I know that this is kind of explicit given the forum area where the topic is open, but perhaps it's nice to highlight this information in the OP!. [EDIT: Sorry, now I see... <1000 merits]

Anyway, I understand that the purpose of the topic is to encourage new users to run a node, and I am also happy to have completed the challenge, I will certainly continue running the node as long as I can.

The thing here is, I am not even sure if am doing it the right way, especially in the first few days.

It's even good you have an access to a computer which I think is very important in this case. Truth is, I was quite confused at the first, because I can remember downloading the v27.0 more than a month back but couldn't run the node properly until last week.

First, you need a good internet connection. That was my biggest problem from onset. I even expressed my frustration in this Thread due to the poor service of my ISP. Try to get a very good Internet connection , even if it requires changing your ISP which shouldn't cost you anything.

If your connection is good, you should be able to hit 10% progress in 5-6 hours(which I have done once). I currently run mine at least 5 hours per day which gives me an average progress of 6%(depending on my connection).
