those of age gambling irresponsibly, ruining their lives, becoming a nuisance to themselves and their environment. If you had gone further in your conversation, you would have be able to enlighten the person on responsible gambling.

If you go to a pub and you are drinking irresponsibly, if someone there calls you out on it, then you would care because no one ever cautions a responsible drinker. It is the same analogy in gambling. You will be call out when someone perceives that you are overdoing it. Some who may even call you out when you are not overdoing it are only concerned about you so that you do not over do it.

Honestly I don't care what other people say because they don't give me money when I lose and they don't make me win either. However, because in my country gambling is considered a negative activity (even though there are lots of gamblers in my country) I always gamble in a private place, because it makes me comfortable and not disturbed by anyone. My wife doesn't know about my hobby.
Sometimes I like to play poker, and even the thought of this activity gives me anti-stress and pleasant anticipation. But I’m very afraid to tell my wife about this, and I only have the poker app on my phone, and it’s password-protected from her. I am sure that I will not be understood. I work 24/7 and I need to relax, but how can I explain this to my wife or her relatives? They will say that I'm losing the family budget, but I don't spend more than $20 per session, and for me that's not that much money. But I am very relaxed.

I think someday I will confess to my beloved that I am passionate about gambling, but it’s unlikely in the near future.

You are correct I will say is my bad and I never knew his eyes were so smart and shape to peep through my phone otherwise it's very hard for me to reveal my phone to people around me to know i am into gambling.
However, I have learnt my lesson I won't even try it outside without me being inside or in a private and quiet place where I think I can comfortably access my device without anyone having to look inside my phone to come judge me again because of my gambling nature and besides I don't gambling regularly is just when I am pleased or touch to gamble before I could possibly place bet otherwise I don't constantly do that.

That's the spirit and that is actually true. There's no reason for them to bother you on your gambling activities.

If you are the bread winner of the family, why are you afraid to tell your wife that you are gambling? But if you think that it keeping your relationship good by not telling her, then do not tell her. It is not about the amount of money that you spend on gambling that people will know that the amount is small, it is until they also know what you are earning in ratio to what you are spending on gambling. If you earn like $1000 monthly and spending just $20 on gambling, that is still good.

I don't care what these people say. They don't add anything to my budget nor they add anything to my gambling expenses. They can paint a bad image of me but I won't really say anything since I'm funding everything with my own pocket. It's just that his personal experience with gambling was very negative, even if solely in an indirect way, as he doesn't look to have been a gambler himself, but saw people he knew becoming problem gamblers. For that reason I think it's normal he acted the way he did towards you.

Then you have two alternatives: to tell him to mind his own business and stop intruding himself in other people's affairs, or to patiently explain him not every gamblers are likely to turn into useless individuals due to their hobby. Rather, only a minority develop addictive behavior, otherwise we would have a pandemic of addiction cases spread in the world turning everyone into useless human beings to work, study and interact among themselves, because most people have had contact with gambling at least once in their lives.

As long as its my money and I still have self-control, then I guess they have no right to interfere with my activities and I don’t listen to any comments about my gambling activities especially if its not helping me and all they want is just to give a none sense comments. Unfortunately gambling if not stopped at a point where you see that your life is getting out of hands can become a pretty dangerous sport with really high risk involved for our own life.If we don't stop at that point there is only one way which is down south and very difficult to recover so that is why that person told you that some people have become useless,meaning their life is not the same anymore.
