Yes,  that's true, and I totally agree with you on how people's interference on our gambling life shouldn't be taken for granted or given much importance, inasmuch as our gambling lifestyle is not encroaching unto other people's privacy and finance. Because one thing I have come to understand is that people will always tend to speak good or give positive advice when you are gambling  on profit whereas speak bad when you are gambling on loses. I agree with you. If it’s a sensible word flowing along my own opinion I go along but anything aside that, it none of your business. In as much as gambling is legal in your country, you don't need to worry about what people say or think about you especially if you are a responsible and mature gambler. One might have to be sensitive to what people are saying if gambling is illegal since they might report it to law enforcement agencies. Irresponsible gamblers might also be interested in people's perception of them because they need people's advice to overcome the habit. Underaged gamblers might also be mindful of people's views since they are gambling illegally.
