It's very important that if you really want to succeed in life you must learn how to develop a thick skin, look at our leaders today, they go through all sort of criticism because there are certain policies that we doesn't agree too, but they still stand strong and keep on doing the work they were elected for.

Their are so many people out there that small criticism of how they are going wrong, they would want to run away, by resigning or quiting, but to be successful you need to understand that you cannot please everyone, and your decision making might be wrong which will definitely attracte criticism, but a man with thick skin will learn from it and move on instead of quitting.

Agreed this is why we should never base on another one’s success we often compare ourselves to what other people are doing and we feel as though there must be something wrong with what we are currently doing

To succeed in every area of life, it is important to know how to handle criticism. This is because people will always speak against what you do even if it is right. We should learn how to treat these attacks because humans have different views about everything this is why you don't expect people to accept everything you say or do. But I am not comfortable with your expression that politicians should have a thick skin even when the people are speaking against policies. This assertion might mean that our leaders shouldn't heed the yearnings and aspirations of the people which is a sign of autoritarianism. Politicians should have a thick skin but they should be open to listening to the desire of the people.

If you know that what you are doing is right, there is no need to give up. There will always be attackers that will want to kill a good vision or dream but we have to be able to separate between constructive criticism and calculated attacks. I have witnessed the contempt of many people on social networks for the actor, and that actor chose to end his life. The younger generation is becoming more sensitive compared to kids from 'the 80s/'90s and it's mainly people of changes in parenting.

It is rather funny you bring this topic about developing and thick skin during this period of time and during the state of the western society, when people among the youngest generations seem to be getting as sensitive as possible to the point of having the thinnest skin possible.
When I was younger, I recall it was more difficult to make someone to feel offender by only speech or words throw at their faces in real life.
Nowadays, it would seem it is way easier to get to the nerves of people who one has not even met before and live thousands of miles away, it is what some call "triggering" others on the internet.

On one hand, I can understand there topics which are complex and can hurt the sensitivity of any reasonable human being, topics like death, war, Religion, race, etc. Those one can be careful enough to have a civilized conversation. On the other hand, it seems now just by giving our opinion about some topics is enough for someone to call us out and accuse us of anything on the internet, from being a facist/communist or a -phobic.

I miss those times when everyone used to have a thicker skin, to be honest. Though, I do not have the thickest skin among all the people here, so I could also work on it slowly.

Sometimes the society will not critize for wrong only, that's humans for us people will always have something to say and it's best to avoid such words and keep going. In a situation where the criticism is meant for correction then it's worth paying attention to, still because of criticism and fear of what people will say a lot of people has decide to remain stagnant and never wanting to leave their comfort zone.

People have different needs, desires and expectations, it is impossible to please everyone all the time. A successful politician must have thick skin to withstand criticism, personal attacks and pressure from various groups and individuals. Developing a thick skin is very important to move on to the next level in life, it'll help to absorb criticism and all sorts of negativities that can slow progress in life, so if someone wants to achieve greatness they'll have to accommodate all the criticism, learn what they can from them and move on. I remember my newbies days in this forum, I'll make some comments as a novice and some experienced members will rubbish the post without considering that the writer is a learner, I'll naturally feel hurt and discouraged, but in the end I'll develop the thick skin, learn from it and move on. Living and basing your life on other people’s success is a bad thing to do. One thing I realize in life is that everyone’s path as been designed for them, you can only learn from other people’s path but you cannot become or do what they did in their own path. Life is all about learning and growing through what you’ve learnt. Life is an exam that has different questions on them even though you’re in the same class or level. Not to forget, there is a  difference between being resilient and being wicked. Most of the these so called saboteurs do not care about leadership and that makes them wicked. They more less selfish.

It's normal to see that with some sort of correction, they'll cry and will quit their jobs. That's normal and I think that they're just being welcomed by the reality and they haven't dealt with it when they are younger. Having a thick skin or being open with rejections and corrections will make you survive longer this world. Because you'll never know that the person that's correcting you is just looking for someone to mentor and pass on the throne of the position that he's taking care of in the corporation.

And when that guy finds you worthy of it as he's taught you all that he's learned other the period of time and his stay with the company, there is no other people that shall be passed on with the throne and position but that person being corrected and taught secretly by that person through criticism. Yes we have to create a thick skin for ourselves and that does not mean we have to be mean to other people.
The way some leaders and taking there  government agenda into reality, we can conclude that they have not plans for the average people.
