Why should I not be comfortable if she is gambling responsibly. But I will prefer she should do it online instead of offline using betting agent. Because as I saw that image, that is a betting agent shop and I will not like to see my mother there. This is because in my country, only young guys are common in such a place and that would be an embarrassment for my mother and me. But if it is online that she is doing it, I will not be worried at all if she is gambling responsibly.

If it was my grandpa or father I would have just linked their gambling habit to probably the fact that they loved sports in their youthful years and that led to them still gambling – but for a woman, it’s not common to see them in sports center not to talk of them going to betting agents to place bets, I believe that 99% of em’ ladies that are into gambling are there majorly for the gain and one way or the other they got addicted (just like the old lady in Op).

Like, the post you quoted above stated, since they’re are of old age it’s more likely that they can come down with some sort of illness like blood pressure unlike youths or younger people that can easily get through losing their money – some old people find it difficult to let go of their money, imagine that kind of person losing to a game they bet to. Going by your words "dedicated gambler", nobody would want such thing for their mother, I can agree or give my support to my mother if she gambles seasonally, but wanting to dedicated her entire time into gambling is a NO NO for me. Gambling is for both genders, I've seen some ladies that are good predictors, and they leave a very mentally stable lifestyle with everyone Around them, so apparently I will give my support to my mother if she gambles responsibly.

From the image, it seems like she was patiently waiting for others who were there before her; she waited for them to finish their own prediction and gambling, sitting at a place and watching them before she later moved over to the canter to start her own prediction.
 
After a long stand of eh, cut me 1, let me try again till she finally ends up losing all that she came in with to the gambling shop. That was when she realised that she had made a big mistake that day, which shows how frustrated she is as she stands there like that.
 
Seeing someone like that in a gambling shop will definitely raise an eyebrow, but then again, she is just a normal gambler like all of us. What makes it different is the age and gender, which are uncommon to find in a physical gambling shop, but aside from that, we are all there for the same thing, and I would not judge her for her actions.

If you look at the picture he seems to be playing lottery games in a gambling house so maybe it is because of economic pressure that might make him become a gambler like that, I am sure he is not happy in buying that lottery ticket because he hopes to win and get a lot of money, if that happens to him. My mother, the first thing maybe I will remind her to focus more on enjoying life and I work to make her happy.

It could be that she has been gambling for a long period of time, but this very day that the picture was taken is different. Judging from the picture, it took her time for them to decide if she should go and give it a try or not, which could be as a result of the kind of financial situation she is in at that moment, and the only way she thinks she can solve that problem is by using any means necessary to double the money.
 
And if she chooses to play the aviator game, which is one of the fastest ways to either lose all your money or make more money in a very short time, then she might be confused right now because the game did not go as planned.

In some cultures, it is morally unacceptable for women especially the elderly to gamble. Gambling is seen as a male field hence women are restricted from engaging in it. Most women who gamble do that secretly. It is common to see women sending their brothers or even children to go and stake games on their behalf because it is highly unacceptable to see a female gambler in offline casinos. However, the introduction of online casinos has really helped these female gamblers to gamble secretly.

I will not be comfortable seeing my mother or elder sister gambling based on our environment. It will be an embarrassing situation based on some cultural and religious beliefs. Don't blame me for my position, our society has different roles assigned to different sex. The mothers are seen as role models that should focus on raising children and these kids learn more from mothers. Totally actually really be that situational since not all people would really be able to have that kind of experience on having that one of the members of the family do the things that you are
also doing on which having some discussion or talks about it would really be bringing out that kind of bonding even if you are really that seeing your mom or someone who do the same.

Personally I won't complain much if she does her gambling activities online or secretly at least we will understand that she's trying her luck to see it she could make out something tangible to assist her family but seeing her boldly gambling in a local shop says alot about her shameless and irresponsible she has become due to gambling addiction. If I’m not mistaken the game is Keno in the picture right? Here in Philippines, It’s very normal to elderly gambling especially on lottery based game and bingo. It’s quite a norm here since elderly doesn’t have that much things to do and they spend some part of their of their time playing small bet lottery for a chance to win big.

The woman in the picture is not even older than elderly here that still gambling on lottery shop or bingo shop. I believe this is a case to case basis depending on how your society accepts gambling because here in my country woman that gambling even elderly is not a big deal.

Gambling is a game of readiness to accept whatever results that comes out of it that is best suitable for the fittest due to its unguaranteed predictional nature.
I haven't seen a woman who tends to gamble for fun other than chasing after making profits.
I don't even find any acceptable reasons how and why my own mother should develop such feelings of catching fun in the gambling While I am aware of the negative occurances of ones is not responsible to control its emotions at when losses a stake which I can beat that most women are heartedly fragile to take control of their emotions at a depression time.

I think it will be the same with different cultures mate, I've seen elderly in a land based casino playing, so it doesn't matter if you are from Africa to Asia, the effect of gambling to everyone is real. But I guess you can't blame them, same as you, regardless of age, you want to win some money and you take that risk, so you lose some you win some.

Regarding the question if we will be comfortable with our mother or even older sister playing, of course not, but how can you stop them? They might just be having fun and to be entertain. Maybe there will be issues if they were going to ask you some money to gamble, but for me, when my father was still alive, I give him money to gamble and play every week because I believed that he is just enjoying his life.

It depends on the kind of gambling or where he is betting, if it is a lottery that is very popular here I need not worry as it is very popular here young and old are betting in the hope that it can change their lives and their family, and it only took minutes to bet here.

First I think Op would have tried to clone the woman's picture more for the sake of her privacy protection. Hence, I won't be surprised if someone in same jurisdiction you are comes to identify the woman from the picture.

Having given that little observation, mothers who gamble didn't start that at old age, they started as either spinster learning from their brothers or boyfriends. Then another level is when they are married to a gambling husband, they learn from him and most times such habit is difficult to drop when the woman is no more especially when you have been having some winning.

So, I'm not surprised to see a mother in a gambling house because I know she didn't just wake up to start playing it even though it is awkward to see women gambling in my jurisdiction because gambling is a male dominated activities.

I strongly believe that seeing myself in a casino will make people think less of me, it makes people look at you like someone who is useless, not to talk of you passing by and seeing your mother in a casino, you will feel like a train ran pass through you.

Till today I don't like going to any casino with my legs, I will rather find a online casino and shoot my shot, but honestly, this woman must be in a very bad position to expose herself coming to the casino like this, she is older, meaning she understood what people are saying about gamblers, and I am sure that some people will already be gossiping about her involvement in gambling.
