I care about it considering my gender. There is a kind of way that people in my environment will stigmatize females who are known to be gamblers. They are seen as irresponsible and exhibiting behaviors they are not supposed to exhibit because majority of the people around me believe that gambling is mostly a male thing and not something a female should get involved with. For that reason, asides the few times I have tried on a slot machine in a general place, I cannot make it a regular thing so I do not get noticed.

There are people who are really that sensitive into those words that they might be able to hear around and there are ones who dont really care on what others been saying as long they have
done or do something on the things that they do like. We do know that when it comes to gambling then people would really be having that negative approach and views into it on which it isnt really that shocking anymore that negativity would be always there. Its true that it would really be just fine if those words could be heard from your loved ones or relatives but if it goes from other people
then you might be having those reactions which you might be ending up on having some argumentations but actually it isnt really that much of an issue as long you do

I've learned this late in life that bothering about what people think of you or what you do is just a pain in the ass and an absolute waste of time. That is, unless, you were specifically aiming for their recognition/acceptance or something in the first place. Which, btw, should not be a regular thing to expect from anyone on the street, unless you're a politician in which case you do indeed need literally everyone on the street's recognition.

You can only be bothered if you are doing something wrong or if they get affected by what you are doing. Personally, there is a few people in my life that comment on my gambling activity but I don't give a sshh on them, yeah a total waste of time if you try to argue with them and I only think that it is not wrong to gamble if you do it for yourself and is trying to escape temporarily from reality, in short entertaining yourself!

Now in cases where you do need their recognition or something similar, then that's when you start thinking about how to explain, how to reach a consensus, or just a middleground for the both of you. There's usually one in most cases, especially if you're both important to each other. In OPs case I reckon it's just blind knowledge of gamblers (which is what media portrays it to be, so I can't exactly deny that it's true, but not the entirety) but I reckon a simple explanation and a simple look at OP himself can explain how it's a big generalization.

I think there is no point to argue or explain to anyone, don't owe it to them, we have different path in life, different hobby, different decisions, and all they need is to leave you alone and think about their own business.

In terms of family it'll be hard to overlook, as they'll be helpful when we are facing some disputes. Not just gambling, a lot more things could be an issue to the gambler in future. So, being attentive to what our family have to say regarding gambling, can help a gambler to understand what to do, whether to quit or continue the process. Most times our family may have noticed a symptom in our life, that made them comment about the gambling habit of the gambler. Which is not wrong to add response on a person's personal life. On the other hand, not every stranger would be considered as not making valuable response to a gambler's life. The only dispute is that, separation will definitely erupt, as gamblers don't like hearing such things, especially from a non gambler. As a gambler when people begin to talk, I don't respond or go into deep argument. The only thing I do is to have a rethink if the person is adding some meaningful advice to me or I'm I getting out of control in gambling.

If I were in your shoes, instead of trying to defend what I choose to do with my time and money. I would scold him for invading my privacy. People should know their boundaries, gambling is for fun and like everything else in the world can become bad when abused. Yes of course that's better, on the other hand as we know that in general the public's view on gambling is very negative and with that then obviously it is possible that maybe people in your neighborhood who don't know anything about gambling will assume that you have a bad personality by getting involved in gambling, and obviously usually the talk of the community will spread very quickly so it is very likely that you will be seen as an outcast or not cared for by the people around or even considered as a person who has the potential to fall into financial problems.

So of course I also have the same habits as you, we are both gamblers and I also always keep my gambling activities secret from others except for one of my friends who is also a gambler. I think basically even if you don't harm others for example by asking others for money to gamble but still they will have a bad point of view on you if you deliberately publicize your gambling activities. Therefore, it is obviously better to keep your gambling activities private, but also to remain firm on your control and limits because that will be able to keep us from falling into financial problems later, and just for fun and to fill the time.

I think it is good to focus on what making anyone happy and what he/sh like instead of worry about what others think about their choice like gambling. If they are careful and know the possible dangers so this is their own choice.
Some people may not like gambling because they think it can make people addicted or have money problems. And it is each person own choice how they want to use their time and money. If gambling makes someone happy and they can do it without causing problems, then they don't need to worry about what others think. Hahaha...if you care and feel concerned about what people say/view of you because you are a female gambler, then you shouldn't gamble again. Otherwise, live your life and damn anybody. The only way that could make you guilty is when you are an irresponsible gambler, but if you are the type that is responsible in your gambling and your lifestyle is a good one, my friend, live your life and let go of what anyone can say or feel about it. I have a lot of female friends who are gambling, and guess what, none of them is irresponsible and waste money on it anyhow, they moderate things. This is why I do not see gambling as a big deal, it only depends on what you gamble for and the extent to which you allow the gambling to control you. If it has no serious influence on your life, just continue to gamble for fun and for the money as the case may be. It is an excellent way of seeing things, so we are people who can be very cautious if we want that in our society or in the Environment in which we live we Can make a Difference , in this order of things things can be Focused on Another System , because Firstly , if we start to Socialize , things can Happen in a very Strange Way, I can talk to any Person if the Topic of Conversion arises, I have no problem saying yes, I play all the time but I'm not Addicted , and I like a lot of Casinos and I play Because I like it, and if I like it it is because intrinsically I am saying that it is a passion or that I like the enjoyment through the casino, of course , if the person does not He takes it well and starts gossiping about me. Yes, we should focus on what we are doing and not think about what others are doing or saying. We gamble based on what we want and are responsible for what we do to take good care of ourselves. We don't need to respond to what other people say, and we can stay away from them instead of having meaningless arguments between us. The important thing is that we can take good care of ourselves while gambling and not use too much money. Just let go of what other people say about us because they can't do anything about it if we don't do it. When we are gambling and being open minded, we will know and be able to discern wether we are expected to go by what people say or not, this is something we need to approach in two categories, have you been seeing yourself as a responsible gambler who has always taken his time in doing the right thing or you've just been gambling so blindly that you don't even know how it's affecting your personal life and people are so much concerned about it than you do, so we can consider them when they are helpful and necessary for us to adjust through, but when otherwise, we may not have to act by what we hear.

Okay, today I was actually out for a little business and it happens that I almost spent all my time wasted without me even having a smooth deal, but along the line I have few games that I have placed a bet and was wanting to view my games from my phone since gambling is now mobile, what I meant by mobile is that you can access your account at any place provided that you have an internet connectivity you will login to monitor your matches.

So when I logged in, someone close to me easily peep from my left hand side and noticed that I just opened my account monitoring my games, at this point what he said is "ahh you don join dem"? Meaning you have also belong to the groups of people that gambles?

In your life there will be different kinds of people who will always think both negatively and positively of you. Sometimes their perspective of you will be either due to a misunderstanding or because of a personal issue. But perspectives change and so do people. There is absolutely no point in worrying who likes you and who does not. Just live your life the way that makes you happy and ignore them. Because you will never be able to satisfy everyone, no matter how amazing of a person you are. Trying to become a "people pleaser" is not the right way to live, because it will exhaust you and end up bringing you nothing of value. And truthfully, most people are too busy caring about what others think of them to even notice things about you. Once you realize that, your mind becomes a lot lighter.

Seriously? Do you need to respond with a question like that? I didn't even find the person's statement to trigger your inner self. It's like you easily get affected by a few words from that person. I think this is the common standard, caring more about what closer people think of you than distant ones
having a support network that don't judge you and trust your skill on making decisions is crutial on being happy in life, imo

not engaging on discussions about why you choose the things you choose is a smart decision too, in the end of the day (or the month) you are the one paying your bills...
